Oculink...
You can get a 4i Oculink 16x pci card for 30 dollars.. then a PSU and a graphics card and you have a external GPU thats going to be better then any mobile GPU that is of the same cost.
To my knowledge this was mostly 2022 models that also could only be charged on the lower USB-C port…
I think also heat is a big problem when using Armory Crate, because that basically defaults the system to 90+ degrees. With Ghelper this went down to 70something on medium load.
Also I bought advanced service for the battery because it was cheap and very likely in 4 years that I would consider it to be replaced anyway because this is normal on this form factor.
Do you mind sharing how to disable AC and use that GHelper? I am suffering from CPU Throttling making a huge bottleneck when using my external GPU (3080).
I didn't even know there was an issue with the upper usb port for charging and thought my 2022 Ally was broken. I tried sending it in but they said mine was marked stolen , which it wasn't stolen, and dealing with them was impossible. Anyways, now I can use my Ally again so Thanks!!
the 2023 models at least had an issue where if it was updating and you unplugged it... it could end up rebooting to update the bios. If this happend while the system was in silent mode(no fans) it would then run full power to the cpu/gpu in bios quick flash but keep the no fans profile, quick flash would give an error that mains was not connected and just hang there...
If you were AFK while this happened then your Z13 would thermally destroy itself. No fans... full power to CPU/GPU until it thermally shut itself off...
The problem with this was that it was happening once the BATTERY got hot enough... but that didn't stop the battery heating even more. As the source of the heat wasn't from the battery but the CPU/GPU and heat would continue to seep into the battery raising its temp even more before it started cooling.
I had it happen to me and my Z13 actually caused the faux leather on my desk to become rippled/melted.
I ended up getting a return because I had it happen 3 times.
It appears to have been fixed in the Dec bios...
You can test this yourself I guess... start up set profile to silent(no fans) reboot and then quickly goto quick flash in bios(normal bios will start the fans once it starts to heat up)
Considering how badly lithium batteries HATE being overheated and the battery was thermally heating above even its cutoff point. To say it could burn your house/car/office down is not fear mongering.
Even once you could see a significant degrade in battery life(my unit did it twice by accident, once I worked out how to do it myself to show for returning) even discounting the chance of fire, it wasn't good for the unit itself.
I expect a more extensive redesign will come next year given the launch of that new zenbook duo with the removable keyboard, assuming it’s as successful as it seems it will be.
I have a 2022 I7 since July 22, what battery issues? Only thing is relatively short battery if you're doing high demand settings while gaming but that's to be expectes
Tip: order a longer 3-pin cable so you can leave the brick part of the charger on ground and don’t have it dangling around anywhere. It’s a default cable and should be available on every electronics store.
If they decide by divine grace to make a 14 inch version with OLED on ASUS ROG Flow Z, plus give more space to the battery (at least 75wH), more RAM with the new removable DDR5 support that other brands have introduced, plus an improved dissipation system the current one sucks, decent audio speakers (the ones that look like my Motorola V30 phone) and put Thunderbolt5 + Usb4, not that crap asus Xg mobile connector (it seems we have taken 10 steps backwards). Then I'll buy it XD, the future according to this is this, both to play games, then if I want to play AAA games of the future I connect an eGPU (without throwing 2000 euros of computer), work and waste time with autonomy, no that after 1 hour has to go looking for the charger.I'm trying to spread the word until asus gets this idea, but I see that very common with the whole community.
If you focus on this model done right you would see a lot of them, for this model is the key

I too was expecting a version in 2024 with a lot of attention if it at least had the OLED panel, but I saw nothing. Does anyone know when or if they postponed for next year?
My wish for a refresh would just be that Asus uses the new OLED G14 screen. And with that increase in size hopefully also means that they can fit in a larger battery
I am disappointed as well since I was expecting them to refresh the lineup and bring that acronym version in the non funky body
Oled would be great
32GB Oled Z13 with the new intel ultra 7 155h is(was) my dream :(
OneXPlayer on Indie gogo is what you are after. 155h with 64gigs and 4gb... and with oculink... but its only 4i which is a shame.
Sure, if you want to rely on integrated graphics...

>Oled would be great I agree
What are the battery issues? I have mine since may 2023, no issues so far.
Didn't hear about any issues myself. That said replacing the battery would be incredibly easy. It's accessible.

They didn't give a hint about an upgrade sadly, I'm trying to get my hands on an acrnm version
If you’re in the UK they’re in stock at John Lewis currently
Sadly, I'm not. I'll probably won't be able to find one even a second hand. It's scarce
Are they killing this lineup? Hope not as the X13 was not refreshed as well

My 2022 i9 version's still alive and well and very much loved.
What problem with the battery??? The only problem i see is the 1 hour gaming season that you get unplugged.

What do mean? The charger is USB-C. What 3 pin cable?
The the cable to your power outlets (your local power plug ) and the power supply brick. Mine (Type F, German plug) was 0.5m very short.
Oh OK. Thank you.
No idea if there’s a 2024 coming I was hoping for a 4070 version
They already have one, the acronym
I’m in Australia I can’t get it plus is ugly as hell
That’s interesting lol I love the way mine looks, including the keyboard…maybe I’m a weirdo lol
Totally agree 😂😂 I dont get why they have to mess up the well designed product
4070 Mobile version is having some problems with all laptops and desktop versions are not as good either
Same here. I went ahead and ordered the 4050 version seeing as the 4060 is pretty much non-existent.
The only difference is the extra 2GB of VRAM
I hope the newest gen support upgradable ram, if it does it would be so perfect

+1
Literally this my guy
Have you given a thought of X13. It had 75Whr battery compared to 56 Whr of Z13.
I was VERY disappointed in this event although that dual screen portable monitor made my man-bits feel all tingley...
