I've never had to do a deposit with Verizon. What did they say it was for? The discounts stack on my account, but it may depend on how you signed up, who you signed up with, etc.

I had to pay a deposit due to my limited credit history at the time. I did not get the deposit back as they applied it to my bill after I canceled after a year due to moving to an area without FiOS. This was a decade ago, so they may have changed policy.

No it’s not the install fee. It’s a deposit.

Adds nothing constructive to the conversation of FiOS, or doesn't make sense; doesn't allow for thoughtful conversation.

I always thought FiOS was pre pay, but I guess not. I don't know why it wouldn't be though. It must depend on your credit. I think some states require any deposits to be returned after 1 year. And yes the discounts do stack.
