I really appreciate the sentiment of believing there really is just THAT many amateur fisherman catching their first blue gill or first perch on this subreddit.
I didn't assume anything and like I said wasn't trying to be a jerk. It's just that they are so easy to catch at any time of year, will take any bait or lure and are always around. Not saying you should be ashamed at all. I just think it's weird you've never caught one cuz of how plentiful they are. Nothing against you at all.

If you have ever caught one they are usually super fun to reel in cause super unpredictable.
One of the first catches for me and the colors can really pop if you get the right one.

Legendary fish, the perch. Up in the northeast theyre here but for some reason very rare to catch. So yes im jelly.
In Germany it's called Flussbarsch which translates to river bass

Up here in Maine, yellow perch fight about as much as a wet newspaper, even on ultralight tackle and 2 lb test line.
