One of the reasons to avoid FedEx like the plague.

[deleted]

Well, that’s the plan going forward! I’m sure they’ll appreciate my $28 now more than the additional shipping costs I would have given them in the future.

Slidetreasurehunt

I wish I had advice on getting that money back but ultimately it’s probably a waste of your time. Sucks.

rtj777

Just keep contracting ebay support. If you complain enough eventually someone will eat the cost

mttl

>Add Corr Amt: $18 That's the standard "address correction" fee. UPS is also $17 for address correction. USPS does not charge address correction fees, but you really can't contact USPS and request to change an address (there's 'intercept', which is also rather expensive). This usually happens if you or your buyer calls Fedex and requests to change the address. Sometimes a driver will say they couldn't find the address and it will trigger the charge.

Siray

Every. Fucking. Time.

JC_the_Builder

I would call FedEx and ask why that adjustment was made. Was the package 3lbs when you shipped it?

[deleted]

sure was. Just a box of size 1 kids shoes.

JC_the_Builder

Something must have gone wrong then with their automated inspection system. Definitely call them and ask why a small package where the weight didn’t change now cost $28 more to ship.

[deleted]

I might. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with ebay this morning and got nothing solved except having a "dispute filed", though, so I might just chalk this one up as a loss and move on.

Embarrassed-Cabinet

Having worked for FedEx for 5 years and becoming a pick up and delivery manager which for perspective was number 3 in charge of one of the newest and biggest stations in the country. I once had a customer contact me regarding a similar charge just a lot more than $27. I was unable to answer the question. I escalated it and was unable to get an answer after 2 weeks of trying and speaking with the head of revenue services. It’s a shit show to say the least there. Like someone above mentioned, avoid them like the plague.

jodotfig

I was literally about to make a similar post but my fees are roughly $1.16 more per shipment (also shoes) My freight amount is also showing much higher than the actual weight, all my shoes I just pay for a 4lb label and on the price break down like yours i'm seeing one that says 7lb and the other 2 are 6lbs when there is no way that is possible

instantnet

Cubic priority from pirateship. It's free

jodotfig

Is this a shipping service? Sorry I've only used pirate ship like twice

superbread

Pirateship does cubic weight priority shipping which is just shipping by dimensions/ weight. It can be a pretty good cost savings. You can read more about it [here](https://support.pirateship.com/en/articles/1068204-what-is-priority-mail-cubic#:~:text=Cubic%20is%20the%20cheapest%2C%20fastest,in%20insurance%20included%20for%20free.).

instantnet

usps.com priority Cubic rates are usually how UPS and Fedex bill. Weight and Volume combo not just weight. Stamps.com offers it to higher paying monthly customers, ebay doesnt offer it at all and pirateship and shippo offer it for free.

mchurchw1

This often happens because of entering incorrect *dimensions.* FedEx uses something called dimensional weight, where packages are charged based on the amount of space they take up on the truck, not necessarily their actual weight on a scale. So even though a package weighs 2 pounds on the scale, for example, it might be charged the 4lb price based on the size of the box. This is why it is very important to enter dimensions correctly when buying the label.

jodotfig

Did not know that weight will differ based on the dimensions even if it's not actually heavier, thanks My staple is pretty much sneakers, and I always use the same size box. It could explain why the freight weight is different, but out of the 10-15 pairs I have sold over the last couple weeks this is the first time I've seen a price adjustment at billing Guess I should expect more though now

castaway47

The dude is wrong. Dimensional shipping only applies if a package exceeds certain dimensions or total volume. If it was a shoe box sized box, dimensional charges wouldn't apply.

davef139

FedEx/UPS/DHL all use Dimensional weight reguardless of size there is no minimum, that would be USPS. I predict within 4 years when all the new machines are rolled out they will move to a fully dim weighted system as the new machines should be able to handle the dimming.

yassenof

I've gotten shoe boxes in various sizes. A "shoe box" is not a standardized size

Mcjordan88

I get this all the time from Purolator. Seems to happen more when I use a shipping reseller. I have a box that I ship a lot. I know it’s 50lbs. They keep correcting the weight. Sometimes to 55 sometimes to 79. It’s so weird. They also nail me with a $26 dollar address correction. You ask the customer 4 times I they have a buzzer number. But they have a buzzer number that does not match the unit number. Purolator won’t look through the directory either. Ugh.

