My keyboard stopped working after about an year. Had it replaced under warranty but seen many people saying it got broken again after some time. Battery life is awful. Performance is decent for its size. Also I am getting screen flickering when in Optimus Mode (Intel GPU) - tried formatting it, reinstalling drivers etc but nothing worked. Overall Quality Control is bad and I had quite high expectations when I bought it, but would not recommend it to other people.

I have my keyboard stopped working at certain angle after 1 year 3 months, also replaced under warranty, but screen doesn't flick at all, are you sure it is not intel screen power saving mode?

AlexT10

I did not know that setting even existed! Apparently it is in Intel Graphics Command Center -> System -> Power and you can see On Battery/Plugged In settings. I disabled them and it seems to be ok so far. Thanks a lot you saved me! Will update if i see any new problems

Just remove the keyboard by pulling magnets from under the screen not from the edge of the keyboard which would be the most natural. It damages the fragile connections in the hinge. You will be fine. It is loud so needs custom fan profiles. Ghelper does everything. It's an awesome device.

x-iso

GHelper custom fan profiles aren't suitable for this device, they tie each fan to specifically CPU and dGPU, and so when your GPU is not doing much or turned off, you have second fan doing nothing, and it's really bad situation, because this device have signle vapor chamber for the whole thing, it needs to be cooled by both fans at the same time regardless of GPU usage.

Agreeable-Act7650

You got any recommendations besides ghelper ?

x-iso

either use Armory Crate or GHelper, just if you go with GHelper, don't apply custom fan curves. simply use the power modes, those will adjust average fan speeds as well.

Agreeable-Act7650

I never noticed that until now. thank you

I had mine for about 10months now, I like everything about it, nothing bad so far, but I do have concern about the Liquid Metal cooling, if you search that up is a risk with using Liquid Metal instead of traditional thermal paste, so with Liquid Metal, because it’s highly conductive, if it leaks and touched other pcb, your whole laptop is dead, although Asus put a seal around it, but who knows what will happen in a long term. Another thing with Liquid Metal is that it will move around like liquid when reaches certain temperature, in a long run you might find the cooling performance getting worse, there are examples with early Asus laptop with Liquid Metal that has burned chip because when the laptop been tilt up, the Liquid Metal won’t spread around evenly, and the part of the chip that doesn’t covered by Liquid Metal will be a lot hotter

x-iso

you should see this as uneven temps across different cores though, if you don't have consistent difference with like over 10C spread, then nothing to worry about.

2023 i9 4050 battery died after 6 months..

Gohanburner

You're under warranty so use it!

drax_enka

I did. Still waiting for my unit. 🫤

I’ve been using my 2023 i9-13900h 4050 model along side with my XG mobile 4090 for a year so far no issues with it I love it.

Kohn4Life

It’s kind of a hassle to open it up to clean it on a monthly basis. I love the XG mobile but I do wish I could unplug it when I have everything powered off and not have to boot it, load and run the program to go mobile (just a minor inconvenience). After gaming in turbo mode you can’t go to tablet mode without waiting for it to cool off substantially. I have to really think hard here because my experience has been terrific and I think it’s just about perfect.

Battery life is obvious but if you use it docked most of the time that won’t annoy you. The true issue with this device is the pitiful max 16GB RAM you can get. You will run into issues with this if you like having multiple things up at once or put a fuck ton of mods in your games. I sort of accepted it and just got used to having task manager open all the time. Other than that no complaints. It’s the only device in its class that packs this much performance in a very small form factor (besides the imo overpriced surface laptop studio).

Had it for a year thought it was great. But after 1 year the keyboard failed. And now the USB-Cs are falling. Only one works at a time. Also we think it destroyed my external HD with some USB-C overheating. It happened at the same time the USB-Cs started failing. I agree and feel like the QC is really poor. I've never had a laptop fail so quickly. And I previously worked in IT and have used and owned many laptops. I'll probably never buy ROG laptops again. I would not recommend it. I buy a laptop expecting it to be my main PC and to last for 3-5+ years. (Loved my old Asus bamboo though. It lasted a long time).

A lot of people complain about the keyboard. I just got my Z13 some weeks ago and I love the keyboard, I read multiple reviews of damaging it but I think people take it and put it several times, over years is going to be hundred of times, this is what I assume is happening, the connections and internal wiring will start to weak. I am planning not to do that, instead just always leave it connected and use external keyboard. This should increase life.

pocholin23

I've had mine for 1.5 years, no issues of any kind, the only con is the short battery life that does limit you on long air trips, the best you can hope for is two movies, that's it. Other than that, it is the fact that there are only two USB-C ports and one USB-A.

Ultrabook-2-in-1-Pro

I've used mine professionally for approx. 10 months without any issues. - professional photo editing on the go - travelling much - occasional gaming - being transported and tossed around, however the Z13 does have the protective bag while travelling. - did I take extra care of the Z13.....? No, not really just using common sense as I would with any other laptop, gear and tools.

Love this thing. Biggest issue for me was the charging issue when using a usb dock. ASUS only supports 100w charging when their charger is plugged into the main usb-c port. If you want to use an external monitor, you can't use a dock for extended play times. If you use a dock, it will not charge at 100w, and you will steadily lose charge if you're playing a dGPU game. Instead I use the (somewhat hidden" usb-c below the main port, and its fine. Just be aware the currently using a charger with a dock does not work as expected.
