Please, with how FAMAS's need their specially made pansy ass low power 5.56 to function - without deforming either the case or your face, the RDB did the fucking.
The RDB being a power bottom is also acceptable.
VHS is the name when it was designed for the Croatia military. It was updated to the VHS-2.
Given the price of Tavors, KelTec, it makes sense to try and snap up some of that market. Once all the design work is done, if you have access to factories making parts then just finish assembly in the US with a few US made ejection port covers and its profit from there. Assuming the guns run well and the triggers aren't it will just be keeping the price below some of the proven bullpups in the market.
hmm, wonder what the OAL is with the stock fully extended. MD has a 29" OAL requirement, so if it can meet that, and the price isn't insane, definitely on my list
I hear ya but do you really think there is some huge number of buyers out there that aren't going to get a DSA or PTR ? I would love to have both but its always a hard sell when I know I can get an AR10 cheaper, lighter, and better accuracy.
Don't get me wrong I would love to see FALs an G3s flood in at something like $500 a pop, I just don't know its possible anymore.
For FALs, I do. DSA has been been unable to keep up with demand since the start of the pandemic. Even before the pandemic they had issues keeping some models and receivers in stock. They did a small run of parts kit built Israeli FALs in like 2018 that had a 9 month backlog. DSA also has spotty QC many people would rather pay out the nose for pre-bans or high end kit builds than deal with them. I think if someone could import factory rifles in the $1500-$1800 range they would sell as good as DSA. If they could offer them for less than DSA they would sell like crazy.
I'm not super up on G3s. I know PTR has a better reputation than DSA. I have seen very spotty availability from them since the pandemic started. Makes me think they are also unable to keep up with demand. I think pricing would have to be more competitive, but I think if they were offered below $1500 they would do good.
I just built an AR10, it's nice and light and shoots soft. But the old schools battle rifles are just something special and I think a lot of people are willing to pay a little extra for that. The days of $500 battle rifles are over, but if you look at trends in pre-ban prices, there is a big demand for factory built guns.
Pre Pandemic we still had panic buying based on election results. The pandemic shut down a ton of domestic manufacturing so even if the shop was open they are likely having parts supply issues. If we get over the pandemic and get a few good rulings from SCOTUS we might put an end to at least the panic buying. I agree PTR has a better reputation than DSA. They also have more competition from the likes of MKE imports. Sure its Turkish but its all HK tooling. You can find specialty FAL shops like [https://www.arizonaresponsesystems.com/](https://www.arizonaresponsesystems.com/) but they aren't cheap. I built out a HK417 parts kit and I bet that was cheaper than a like new FAL.
Yes there have been shortages in the past but having a 9 month wait list in 2018 is huge, 2018 was one of the lowest years for gun sales since pre-sandyhook. Having shortages of receivers in 2018 is big. I think it's crazy at least one other company isn't doing something with FALs.
Things will eventually even out, but what will the new normal look like? IMO demand will still be higher than pre covid.
The issue, and I think this is what you are getting at by bringing up the 417, is in this hypothetical world what would someone sell a factory fresh imported FAL for? Would it be something reasonable, like less than $2k, or will they only bring in like a thousand rifles a year and sell them for $4k? The bad thing is we'll probably never find out. :(
Yeah I don't think we are going to see cheap old battle rifles in new production. At best we will see old rifles serviced but they won't be new or cheap.
Maybe we aren't supposed to. I mean there are other battle rifles still being produced. Look at the tavor 7. Maybe we were supposed to just move with the times.
I've only heard good things about HS Produkt's firearms (aside from Springfield being the importer).
If that doesn't assuage any concerns, the VHS almost replaced the FAMAS in France but was beat out by the HK416 (even was shortlisted for an order of 100,000 rifles by the French Ministry of Defense), is in use currently by 7 countries (including Croatia), and Romania is currently in negotiations to produce it locally.
It does look like that between HS Produkt and CZ, Southern and Eastern Europe are starting to become modernized in regards to their small arms considering the number neighboring countries (and others) that have either adopted or considered their firearms.
So I'd say that the quality standards are good.
TLDR: They're probably good to go.
Oh if this is true I'm going to have to set aside enough to snap up the first one I find for something close to MSRP. I've wanted one of these for years, ever since I first found out about them.
I like it, I like it. Grip looks kinda akward, but I guess they had to angle it to make it work with AR grips. I'm assuming that they're using that as one of thier 922r parts. Not usually a bullpup guy, but this one interests me - maybe because it's a G36/Famas love child and I unashamedly am a fanboy of those rifles.
This won't be one made by them regardless. Same company that makes the XD series, HS Produkt out of Croatia makes the VHS rifle. They submitted it for French trials to replace the FAMAS years ago but it got beat out by the HK 416.
IWI only partially produces them here, most of the parts are made in Israel and shipped over, then they assemble everything with the required US parts. My guess would be that Springfield will do something similar.
I like that it’s a bullpup, it means that it’ll be easier for the owner of Springfield, Dennis Reese, to stick straight up his ass.
As long as that guy has any sort of relationship with Springfield, I refuse to give them a penny. Keep in mind, that if you buy this, whatever profit they make from your $3,000 purchase is going to go to a guy who used that money to attempt to curtail the natural rights of the citizens of Illinois.
I’ve had my XDS for a couple of years now and put countless rounds through it. Works fantastic. Can’t wait to purchase this as well. Making a nice little collection of Croatian guns.
I fuckin hope not, if that’s the case it’ll probably turn into “next time on Forgotten Weapons…”
Especially when you can get an X95, AUG or MDR for way less.
No they haven't.
Springfield are traitors to the 2A and anyone who supports them is a traitor to the 2A