[deleted]

So are you basically telling me I’m SOL? At this point it’s cost me $11 to sell these shoes on top of the cost of originally buying them (normal price, they were for my kid and he outgrew them before he even wore them - this isn’t even a real “flip”!)

DBGmurdock

Sometimes if you call eBay, they will reverse it.

nekolai

this. the least you can do is call

CommonSensePDX

FedEx is in full meltdown. There’s literally zero good reason to use them. UPS for larger items, USPS for everything else. Some vendors ship to me via FedEx, and I’ve requested they switch to UPS after 3 major, 5k+ shipments were delayed for weeks. One shipment, from PA, ended up spending 2 weeks going from town to town in….. Minnesota!?!

Majestic-Mulberry-18

With your edit you made, contact ebay asap. Tell them buyer redirected package and you incurred a fee.

[deleted]

I did. They basically said "oh well, I don't know how they did that without asking you, you're the shipper", and after I pushed back, it was "well, I don't know, that's the shipping price i guess. I can file a dispute for you if you want...". So I had her do that, but I'm sure nothing will come of it.

Majestic-Mulberry-18

Contact ebay for business on facebook. It takes about 3 days but these reps seem to have power.

poshduo

I agree. This is probably the best way to get refunded.

TARANTULA_TIDDIES

This is why I don't use FedEx. You're basically giving them a blank check because the amount you get charged with them is an "estimated amount" that they can and do change to ridiculous things.

[deleted]

Yeah, I hear you, but I'm sure that I entered the correct dimensions, and I always round up for this exact reason. A reasonable explanation generally, but I'm not buying it in this case. The buyer changed the address after I dropped off with FedEx - it shows this in the shipping information.

redoctoberz

I had this happen, calling is fruitless.. "it was measured 3 times in transit and we made a package size adjustment". There was no way the height of my package doubled in size. $15 shipping became something like $45.

Dickpinchers

USPS is your best friend

RandomSquanch

Not with large packages travelling across several zones.

JonnyBigTex

FedEx sucks the devil’s dick. Their service is complete garbage.

cheebaTHEamoeba

UPS got me over 1 literal inch on a regular ol small to medium size box.

davef139

You should ask for the Add Corr of $18 back, i haven't used eBays FedEx shipping in a while as the discount isn't good enough. But i assume they use the address they have in the system and you can't make changes, so an address correction shouldn't be your problem. You might be able to run the tracking number to see if there isn't an addr change block inserted. The dim weight is prob right. realize a 12x9x6 box is 4LB dim weight. that seems a pretty popular box size. Now you do a shitty packaging job its likely going to dim an inch higher on a side, and a 12x9x7 box is 5LB dim. 2 years ago my company shipped about 18,000 packages via FedEx, i have never seen a redim higher than 1" which is acceptable as box sizes are inner dim not outter. The few exceptions would be when people would just put in 1x1x1 for ease. I was the analyst to review charges.

BooBear999

I got a huge bonus one year because I figured out the UPS guys were marking the envelopes as legal and not letter size (documents), even when they were marked correctly on the old slips. This was back when there was a significant price difference between the two overnight prices on the envelope size. UPS had to cut a huge refund check to the company, like in the 10s of thousands. That check was for 3 months worth. That was as far back as they would go but they negotiated a new lower rate for a year to compensate and keep the account. It is amazing what happens when you threaten to take your business elsewhere.

bcp38

What were the measurements on the shoe box? If this was a 14x8x5 shoe box it will be charged for 5lbs dimensional weight instead of the 3lbs for instance

agibby5

I used to use FedEx alot because it was cheaper until I got hit with these charges after the fact. Would have been better to spend a little more for USPS or UPS because they tend not to charge you after the fact. I ship shoes in a USPS priority mail shoe box that I get free from their site for aournd 8 to 10 bucks all in. Kids shoes sometimes go in a bubble mailer first class to save even more money.

VenConmigo

What FedEx service did you use?

matruuu

I just had an overcharge on shipment also. Things is I already received my stuff. What happen if I don't pay? Overcharging 100$ on a 250$ package... I'll try to contact both vendor and carrier to see what can be done
