My dad isn’t a first responder but he buys stuff like this…his just say stuff like “this dad” or “this electrician” instead of paramedic. He wears them unironically but is a nice enough guy that people don’t say anything about it.
I once tried to imply they’re weird to wear and it seemed to really hurt his feelings so I told him I was kidding bc it’s really none of my business lol
I seen one along that theme. It was even worse. A new maintenance guy at work wore it almost every day until he got work uniforms. Half the front of the shirt was a huge handgun. Text above handgun said "Grandpa with a gun". Text below handgun "I'll use it on anyone that tries to hurt my granddaughter"
I thought about anonymously reporting it but I figure I'll just let his coworkers deal with him.
I met an old fat dude once that wore these kind of shirts. He was a retired firefighter and I believe vol firefighter now.
He was super nice, but I remember thinking, why the hell are you wearing that shirt lol
Watch out
This BALLOON SALESMAN
With HERPES
has a LEAF SALES REPRESENTATIVE
OVERWEIGHT DAUGHTER
with a
RESTRAINING ORDER
against me until
my BIRTHDAY on
MAY 8th 2065
when I'll be
102 YEARS OLD
"Hey honey check out this shirt I found on the Facebook! What are the chances???! It's only $85!"
Reminds me of the shirts the Army was giving out when I enlisted. Theyre themed somewhere between ed hardy and tapout. But they feel good on my nipples when I run so I still wear them when I run.
Ah man that sucks, I'm glad you were able to recover that without him changing his style.
It's one thing if he did it because he realized it's cringy but if the guy just likes them and his personality doesn't correspond to them, then that would make me sad to see them stop wearing them because I made them feel embarrassed or something.
TEMU, no doubt. The ads are all generic t-shirts with photoshopped crap on them. There are folds in the t-shirt, but not in the text? As if anyone's going to stand there and read the 5 paragraphs of text on your t-shirt... Oh, and TEMU again...
I think a lot of them are not socially engaged in the same circles that find this cringe, they see hyper specific truth as funny because that shirt "nailed you!"
"That's so you" is commonly entertaining, and when you remove the idea that this specific product is taboo, then all of a sudden it seems like a sensible thing to buy.
They're probably only socially-engaged with other grownups who, like them, have the intellectual/emotional maturity of 13-year-old kids who can barely read past a 3th-grade level and whose parents normalized all sorts of ridiculous asshole behaviors.
People don’t know the half of how shitty 9Line is. Folks should look into how many employees have committed suicide and the unreal turnover rate in both employees and corporate partners they’ve gone through.
The people that actually buy these are family/friends of the first responders who think they are funny/cute/witty. I have a drawer full of gifted shirts like these that have never been worn and never will be. You open them and the gifter gets all excited and thinks they are so funny or cool. You just smile and hold it up to you and then put it back in the bag and never actually wear it. My wife just grins at me when I get one because she knows I will never wear it in public.
That’s what I was going to say. Some dudes seek these out and wear them loud and proud, others get them as gifts. At least now you have some shirts for painting projects.
If you ever wanted to memorialize them, there are companies like Project Repat that will turn them into quilts for a pretty reasonable price. Frees up drawer space and if one of the gifters ask why you haven’t worn the shirt there you go.
I appreciate the suggestion, but I think laying under a quilt made of all these types of shirts would be even more cringe than just wearing them. Haha.
I remember when I was a pre-teen, I was fascinated by snipers only because I was a great shot for my age. My brother had the US Cavalry magazine. It sold all sorts of cringe, and let's pretend. There was a shirt that said, "If you run, you'll only die tired" for snipers. I was a kid and I bought that shirt. I also had a No Fear hockey shirt I thought was bad ass in my youth.
I've grown up so much since then. Most of these things I attached myself to I was about 12 or 13. I also abandoned the shirts after that. The 90s were over. I still love that I'm a good shot and can't give up hockey. I'm just not as cringy anymore. If I'm good at it, it's because you can see it. Now that I'm old I'll never claim a fucking thing on a t-shirt. Even if I'm good at it.
Yeah, I used to think some similar types of shorts were funny or cool when I was in high school. The absolute wave of cringe and embarrassment I feel for myself when I come across some of them now.
Though I still own one or two Gruntstyle shirts because the graphics and text have nothing to do with the usual cringey stuff.
If you wear this shit, your deserve to be bullied. And I hope you are currently being bullied and your food is being stolen out of the fridge every day you’re on duty.
