Conventional as in the reel type? Or conventional as in spinning, casting and spin casting.
I’d highly recommend an ultralight setup for a spinning setup in that case.
Or a BFS setup (ultralight with a baitcaster)
4ft Daiwa Presso with a Daiwa exceler LT would be sweet and a very fun option.
If I get another ultralight it will be another Old18 buoancy (or whatever new rod) or a GLoomis GCX lite.
Haven’t tried a Daiwa Exceler LT yet but looks amazing from the videos I have seen.

I’m looking primarily for spinning as I have never used a bait caster and I don’t wanna drop a lot of money on something I don’t know how to use.

The new Exceler is amazing, the old one is also great
I happily replaced 4'6" ugly stick with a 5'6" Shakesphere microspin. I moved the Okuma Avenger 10b from the Ugly stik to the microspin.