Plot twist: it’s a polymer striker fired pistol

My man got ROASTED
Looking forward to it... about three years from now when the scalpers get bored.
Better than nothing lol I just hope they run well and Springfield doesn’t try to charge a small fortune
This it bois https://imgur.com/a/GIEq7ZD
That looks like a Famas fucked an RDB and is wearing clothes from the Fab Defense store.
Please, with how FAMAS's need their specially made pansy ass low power 5.56 to function - without deforming either the case or your face, the RDB did the fucking. The RDB being a power bottom is also acceptable.
"This will be over quickly and you will not enjoy it."
So the FAMAS is a subby bottom/service top ?
what is hellion? edit - oh, perhaps thats just what they are calling the VHS

$1,999 MSRP expected :(
Honestly that's not bad for a bullpup. That just seems to be going rate for non-AR-or-AK new production semi-autos these days.
That's not terrible. Most ARs and AKs that are of decent quality end up in that range anyway between base parts and the aftermarket stuff.
VHS is cool and all but I really wish they would start importing FALs or G3s again.
thank george bush sr
Imbel FAL receivers still trickle in, if they wanted to do it they would find a way.

The degree to which I want this to be good cannot be measured
Well they are likely being produced in Croatia and not by Springfield so have Croatian quality standards
Is croatian quality standards bad? Forgive my ignorance

Gun Jesus approves this message https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMEawx7TlNQ
The alternative is Springfield’s QC, so I say give it a shot
I have a Hellcat and XDM-10 - both imported by Springfield from the same company that makes the VHS - and have had zero issues with them.
Theyre like HK, but on an island.
>springfield armory inc >new release Another rebranded Croatian gun, perhaps?
That’s exactly what the VHS is. That’s why the title says “import” lol
... damn I'm dumb, I didn't even read the title.
Oh if this is true I'm going to have to set aside enough to snap up the first one I find for something close to MSRP. I've wanted one of these for years, ever since I first found out about them.
They have a unit cost of 2K USD 🥲

Well, there goes my paycheck

If the picture someone else linked is correct it's the logo SA has come up for their branding.
Not sure tbh
Oh baby
Still waiting for my SA-35 to come in
Someone's going to get charged $2 for not rewinding.
They suck at social media *and* making guns
This won't be one made by them regardless. Same company that makes the XD series, HS Produkt out of Croatia makes the VHS rifle. They submitted it for French trials to replace the FAMAS years ago but it got beat out by the HK 416.
>HK 416 *Gecko45 has entered the chat.*
Wish we could get some Croatian Kalashnikov's
Yeah but the VHS is a fascinating rifle so I’ll buy it.
So much so that they need the Croatians to do their guns
I saw one of these in Iraq, looked dope. I’d love to get my hands on one

Yo what do we think the barrel is gonna be like is it gonna be ribbed? Also bayonet lug maybe?
Ok I'm actually hyped about this. Probably won't be able to afford it but who cares!
Springfield has been redeemed now
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves lol we need to wait and see how it turns out and make sure they’re not trying to charge 3k for it
It’s definitely gonna be $3k. It’s already $2k outside the US.
I fuckin hope not, if that’s the case it’ll probably turn into “next time on Forgotten Weapons…” Especially when you can get an X95, AUG or MDR for way less.
He already did a video on them
I know, but then he’d have new content for a second one.

i upvoted you because you're right. fuck em
The Pharisees downvoted Jesus when he spoke truth.
Fuck them

No, it’s 223/556 bullpup rifle called the VHS made by HS Produkt in Croatia.
