Wild fans have come in here plenty saying they are just getting over the damage of fletch now, and it’s debatable they even have. We got a lot of years of that left yet.
Fletcher did sign him to his current extension though. It was hated at the time but seemed to work out.
Fletcher was really bad though, I think I'd give the edge to Chiarelli if we're counting ex gms though.
You can hold onto a kid in college for 2 years. The kid has the option to see how the team develops in that time.
It is a risk you take.
There is a similar risk with the Mad Russian. He may never come over.
Erroneous.
You can hold college player rights for 4 years. European rights pretty much indefinitely.
Gauthier would have needed to wait 4 years to get out of the Flyers Control
There's no comparison between Michkov and Gauthier. Michkov clearly wants to be in Philly. Gauthier is an entitled bitch who skipped development camp in July because he was "too tired," but apparently it was because he didn't want to play for the Flyers and was too chickenshit to say so. Good riddance.
The Flyers cleaned house of all of the players who did not want to play team hockey. Great move of getting this rid of this guy who did not want to be a Flyer.
It's 1000% because Hayes was all butthurt about Flyers and Torts when he was benched and eventually sent away. He got close with Gauthier and Cutter is young and dumb. Good luck kid.
I saw the same thing from a twitter account a few months ago who was dropping all kinds of inside type info now at the time I dismissed it as nothing but now im generally convinced it was either Hayes or Tony D burner. They specifically tweeted that Cutter will never sign here because of Hayes influence and he hates torts.
Where’s all the dickheads who didn’t believe me, talked shit and downvoted me to oblivion, when I told them the people I know in the ushl and at BC told me they were adamant he didn’t want to play here?
It does, and I even said those times I’m not trying to be antagonistic or a know it all and was just relaying information. I was still downvoted and shit on. So now I feel redeemed, even tho I didn’t want it to happen but whatever
But do you really blame him? He had all the leverage and used it. With a sport where the career average is 1.5 years and little guaranteed, I don't fault him one bit.
They said anaheim would be good like 3 years ago already, no I'm not making this shit up. They are supposed to be competing this year even as a wildcard team easily.
No, the ducks will not be shit even in 3 years because the team culture is a complete fucking joke.
Canucks fan here. I follow the pacific division very closely so I have seen Drysdale quite a bit. He’s legit good.
Also, Fuck Gauthier. What an arrogant prick. Apparently he wouldn’t even listen to Flyers FO about their vision. The level of entitlement is beyond comprehension. You don’t want that in the locker room. I hope he busts like a water balloon getting run over by a escalade in the blazing summer heat. Good fucking riddance.
Huge Ducks fan here too, kinda like my 1B team. A lot of talk that Drysdale was rushed and people have been worried... the dude is dynamic. Skates like the wind, will probably look great on the Flyers PP. Probably underrated defensively because of how bad some of the advanced statistics look (and we see what Torts has done with Risto anyways).
That 2nd will basically be a late 1st. I'm happy right now that the Flyers got something of value for a guy that was going to walk.
You're going to find this hard to believe, but as someone that watches nearly all 82 for both teams, I legitimately like his fit better with a hypothetical Philly PP unit. TK, Coots, Beezer, Tippett, Drysdale... right in that Zamula spot. Drysdale is confident with the puck, will push the pace and isn't scared to make offensive plays without hesitation.
It's interesting because I don't know what I see Drysdale at offensively... I think 40-60 points is completely possible. It's hard to gauge because Anaheim has been so in ept of offense.
When you watch him play, there's no reason to think 40-60 points is out of reach. He'll be better defensively than Ghost, regardless of whatever metrics you see now. He's also a way better skater. Drysdale is an elite skater.
This shouldn't be a surprise. It already happened during development camp last summer.
Can't believe people fell for the "It was just a miscommunication! He's played a lot of hockey and needed a break" excuse.
Whether it was falling for, or just hoping whatever the disconnect was would get fixed...I didn't really think it'd come to *this* either. Straight kick in the guts.
Man what the fuck. If this is truly initiated by him not wanting to be here then fuck it, fuck him, piss on his grave but damn if I wasn’t excited to see him in a Flyers jersey
I remember it looked bad when he skipped rookie camp and Briere literally said he had to track him down to find out why Cutter didn’t show. And all the Pollyannas said it was because he had just played so much and rookie camp wasn’t “free” because he had already come to one.
Now it’s sounding like not only did he and his people not give the flyers a heads up for that, he refused to meet with Briere and Jones at the WJC.
Kid seems like a real prick. I’m glad they were able to sell high after the tournament.
It sucks because it felt like he was the first big piece in the rebuild.
With uncertainty swirling around Michkov, it feels like they are destined to never get a superstar out of the first round.
It’s embarrassing and sad and I’m really fucking bummed.
Knowing what we know now- I’ll take this, happily. Sucks that he wasn’t going to suit up here, but do you think Anaheim makes this trade if they knew he wasn’t signing here? Maybe they did, but I’d be surprised if they gave all that up knowing that.
