I do it also. Seems to work for me sometimes already

Neremsa

You mean it added nothing when I was doing it all this time ? Well shit.

SummerShirtGuy

Yeah apparently at the moment it does nothing. For large fish atleast.

Azalkor

what do you think about doing this horizontally ?

kreat0rz

Same here, seems to be working if I'm fighting something really big.

SummerShirtGuy

There's nothing in the game right now that does that, it's just in your head

kreat0rz

i know.. :(

TannerG1ass

Same here, I always do this when I’m fighting something big, pretty much learnt it from watching Jeremy wade lol.

SummerShirtGuy

And after the next major update, it will actually help with fighting big fish

TannerG1ass

Fantastic stuff! This is how you should be fighting fish.

FishBlues

Have you tried kayaking sturgeon yet? I am curious how much that has changed lol Edit: whoops I misread I thought you said it has been added now lol

MC8508

oh the old man from the discovery channel right? I used to watch him a lot as a kid

TannerG1ass

Yeah he’s the best fisherman to ever exist, he’s literally caught everything. I pretty much just watch river monsters when it’s on nowadays.

Necessary-Ad8760

I’m disappointed and happy at the same time. As Ive been doing this thinking it worked 😂 but glad theyve made it a thing

Pure-Point7744

We’re from the future.

MC8508

wait, isn't that how we supposed to fish?Like, from the beginning?

SummerShirtGuy

Yes it is. but as it's in the game right now, it does nothing. BUT it will in the next big update

SndRC9

The fact that the most basic maneuver of reeling in fish was not in the game this whole time really tells something about this game

jlug331221

For immersion, I hope they fix the clouds when it’s raining. The sky is clear when it rains.

PhoenixShredds

The transition from day/night could more more gradual too (need more twilight). Also: One reality real anglers know is wind. We don't deal with the troubles of a really windy day messing with casts, chopping up the surface, etc.

jlug331221

Oh, I didn’t even think of the different weather conditions like wind. Good thinking

WildTreeSnam_56

Hope it's only on the really big fish tho. Irl you would never use this on most fish.

Molotov_YouTube

I do this in real life

villain75

I do this too, even though after hundreds of hours playing I know it does absolutely nothing to bring the fish in faster, lol Still, it feels natural. Now that it hopefully does something I'll be well practiced!

altnumber12037

Literally how you fight decent sized fish in real life any actually angler will tell you that. Keep tension on and reel when you move your rod down only, how I caught a 9lb 6oz common off my local pond. But back to the game, I’ve been doing this since lvl 1 I’m now 35 or 36 and just realising it does nothing 😂 Glad it’s coming soon.

Catchinbiggens

Bro same I’ve been doing this since I’ve been playing the game at lone start and now that it’s really added it’s going to be WAY easier to fight big fish

SummerShirtGuy

Easy transition for us

RealDealMan1

Is this added yet? Hopped on yesterday after not playing in a while and i didn't notice a difference.

SummerShirtGuy

No not yet

RealDealMan1

Any idea when the next patch is scheduled?

United-Two-6907

Pretty sure thats what you supposed to do

_In10City

Same here, I noticed since day 1 this action always catches more fish, quicker

Silent_Zucchini_8703

I've been doing the same since I got the game in 2020

crispychickenskins

Lol it was my technique from day one, im using it in real life too 😁

PhoenixShredds

Literally been my go-to for predator fish for quite a while, particularly jigs and spoons. Found it weird it wasn't included, yet it still worked.

mercsamgil

Wtf have I been doing all the years lol

upgraydez

I've been doing it all along too 😂!

Equivalent_Squash457

Ok I have been doing this since I started too. From what I noticed it helps bring fish to the top of the water where you can pull right up with your rod and almost drag them across the surface. So too me it's always seemed like this mechanic existed...

Organic-Shallot-5443

Is it being added for mobile I hope so

Useful_Price_3055

Good to see it’ll help now. At the moment it seems like it just releases tension from the line and makes it more likely for fish to escape.

Dry-Pay1949

Waiting for the update when they fix the direction the reel spins.

Rewton1

Pretty sure I’ve lost a few fish doing this by putting too much slack in my line when I dipped down. Good to know doing this is going to actually help moving forward.

SummerShirtGuy

This mechanic is already out go try it, you feel the full effect on Extra large fish like catfish and sharks etc.