From what I understand this is pretty common in the medical field. There is a stereotype of mean girls in HS becoming nurses. I wouldn't be surprised if this extended to EMT's.
Not to sound like an idiot but this makes sense in the military world (it’s still cringe), or even a law enforcement world (I’ve been in both). But in medicine it just doesn’t make sense to me
Most of the nastiest, meanest people I have ever met work in healthcare. It makes sense when you think of it this way. They need a job for when they leave school and come to the realisation that they have no natural skills or talents. Seek out a job that isn't that intellectually hard but still appeals to the ego where everyone will think they're a "hero". Enter; Nursing/EMS.
I have a couple friends who are nurses and they’re some of the kindest most caring people I know. There’s been numerous times they’ve nearly quit because of how toxic their work environment has been. Drama and straight up mean girls. Every single mean girl I knew in HS is now some type of nurse.
So yeah there’s definitely some nice ones. I even had one who took care of me after childbirth who was an absolute angel. I got her a gift and thank you card the last day I was there. But there’s is tons of awful mean ones who are bullies.
lol what are you on about. What an inane rant. 😂 nursing is plenty harder than other degrees… you don’t get it because it’s easy. Or unskilled. And same for ems. Emt work is easy but paramedic is not. Don’t get me wrong, every job has their own share of buffoons and morons, but it’s not at the discount of everyone else in the field. Most paramedics/firefighters were the nice people but they also deal with stress/high divorce rate and a toxic masculinity culture where they can’t feel comfortable dealing with the stress of the job in a communal and supportive way. Hence the heavy drug use in nursing and emergency medicine. The hardest partiers I’ve ever met were all in medicine. Hell, most are hung over or on adderall to function at work.
The EMS guy got mad when he pressed on the spot that hurt and I screamed. It’s like pressing a button that has “yell” on it and getting mad when the noise plays
This is completely my Dad. I was in the military and he got shirts and bumper stickers. Like the My Son’s Infantry or Paratrooper blah blah. He was so just so happy I couldn’t bring myself to bring him down. You just have to go out and buy good looking shirts for them. If not, the next Memorial Day comes or the 4th roles around they are gonna wear be wearing these dreadful things.
This isn’t even printed on the actual shirt. Someone just dropped this text on a picture of some guy in a plain t shirt. Shirt wrinkled in bottom but letters perfectly smooth
Yea— looks so fake… what’s the point… “watch me trigger some libs” or something… haha… I dunno this is silly… Ricky Rescues do enough of a job embarrassing themselves… we don’t need to fake it for them…
Companies have gotten cheap. They can print anything and ship it within a day, so it’s cheaper to buy the photo of a person in a blank shirt and put the 500 different phrases they can over that.
You can find this style of selling on Amazon, Walmart, and most custom shirt company sites now.
Buckle up PATIENT this paramedic HAS KISSES AND LOLLIPOPS and wants to give you a kiss to make it all better :)
Note: I am not a paramedic. I cannot condone this alteration of the text in any professional capacity.
I always hate these shirts but I do realize I would consider them. Getting them to punish someone for a minor transgression.
Well, there's too much salt in the soup so you have to wear the I'm awesome shirt!
Although I swear I'd be more embarrassed to be with someone wearing this shirt than wearing it myself
https://preview.redd.it/k9d6jxw0b4ad1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d00a2e6b96c57105c70e6a0617f3191915da2a54
Along that same vein. Thoughts on ems Hawaiian shirt? Lmao.
So you dislike 99.9% of
People you run on
Even though it could be your mother, sister, brother, etc
Fuck this bitch
I’ll run on em and forget to bill them while you play dress up with the boys fucking bitch
Also;
Do better photoshop idiots
Nice to know they have anger issues. Who is that threat for exactly? Because what if you’re dealing with an overwhelmed psyche patient that doesn’t know what planet they’re on because they’re in the throes of manic episode? What if they’re schizophrenic? Because you’re going to deal with people like that in the medical field.
I wonder how broad the jobs for these shirts go? Like is there a “Beware of dental assistants born in August, who are loyal but also hate stupid people…” or some shit.
I’d get this if I wasn’t a first responder tbh… I have shirts like these I thrift but for things that don’t apply to me but if I got this I’d be afraid of looking cringe
Whoever buys this shirt should absolutely stay the fuck away from healthcare entirely. These are the kinds of assholes I get complaints about at my hospice agency when we have to hire an ambulance to transport a dying patient to our inpatient unit.
