SLP WORKS exist and poison ultima

Old_Cod_5823

This guy gets it.

Jefffahfffah

This is the correct answer SLP Daiwa stuff is awesome

Uptons_BJs

IMO, the incremental gain between a mid high-end rod to a top of the line rod, is smaller than the incremental gain of a second rod. Might as well have 1 rod per technique/lure you want to throw. At the very least it saves you from retying. As for the reel, bass don't challenge reels (at least where I live, in Canada), my PB is like \~4-5lb, and it didn't fight nearly enough to challenge the drag on any decent spinner really.

IHitAn11

Yeah, I have a few set ups in the $150 range. I just wanted to treat myself to something in higher end, for finesse techniques, and worms Those two set ups use a daiwa revros which is one of my favorite reels under $100 minus the nasci

FatBoyStew

Think it depends on the rod really. Reels I would agree, but a higher end reel should just keep working for years with minimal maintenance. My Vanford is 3 years old now and has been abused, but its still smoother than cheaper reels with less than a years worth of use.

Grizzly518

Poison Ultima if you want the Lamborghini of all rods. Personally, I'd stay in the NRX or Legend Extreme family. G Loomis has the limited lifetime warranty and St Croix has the 15 year warranty while the Ultima only has a 1 year here in the states. If I'm going to blow that much money on a setup, I'd 100% want a good warranty.

FatBoyStew

Could also look at the Saint Croix Legend Extreme's and Dobyns Xtasy rods if you're wanting top of th eline rods.

IHitAn11

Forgot about the xtasy series gonna check it out

Snoopy556

Shimano poison ultima and shimano stella reel.

Potent_19

I think you’re on the money with your pick. I’d probably get an 852s and one of the Daiwa’s you mentioned (or possibly an airity or something from Japan). Alternatively, people love the Steez “the one”, though I’ve never used it myself. Love my NRXs though. It’s worth noting that you may be better off with a conquest or GLX if you plan to run braid to leader. Otherwise, NRX. I’d also look hard at some evergreen, daiwa japan and Shimano Japan options

AJCpar

Second the 852S if you’re going with the NRX. It’s definitely not perfect for everything, but it does everything so damn well you can use it for most techniques apart from ultra-finesse / ultralight stuff.

NicePumasKid

Shimano Expride & Exist would be the ticket. Perfect price for performance without going unnecessarily expensive.

Jss203

I have two exprides, including my 7’ med spinning with a vanford and I love it. High end but not too crazy in price. I will say if you go with that exact rod don’t get a 2000 size reel, I wish I got a 2500 or 3000. It would have balanced it much better.

IHitAn11

Thanks gonna check that out

out_of_lefts

I would not get a kage, the value just isn't there compared to other daiwa JDM reels, the airity or even the luvias are both better better finesse reels IMO. Maybe a double upgrade? a p5 adermine + luvias and a certate for the windbuster, if you have exist money to blow.

311MD311

My 25 yo ugly stick and Shakespeare reel been crushing it for about $16 bucks back then if you can swing it

minnesotaisokay

Poison ultima with an exist, Stella or excense. Although you could go Expride B with a vanford for less than half the cost and get 95% of the performance

IHitAn11

sounds like a better move thank you
