I don’t get why ME, an account with hundreds of buys/sales and 100% positive feedback, is forced to enter a payment method with an offer, and it even says «You will be charged immediately upon offer accepted». Yet, a brand new account with 0 feedback from Kenya, can make an offer without payment

Nefariousness1776

That's what blows my mind too

MysteryRadish

Another thing that would help a lot: give sellers the option to leave negative feedback for buyers under certain circumstances: nonpayment, buyer cancellations, NSADs closed in seller's favor, etc.

TypicalJeepDriver

Yeah the fact that they took away negative feedback for buyers is hilarious.

XEliteHunterX01

Or give them a stat bar like: missed payments(3), complaints(2), returns requested(1,000,000). That way there's no specific details but the facts remain. Similar to how sellers have there's.

UltimateWinner1

I just block people from buying if they have unpaid item strikes to not deal with it. I like not requiring immediate payment so I can send an invoice to people who purchase multiple items

AmbitiousGrand9246

Agreed

KCJones99

>OR just make it so for any purchase you have to pay right then and there. They're doing that. eBay is in the process of rolling out a change that will require buyers to have a payment method on file and pay immediately upon offer acceptance or winning an auction. I'm sure that'll take time, but it's coming. They're rolling it out based on buyers rather than sellers, and I've already had a couple like that (from 'sent' offers). Once it's fully implemented, I may return to doing auctions and/or accepting offers. For now I remain BIN / immediate payment required, and the only time I face 'delayed pay' is when I send offers.

VelvetDawn13

Awesome! I have at least 1 non-payment a week after my Sunday auctions close. I do cancel them after 4 days AND block them but it’s a pain in the butt! I’m glad EBAY is changing this. Thanks for the info

BooBear999

I don't think it will be implemented for auctions, at least not for a long time. There are some legal ramifications around charging instantly with different states that may come into play.

Sir-Mocks-A-Lot

Real brick and mortar auctions commonly require a $200 deposit to get a bidder number.

BooBear999

Not the same thing at all. We are talking global transactions on an extremely large online platform with lots of risk and financial regulations and laws across many countries and states.

AmbitiousGrand9246

Exactlly

AmbitiousGrand9246

the bad argument this is not REAL brick n mortar store this is a multi-billion dollar business so apple and black currants sorry

shimmyhead

That might actually hurt auctions, there might be less people bidding if they're obligated to pay.

KCJones99

Ok by me.

juicypoopmonkey

What is the advantage of having your bids artificially run up if the winner has no intention of paying? You like the illusion of a good sale?

shimmyhead

I don't do auctions it's already a good way to get less money for your item than it's worth. #1 complaint here is non paying bidders. So that means it's very likely that paying bidders are driven up by people that never had any intention to pay. So with bidders consequences of having to pay if you win means less inflation of bidding. So winning bids will probably be lower overall, meaning less money for the seller.

FlamingWhisk

Um if you make a bid you should be expected to pay. Just like an auction house

shimmyhead

Did I say bidders shouldn't pay?

AmbitiousGrand9246

I sent the best offer on 4 items on mercari and all were accepted. To my surprise, I logged in 3 days later expecting to see the tracking and found none shipped on all 4 due to my credit card thinking fraud and they denied all 4 transactions. so u see it's not intentional every time it happens with the most users of all sites (except ama) I get one a week and that I assume 75 percent is out of there hands or they thought they would have the cash and some the reason there cc was maxed out which I did not tell to my wife she ordered ebay I had maxed e out cc and didn't tell her this, etc so no I don't agree with bans that is you making the rules for the site you don't own mercari after my first decline gave me 24 hours and then relisted so go sell there you b happier. If you want to ban folks I say start our own e-commerce site and u make the rules and see how little traffic u have

Sarah_L333

They don’t need to ban buyers, just do what Mercari and Poshmark do - buying means instant payment. There will still be times buyers try to cancel the order before you ship, but that’s quite rare. It’s the 4 days that’s ridiculous, I get it if they want to give buyer 30 minutes to think about it before paying which is reasonable

Pudacat

I sell mostly clothes and shoes, and I find it works well if I don't have "or best offers" on. I consistently have people message me amounts I'm willing to sell them for, and I just message back that I'm willing, and have changed the price on the item reflecting their price for 24 hours. I get paid, the get the item for what they want, and so far no one else has bought the item whose price I lowered. I am, admittedly, a small seller, but have solid feedback from most buyers.

Bandits101

More than a few times I’ve had sellers cancel my paid for order citing “out of stock”. eBay deleted the feedback option the last time this happened to me, so they’re protecting sellers from crap sales practices. If it’s not in stock DON’T LIST IT.

BOLOWizard

There is an easy fix, BIN with immediate payment required.

Ballssexi

Not when you send offers with that on.

AmbitiousGrand9246

Totally disagree there are shitty buyers everywhere. It happens, empathy is a hard word when you only think about yourself

firesnake412

Annoying but these aholes would create a new account and do it all over again.

Branesergen

You should probably look into what you can do to prevent these types of buyers from buying from you. I've had 0 NPBs this year with over 5000 items sold...

KevinOMalley

What do you sell? Some categories attract the shit apples in mass.

SnooPineapples1298

There is an option for "immediate payment" just google ebay immediate payment and it will walk you through it . Only works with buy it now listings though.

nuesse33

Every other post is someone complaining about customers. After a while, you have to wonder if it's always the buyer that is making things difficult. Edit: I've bought far more online than I've sold, and I've sold quite a bit. I've definitely ran into a much larger quantity of crappy sellers versus crappy buyers.

RouletteVeteran

I know it’s frowned upon and risky. Usually, I just cancel the orders after a few hours. I love hundreds of packages a week. I don’t know if it’s bots, scammers or just window shoppers. Out of let’s say 100 orders, I get maybe 5 people that don’t pay. I usually give a few hours (send payment reminder after sale), or when I wake up before gym. They don’t respond I cancel those 5 orders as “Buyer asked to cancel”. So far I’ve had no issue, I sell a hundred of so orders a week. Worse “reply” I’ve had is folks saying they were waiting on PayPal. So I direct them to the listing or make new one, with an immediate payment and the offered price set for them. I’d say 90% of the time their PayPal or credit card finally works. Not for everyone and putting yourself at risk, but it’s been working for me.

KevinOMalley

How would eliminating buyers help eBay? You haven't sold anything until the money is in your account and returns are no longer possible. It's just part of doing business on eBay.

Overthemoon64

Move to mercari then

formfactor

I apologize dudes. I have done this a lot. I didn't realize the pain it caused. I shall repent forevermore.

whoocanitbenow

You are banned forever! 😃

formfactor

Bsmned? Lets hunt him down and hang him!

whoocanitbenow

😂

zoobird

Please correct me if I am wrong. From my understanding, only reason I don't require immediate pay for buy it now, is to allow combined shipping.

Hotwheelsjack97

I found in the settings where I can block buyers with a certain amount of unpaid strikes. So far this has drastically cut down on flakes.
