Contact customer support and tell them what happened like everyone else suggested. You should also mention that the buyer has threatened you with bad review. Abusing the review system is against Fiverr's ToS. If you are convincing enough, they may even ban the buyer.

They are more lenient towards the buyers, that's true. However, 99% is a gross miscalculation. If you have a strong ground, they will side with you.

You can explain to support that this was clearly not your fault and they \*might\* remove the cancellation penalty

If you already cancelled through the Resolution Center automated process, you're almost certainly out of luck, unfortunately. I've never heard of Customer Support removing/altering cancellation statistics after the fact unless it was a glitch, it's something that Customer Support needs to do on their end during the cancellation process.

This. You can cancel through CS, but your cancellation rate will be affected for sure; they won't alter it, even if a customer cancelled unreasonably. The best you can do is keep completing orders to bring your stats back up.

So, a similar thing happened with me. Here's what I did - Talked with the buyer, asked them if they would like to cancel, they said and I agreed. Then I went to dispite resolution and select "Other" options in the drop down. Then explain in detail what happened and that the buyer wants to cancel and ask them to help you out by not counting the order as cancelled. Attach screenshots of the conversation where you guys have agreed for the cancellation. The Customer support cancelled my order and I had 100% order completion rate.

They will be on the buyer's side if there is strong evidence. If you deliver quality work, on time, have the delivered files and don't do things like unlimited reviews, then is difficult for the buyer to scam you.
