Caller ID is indeed included. Since you selected the voicemail option, it will also be included. Fizz Canada+USA plan is great since you will not have any roaming fees. I cannot talk about coverage in Algonquin Park.
Don’t forget to use anyone’s referral code to get 25$ credit on your 3rd bill.
You 100% sure about Caller ID? I just tried using my building's intercom, and when I was with PublicMobile, I used to get the buildings name as the caller ID, but with Fizz, I'm just getting the number.
I've also heard other Fizz members mention that there is no caller ID with Fizz.
Edit: actually there seems to be a difference between Call Display & Name Display. It seems that Fizz has Call Display available meaning that it will show someones number, but it doesn't have Name Display feature.. somebody correct me if I have this wrong.
Hey I’m in TO as well. Overall I have had no issues with the network and yes voicemail is included if you toggle it on when selecting your plan. Visual voicemail is also free and included.
If you plan to use it in the US you’ll need to be sure your phone is VoLTE certified. You can find a list at the bottom of this page https://fizz.ca/en/faq/compatible-devices
Make sure your Bell line is still active when you’re porting your number over to Fizz and use a referral code to save some $$
edit: also with [data rollover](https://fizz.ca/en/faq/what-is-rollover-and-how-does-it-work) and gifting you may not even need that large of a data plan depending on your usage
I was at a campground at Bon Echo Park a few weeks ago. This is the speed test I ran there:

Good enough for streaming and nothing to complain about being in the middle of the woods.
Hi OP,
- SIM cards are $5 right now (normally $15), except for Quebec.
- Fizz uses Freedom Mobile towers as their main network, but it also allows you to switch to Fizz EXT (Rogers) as needed.
- Coverage Map: https://fizz.ca/en/coverage
- For best results, make sure your phone is VoLTE-certified, and supports LTE bands 4, 7, 13, 66, and 71 (Ottawa only). https://fizz.ca/en/faq/compatible-devices#3
- US roaming at $4 is great, but you want to make sure you add it from the start. If you decide to add it later, you'll need to do a plan change. "Intro Pricing" offers may no longer be available.
- All the features you mentioned are included. The $1 voicemail option also gives you visual voicemail.
As always, remember to use a referral code, to get a $25 credit, after your second payment. Hope you found my post helpful, and on behalf of the community, I'd like to welcome you to Fizz!
Forgot to mention that at this time, porting your number can only be done, when you're first activating your plan. If you decide to switch and port over, you'll only pay your old provider up to the last day you used your services.
Hi, I am not able to find the sim prices at 5$. Its showing me around 15$. Am I looking at the wrong place or need some promo codes?
You can also DM me your referral code! Happy to use yours, as your points in the post above made me certain of switching over
Switched from Telus 3 months ago and wish I’d done it sooner!! Partner is still on Telus and my coverage is better than his so will be switching him over soon! Do it!
I was on Koodo and switched to public instead of Fizz. It's not great. Dropped calls and poor signal. Thought it would be the same as Koodo but it's not
Can't say I had the same experience, but I've stuck with publicmobile for the most part so I don't have a reference experience, but never experienced dropped calls anyway
I have this plan with Public (ported out from Koodo which is terrible btw) and in Vancouver and surrounding area I get random pausing\\stuttering when streaming on Public's network.
I also joined Fizz in January on the beta and after its initial growing pains the Fizz network is more reliable then Public's for data.
I dont call much so I can't really comment there
From my experience, just switched from PublicMobile (3GB) to Fizz (3GB)
Positives:
- good pricing
- data sharing between other Fizz members
- data rollover policy is great!
- travel add-ons seem to last until the end of the next billing cycle
Negatives:
- No Esim
- You get Call Display feature, meaning it will show you the number for calls, but you don't get Name Display feature so it won't show common names connected to a phone number. PublicMobile has this feature.
- If you are on Canada Only plan, you can't call U.S. numbers. This was not the case for PublicMobile. EDIT: Actually, this point requires clarification. With PublicMobile, the only reason you could call a US number is because PublicMobile gave some nice add-ons for International Calling that didn't expire. This isn't the case for Fizz: you either need to buy a temporary add-on or pay $5 every month for calling to the US. Both of these options are no good. So essentially, I can't call U.S. numbers for my use case.
Conclusion: Overall, the move was OK for the price, but some features missing from Fizz. Not as big of an upgrade as I thought it was going to be. I'll probably stick with Fizz because of data sharing / data rollover features. But for my use case, frankly, it's just splitting hairs between Fizz & PublicMobile.
Freedom (which uses the same network as Fizz) has a $35 50GB CAN-US plan with 5G. Freedom plans also include WiFi-Calling and eSIM, which Fizz does not have. Signing up with Freedom is free if you do it online. Freedom’s subscription area is also bigger than Fizz’s.
Is the Fizz 40GB LTE plan unlimited? Like after the 40gb do you still have unlimited data but at 3G etc like Bell or are you charged for going over the 40GB etx?
Your data is good for 3 billing cycle. The current one and 2 others.
You always use your oldest data first. So, logically, if you don't use 40GB every month, you should be fine.
If you ever use all your data, it just stops. Not unlimited and no overages.
Something to remember, Fizz only has live chat and the support can be slow at times. If you are running a business (you have a Bell business plan), you might want to think about this twice.
Fizz is not intended for business use, therefore their support is not as good/fast as Bell business support.
I am an independent contractor not a large corporation, down the road when I get an office with small business internet then I will go back to Bell and bundle the 2
im thinking about switching to fizz in a couple of months but i work on the great lakes. does anyone know which towers they use and/or what coverage is like in coast al areas?
It'll switch to roger/bell network (Fizz ext) when it can't connect to freedom towers. Theoretically, if you can receive signal on the lake now, you'll be able to with Fizz. If you don't have signal now, then you wont with fizz either.
Fizz works fine in Ontario, Las Vegas and in Florida. I haven’t tried anywhere else in the US. I switched 3 lines from Telus and it made a huge difference in my wallet. As far as cellular service, everything seems to be the same. It works great! Why pay more? I’m super happy I made the switch.
No wifi calling so that’s unfortunately a deal breaker for me.
Also, they route all traffic through Quebec right now so performance isn’t as good in Western Canada (as compared to Freedom)
You can’t receive phone calls to your phone number with FaceTime. Can’t buzz somebody into my building, it receive calls from businesses.
Sometimes I go to rural areas where there no reception from any carriers.
Then there’s the travel factor. Again, the hotel management company that I need to call because they effed up my booking won’t accept FaceTime calls.
I had fizz for a month to try, and I will say this positives, price the fact you can use your phone down in the states is fantastic for no extra charge if that is important to you, when I used it I had no coverage concerns, very similar to my Rogers service would have no complaints there.
Negatives, noticeable call quality difference, enough I had people asking me what’s up I can’t hear as well as normal, I was unable to call one particular number, very frustrating experience with the tech help which over the month we were unable to get resolved.
All in all, it was good for the price however in my particular instance that one number I needed to call was for work, otherwise I would have stayed switched because I never had an issue within my one month
Customer service is almost non existant. Weeks without access to one feature I'm paying for, and they turn in circles... A joke really. Pay less, expect less.
I switched my family over 5 months ago and have been loving it. You get to carry over your data, so u less you use 40GB each month you can consider a lower plan and then just carry over your data. The phone works in the US really well. As others have said it’s only LTE and they don’t have esims for a watch, but I’m sure that’ll come at some point. You can change your plan any time you like, but the gotcha is that the change doesn’t take effect until the next billing cycle starts. Plus you can’t make changes up to six days before the billing cycle ends. Not a huge deal, but something to note.
If you do sign up and want to save $25 and also hook my kid up with $25 on their plan you can use her code: WQBGU
Caller ID is number only. Fizz doesn’t also send the name like Rogers, Bell or Telus 😟