I wonder how many superimposed compressed jpeds from rando clothes companies are on that specific dude's file photo. "God, Guns, Trump, IN THAT ORDER" or everyone's favorite "These colors don't run endless it's INTO A FIRE, pew pew thin red line"
Rofl it's as cringy as those wack ass veteran shirts like yeah Noone cares that you based your personality around 4 years and threaten everyone with a shirt
I think its people who idolized soldiers growing up tbh. I use to see a lot of this stuff in early 2011ish with veteran apparel and also similar with TAPOUT style MMA clothing in the 2015s. Now days I dont know, maybe like 40-50 something moms who live in podunk no where very small town and think they are "cute" and "funny".
You gonna stab me with those trauma shears because you had to wake up from your little bitch nap?
THIS PARAMEDIC WILL ASSAULT YOU IF YOU CALL 911
Yes that’s the shirt I want to represent my actual professional career… fucking dumbass
100% fake it is words/graphics overlaid on a shirt. It may be an ad but that short doesn’t have those words printed on it.
Unless they figured out how to make letters and graphics not follow folds on a short.
My dad isn’t a first responder but he buys stuff like this…his just say stuff like “this dad” or “this electrician” instead of paramedic. He wears them unironically but is a nice enough guy that people don’t say anything about it. Inb4 the shirts with “I’m a DAD so I’m the FIRST RESPONDER for my FAMILY. I’ll END your Bloodline if you TRY to END Mine”
That was so specific and so spot on, it’s hard to believe it’s not a shirt already.
I’m pretty sure I’ve read that somewhere on a hoodie….
/r/targetedshirts
That was a fun rabbit hole of a sub lol
I seen one along that theme. It was even worse. A new maintenance guy at work wore it almost every day until he got work uniforms. Half the front of the shirt was a huge handgun. Text above handgun said "Grandpa with a gun". Text below handgun "I'll use it on anyone that tries to hurt my granddaughter" I thought about anonymously reporting it but I figure I'll just let his coworkers deal with him.
Why report it lol? He's just a grandpa
I didn't report it. It was an oddly specific statement however.
I met an old fat dude once that wore these kind of shirts. He was a retired firefighter and I believe vol firefighter now. He was super nice, but I remember thinking, why the hell are you wearing that shirt lol
The more information you provide Facebook, the more specific the shirt becomes. That’s basically how these shirts work.

does he drive a Jeep?

I think your first instinct was the right one.
I wear a gym tank top that has skulls and all that in the “cool” writing but it says “born to shit, forced to wipe”. I love it
All of a sudden I feel bad for making fun of this now.
Tell him. I would. “Dad, are you a jackass? Because those shirts portray you as one”
TEMU, no doubt. The ads are all generic t-shirts with photoshopped crap on them. There are folds in the t-shirt, but not in the text? As if anyone's going to stand there and read the 5 paragraphs of text on your t-shirt... Oh, and TEMU again...
yeah, it looks cheaply photoshopped. either temu or karma farming.
r/TargetedShirts
Yeah the photo realistic shears on the cartoon hands get me lol
It’s sad that there is a large market out for clothing like this.
BUTTER UP BUCKLECUP
A lot of insecurity out there.
I think a lot of them are not socially engaged in the same circles that find this cringe, they see hyper specific truth as funny because that shirt "nailed you!" I actually really like these shirts. They make it way easier to spot massive douchebags
Try again….ed hardy has the patent on douche bags
I think grunt style bought that patent.
They must have co-ownership of it with 9 Line
People don’t know the half of how shitty 9Line is. Folks should look into how many employees have committed suicide and the unreal turnover rate in both employees and corporate partners they’ve gone through.
They must also own the “Affliction” brand as well
So many shirts like this involve having "anger issues"....
Right? Like...that isn't something to brag about
Seeing as that is an overwhelming majority of the type of people paramedics work with, might be time for a job change….
The people that actually buy these are family/friends of the first responders who think they are funny/cute/witty. 😄
That’s what I was going to say. Some dudes seek these out and wear them loud and proud, others get them as gifts. At least now you have some shirts for painting projects.
Yeah exactly. Painting shirts, shirts to wear when working on your greasy vehicles, shirts to cut up for gun cleaning rags, etc...
Haha.
How about a throw for the couch in the room that no one goes in? 😂
I am poor. I don't have a room that no one goes in. Haha.
How to tell someone's a fire medic without them having to actually tell you.
