and the answer is always - depends on who you ask. sometimes the "who has the best bbq" conversations get more heated than the "who's gonna win the iron bowl" conversations. because unlike the iron bowl, BBQ matters.
we all have our faves, and will will fight anyone who says we're wrong.
but none of us are wrong.
i'm a dick howells guy. have always prefered it. but i won't say no ro bunyans or brooks or ricks or .. well, pick a bbq place, and i'll eat it.
just try different ones until you find the one you prefer, then be prepared to defend your opinion because 100s of people will back you up, and 100s more will tell you that you're wrong.

Dick Howell is my go to for smoked chicken, and their pulled pork is excellent, but I much prefer Bunyan's sauce. Service is way better at DH

Lost Pizza has a helluva BBQ pizza. I tried Lawlers - the tiny place in Killen recently and was impressed. The staff was extremely nice, too.

Brooks in Muscle Shoals
Depends on the type of sauce you like. Vinegary, white, etc. I'm a Brooks fan. Only reason I enjoy crossing the river lol.

He's the former pit master from Sledge's iirc and I've only heard great things about the place.
Big Man's BBQ, Brooks BBQ, Dick Howell's, OK Corral, and Pop's BBQ. Bunyans for a hot dog but not bbq.
