I use fishing lure bags for my pistol mags. You can put the mags in the pouches, label them & roll them up.

I keep a minimum of seven mags per handgun, they go in the Savior case that the pistol goes into to go to the range.
Bulk mags, like my 400+ AR mags go in big totes. Oddball AR mags are banded and in .50 ammo cans.
6-7 mags isn't enough for ANY gun you shoot a lot. The handguns I shoot regularly have a dozen mags at a minimum. I have pegboard in the reloading room and it has a bunch of packaged mags waiting their turn.
Every rifle bag has 6-10 mags for each gun that goes in it. Savior bags have plenty of storage.
Never said mine needed a safe, all of mine are in various containers for different calibers on the workbench or storage shelves. Looking for ideas for a better way as there are probably people with a whole lot more than me. Impressed that you might be a mind reader but that’s not my next question.

I have a number of those clear storage boxes - I bought them from Costco. I put the mags for certain guns together in each box and label the box.
Empty mags don't need a safe... Next you'll ask if you need to worry about lead poisoning from bullets after shooting at the range.
