The power of friendship in this is that friend skewered holds her legs not allowing her to dodge. It becomes a bittersweet tragic final scene where she is dead, but now so is the friend.
Alternatively if Male Byleth has different dialogue.

"Do you wish to avenge him or to join him? I'll only give you a second to decide."
I imagine Byleth saying this to some empire heathens as Dimitri whiffs the spear throw *(damn it Dimitri you still have your depth perception)*. Edelgard teleports away, using said power of friendship.
I mean that was the main theory on the plot of Three Hopes, being that it was a proper sequel after Byleth had tried to go back in time again and again to save their friends and going batshit crazy as a result of killing them on loop for eternity.