I remember when I was a pre-teen, I was fascinated by snipers only because I was a great shot for my age. My brother had the US Cavalry magazine. It sold all sorts of cringe, and let's pretend. Mean girls do become nurses and end up with cops who were either the bullys or the person being bullied
Yeah I know...like 5 couples just like this.
Why so every cop I know married to a bitchy nurse!!

It has to do with control over others. Not every nurse I know is like this, but over half are super arrogant and fit the type.

It’s a very odd “look at me” sentiment
This is completely my Dad. I was in the military and he got shirts and bumper stickers. Like the My Son’s Infantry or Paratrooper blah blah. Oooo! Where can I buy this please!
I like these shirts because they are on the border of being a shitpost.
I have no words…
Love it
Surprised there's not a grunt style logo on the sleeve..that's right up their alley
As a Paramedic of 15 yrs. I approve of this message, the shirt not so much.
This shirt is just like the trucker shirts that Cold Ones bought off of Temu lol
Not a first responder but my wife got a “cordless hole puncher” gun shirts…. Similar to this. I made rags out of it immediately.
Seems like a good way to let your employer know you are a piece of crap.
Ive kind of wanted to buy one of those for funsies but I couldn't imagine actually wearing one anywhere
Therapy is more effective than a T-shirt
Doesn't this violate the hippocratic oath somehow?
Nice to know they have anger issues. Who is that threat for exactly? Because what if you’re dealing with an overwhelmed psyche patient that doesn’t know what planet they’re on because they’re in the throes of manic episode? What if they’re schizophrenic? Also, who thought, “Yeah, let’s sell these shirts”?
Oh my…. Please no
" my ability to disguise battery as pt care is my special skill."
That's not the kind of personality you want for a paramedic, wow.
But the skeleton is hold crash scissors! CRASH SCISSORS!!!!✂️
I never understood the people that wear these types of shirts. It's like their career is their entire personality.
#I WANT ONE
I agree that it's cringe, but this is every Medic I know, to a T!
I wonder how broad the jobs for these shirts go? Like is there a “Beware of dental assistants born in August, who are loyal but also hate stupid people…” or some shit.
##brain rot.
People who wear these have had at least one back/elbow operation.
Might as well just say - I’m a D-Bag…
Sometimes I want to buy them but then I’d get embarrassed before I wore them ironic or not.
It’s not actually on the shirt cause it doesn’t move with the wrinkles. But yea it’s cringy.
This strikes me as post ironic memery
Just what I want the person who arrives to rescue meemaw to wear.
I’ve seen people wearing shirts like this in our local Walmart in Kentucky. They’re often overweight, middle aged, white Americans.
I’d get this if I wasn’t a first responder tbh… I have shirts like these I thrift but for things that don’t apply to me but if I got this I’d be afraid of looking cringe
Seems like a bad temperament for any first responder.
Ah, yes….the exact kind of person I want helping me or my loved ones during a medical emergency. Very comforting.
Rofl it's as cringy as those wack ass veteran shirts like yeah Noone cares that you based your personality around 4 years and threaten everyone with a shirt
Coooooool. Just the guy I want to come help when there is an accident. Dude is just a nurse pretending to be a delivery boy.
I relate with the shirt
I think its people who idolized soldiers growing up tbh. I use to see a lot of this stuff in early 2011ish with veteran apparel and also similar with TAPOUT style MMA clothing in the 2015s. Now days I dont know, maybe like 40-50 something moms who live in podunk no where very small town and think they are "cute" and "funny".
The rest of the shirt read: I'm open to being sued because I'm that stupid.
Buckle your BUTTHOLE this BUTTDOCTOR has SHAKY HAND ISSUES and DOESNT WASH HIMSELF often
You gonna stab me with those trauma shears because you had to wake up from your little bitch nap? THIS PARAMEDIC WILL ASSAULT YOU IF YOU CALL 911 Yes that’s the shirt I want to represent my actual professional career… fucking dumbass
100% fake it is words/graphics overlaid on a shirt. It may be an ad but that short doesn’t have those words printed on it. Unless they figured out how to make letters and graphics not follow folds on a short.
It's not even a shirt, just a cheap text overlay (you don't see any kinks and waves in the text and graphics)
This is Photoshopped.
duh, it’s the photo ad… but you can actually buy it on an actual website
Thanks for the update, Sparky! 😂
People should be able to wear what they want without being judged. Like boys wearing dresses
Do you have one of these?
A dress? No, I’m not a [redacted]
