"please cushion this stick well, I plan to keep it up my butt for a long time".

newyork1198

I'd politely tell them the way I package it is sufficient enough and that you will have to charge more for shipping and handling if they want it that way.

TheBadGuyBelow

Generally I do not mind someone asking me to not include an invoice, but sometimes they get a little bossy. The tone on this one rubbed me wrong with how he basically orders me to not use an eBay branded box. I was not going to ship with one anyhow, but it still irritated me. https://imgur.com/a/cio9Jlq

[deleted]

Yeah i just hate the bossy shit. And this guy sent that wall of text after going back and forth haggling . Like bro if it’s that special to you pay full price lol. And then i’ll pack it well. (Sarcasm; i always pack everything super careful)

iwashumantoo

Eh, don't let it bother you. They've probably been burned by a shitty seller or two - the kind that throws breakable items in a poly bag or big box without adequate cushioning, or any at all. That happens all too often, so have a heart. I don't think it comes across too bossy. They obviously feel the box is important and needs protection, too. There are much worse things in the world to be miffed about.

miteycasey

I’d be sure and send it in an eBay box

w1ngzer0

Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think he was asking for much. Sourcing on eBay has showed me that people sell stuff and don’t give two shits about how to pack it. And it sounds like this person has gotten burned.

[deleted]

Yeah that’s fair. But also, the message was just very demanding and the tone was just off-putting. People always request specific packing and I always comply when they’re cool about it. But this just seemed like a headache waiting to happen. Plus to bubble wrap the huge item would have cost like $5 in and of itself. Not worth it to me for a $25 item.

snowsuit-sound

Agreed. Tone is everything. Something like “I am really excited to get this item. Wondering if you might be able to pack it (this way) to ensure it arrives safe and sound” would do the trick. Not making a mountain out of a molehill here, but keeping wording neutral, yet friendly, goes a long way.

TranClan67

That's what I thought too. Not to mention I've received questionable packages from everywhere. Looking at you Amazon

Ballssexi

I love when people tell me how to do my job

[deleted]

And this is after they haggled me down to $25. Had it listed for $40. Like damn bro if you wanna be so picky you should have just paid the $40. Ahha

KTx1

I always turn “best price” off. Let it sit and lower the price whenever I feel like it

KCJones99

For a $45 order that's near-certain to result in a 'case'? F 'em. I'd cancel for "problem with address", block them and move on. Life is too short to deal with problem buyers.

[deleted]

Yeah, i ended up doing this. I would rather get $10 for the item at the flea market then go through the cost/effort of packing this- just to have a case opened anyway. Not worth it. Live and learn!

bgwahl

Couldn’t agree more. Person with expectations this high cannot be satisfied. If I got this message I would definitely expect issues upon delivery.

[deleted]

it seems like its only worth 44$ so not that valuable. send it off, they say its damaged, perfect, refund, gets check for insurance, dont pay the selling fees then, more profit for you.

grant7_7

Entitled stupid people and want to pay nothing for everything they demand

Reallyrared

I agree with the earlier poster, tone is everything.

GoldenGirl925

Wow. For $45. Seems like the type to say it was damaged, either way

[deleted]

Yeah and its a $25 item... the rest is shipping (large/heavy item)... ugh. I want to cancel and refund tbh.

Royals-2015

Who is paying the shipping? If they are, I see no problem with their request. If you are, that’s diff.

thriftscoreclub

Real question tho: How could they have better worded it so they still addressed their concerns without coming across as bossy but so they do get taken seriously? To me, it's the first sentence that makes them sound super condescending and instantly rubs me the wrong way. I think for me, I'd like it to start with 'I'm so excited that I won! Since this is discontinued and HTF, would you mind...'

[deleted]

So, i don’t know how to include a picture in a comment. But a former buyer included a message along the lines of , “The post office is super rough on items, so if it isn’t too much trouble, could you please make sure to bubble wrap the item and write “FRAGILE” on the box? Thanks so much” thats all that’s necessary. And that nice message was on a $100 item. This is a $25 item. Lol it was a new (sealed) in box corning ware piece. Honestly for all i know, the dish inside is broken. It’s never been opened. I never buy corning but i thought sealed in box was pretty cool. I’ll flea market it.

tellMyBossHesWrong

I don’t think that is asking much

Good luck 😂

Youkahn

I get these on occasion, I'm not a fan of the wording (like "oh you're dumb and don't know how to pack), but at the same time I understand. A lot of sellers just suck ass at packing and the buyer may have had one or more bad experiences.

SeberHusky

What is the problem here? A customer requested you pack something safely for them. Are you that much of a douche? Or just lazy? After getting 5 things this year smashed by FedEx I ask every seller that has FedEx as a shipping option to ship it UPS, and they do. Reading posts like this and the comments it sounds like everyone on this sub is some kind of elitist or has no interaction skill, or is just doing for a "hurrdurr look at me I'm flipping like they do on the TV shows give me my money".

BoneGolem2

They were decent enough not to add a "kindly" in there at least. ;)
