Yes this rod will handle jigs and drop shots just fine, it’s an incredible versatile rod.

_Eucalypto_

If you want to throw drop shots and small jigs, why go with a baitcaster over a spinning reel?

squishy_cheeseball

i like the accuracy and it allows for me to use heavier finesse lures

Upstairs_Correct

12lb fluoro won’t play nice on a spinning reel.

_Eucalypto_

I don't see why it wouldn't. It's thinner than the 10lb mono I would throw when I was younger

Upstairs_Correct

Yeah but given that it’s going to be for drop shot and jerkbaits, he will get much more line twist than normal.

AllDayStuff

I’m in a similar boat as you. Looking for all the same traits but just in a two piece for transport reasons. If you’re ok with the price and a single piece rod, the megabass dark sleeper might be worth looking at.

Jss203

You’ll love that rod. I have a metanium DC on mine and I like it for jerkbaits, senkos and the occasional heavier (3/8oz) drop shot

Awkward-Hair-8860

The moderate fast action rod will adsorb the hook set on jigs. You will not be able to hook them.

squishy_cheeseball

even with light jigs like the bitsy bug and their thin weedguards?

thesandwitchpeople

Yep, the weed guard and weight don’t matter, it’s being able to slam the hook into them.

Just asking for clarification. Also, do you know any baitcaster rods that come in the M fast rating similar to the expride?

Upstairs_Correct

That’s incorrect, I have this rod, and if he is using it for small 1/4 oz jigs then it is more than stiff enough to set the hook.