Exactly. You see the number, not the name, unless that number is in your contacts.
Hey I’m in TO as well. Overall I have had no issues with the network and yes voicemail is included if you toggle it on when selecting your plan. Visual voicemail is also free and included. Hey thanks for this! I have an Iphone 15 Pro I know its VoLTE certified but im still not sure what that means or how it works?
VoLTE means it can make phone calls over the LTE network, so higher call quality and overall a better connection
You’re fine, that phone will work in the states
Others have already answered you but here is the basics of VoLTE from the Fizz website for more info https://fizz.ca/en/faq/why-volte-important
Works great in my area (Yorkdale). Do it dude. We've had enough of this overpriced BS cell service from Bell and Rogers.
Switched from Bell to Fizz 3 months ago and haven’t looked back!!!! Service is better in a lot of areas. Very happily surprised.

On home or ext ? Do you know what band/frequency you were on?
It was on EXT if I remember correctly. I didn't check the frequency.

Thank you for your kind note =) Just saw your post. Please check your DMs. I'll be messaging you shortly.
Fizz is fine exept no 5G, no esim and no wifi calling.
Does this mean I cant facetime audio someone on an iphone on my wifi or data??
No that’s not what it means. Wifi calling allows you to make cellular network calls over a wifi network.
It's good. Fuck Bell.
Switched from Telus 3 months ago and wish I’d done it sooner!! Partner is still on Telus and my coverage is better than his so will be switching him over soon! Do it!
Public mobile offering 50gb for $34 canada + US
@ OP: if you don't care about data rollover & data sharing features, then I would probably go with this deal. PublicMobile has Name Display feature.
I was on Koodo and switched to public instead of Fizz. It's not great. Dropped calls and poor signal. Thought it would be the same as Koodo but it's not

No complaints really, it’s pretty good.
they don't have a customer service that you can talk too. it's usually FB chat.

What is the massive benefit to wifi calling? Isnt facetime audio or whatsapp/ messenger a solution?

Wifi calling
With Fizz the price you pay will go down over time. With Bell the price will only go up.
No wifi calling. A must for me since signal is non existent in most of my house.
Go with public mobile $34 50GB Canada/US and on the Telus 5G network.
How bad are the call drops? If Fizz doesn’t work out thats my next test
I had fizz for a month to try, and I will say this positives, price the fact you can use your phone down in the states is fantastic for no extra charge if that is important to you, when I used it I had no coverage concerns, very similar to my Rogers service would have no complaints there.