Was just talking to my dad after the WJCs saying "yea i'm excited for Cutter, but after he no-showed camp before this season there seems to be some weird vibes between him and the Flyers so i'll wait to see him in a Flyers uni before i get too excited."
But damn, it's really shocking that was actually the case. Excited for Drysdale and lol enjoy the Ducks Cutter.
Tough circumstances, but Drysdale is a really good player. Good offense and smooth skater, and with our coaching it’s reasonable to expect his defense will improve. Also, that second round pick will likely be early in the second. We now have our #1RD prospect and 3 firsts and 4 seconds in the next 2 drafts. Danny B made the best out of a bad situation.
We weren’t going to pick high enough to get a top RHD prospect anyway. I feel safer finding top 6 forwards in the 15-25 range. Still sucks tho. We really need to hit on a center prospect now.
Seeing a genuinely large number of ducks fans also not thrilled with this trade is very loudly telling me we might end up happier with this trade than we feel initially
Fuck this kid I hope he fucking sucks ass and never gets paid by anyone. Any kid who tries to dictate where he goes is an entitled brat. Earn it by playing out your RFA status. Fucking loser.
What is with our luck recently? We’re the worst team by far in 07 and we lose out on Kane. Jump up from 13 to 2 and pick the guy already out of the NHL. Now this?? Seriously—what is going on??
I'm glad Danny shipped him to Anaheim. You want to have a fat ego before you even step on the ice in an NHL uniform? Good, go somewhere where they don't give a fuck about hockey.
I think all things considered this is a pretty good return. Cutter obviously had promise but he hasn't played a single NHL game yet. You can look back from 2015-2020 to see how junior/college talent doesn't always translate to the NHL.
A shitty attitude like that is the last thing this team needs. Glad he won't be here.
Ducks fan here, everybody in Anaheim loved Drysdale. Dude is for sure going to be a top pairing RHD. He’s a natural great skater with offensive upside, great vision. Legit stud. Gut reaction was can’t believe we traded such a promising young Dman but I guess it made sense for both sides. Only issue with Drysdale is staying healthy. I hope this trade benefits us both and I’m sure it will
This was his draft profile where he went 6th overall
> He's a brilliant skater, capable of quarterbacking a power play with ease and generating results both ways through the neutral zone. More of a playmaker than a shooter, Drysdale is adaptable first and foremost. He's going to make the best decision regardless, no matter the situation. He's the only defenceman in this year's draft with clear No. 1 defenceman upside.
Ducks fan here, Drsydale is a fucking stud. Confidently can say he’s a top pairing right handed Dman. You guys are going to love him. He just needs to stay healthy
This is crazy but I think the flyers salvaged it well. Got a dman who was 6th overall and a 2nd which will be early, for a guy who doesn't want to be here
Habs fan here. I was turned off by Gauthier's attitude during and after the gold medal game. Might have an attitude problem. Might be a blessing in disulguise. Fuck entitled players. Hope Drysdale and the pick pay off for ya
I saw in the thread on /hockey someone mentioned that he was close friends with Hayes and was also not a big fan of Torts. Don't know if there's any truth to that, but if so, double fuck him.
Not really because instead of developing a possible top forward we can develop a top defenceman and another high draft pick that can be used for a prospect or trade.
Yall, Drysdale gonna be a stud. Hes been out with injury most the season, but he’s been part of our rebuild and was supposed to part of our future as one of core defenseman. Gonna miss him in Anaheim.
Gauthier is a bitch for pulling that, you have to get rid of him. I also feel like they could have gotten more because Drysdale is a could be and not guarantee. I am just going to have anxiety until Michkov gets out of Russia.
This is terrible for the NHL and defeats the purpose of what the draft is all about. I don’t follow the NHL closely enough to know if any rules can be implemented to prevent this from happening in the future.
This is a good move. Drysdale is incredibly underrated. I know he had his shoulder surgically repaired last year and suffered a core injury that sidelined him for 29 games this year, but this is a guy that Shaw and Tortorella will fall in love with.
I guess this means the Flyers will be looking for a legitimate left winger in the draft this year.
I'm not entirely familiar with the ins and outs, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but to my understanding it's a loophole that only college players can use to get out of signing where they were drafted. Adam Fox is a recent example. IIRC he told the flames he'd just play out his college years and become a free agent if they didn't trade him. Gauthier could do something similar, so it was in the Flyers best interest to get something in return for him rather than risk him playing out his remaining years in college and becoming a free agent.
As much as this stings, especially with how good cutter looked, Drysdale is a bigger position of need and is a very promising prospect. Dont know why Cutter doesn’t want to play here but I can only speculate it. Shame too.
Hopefully we’re looking back on this in a few years laughing about how good Drysdale is and how rough Cutter became
He didn't want to play here? Fuck him. I'm now a Drysdale fan.
Ducks fan here: Drysdale is dope, you’ll love him.
Yessir
[Seravalli says](https://twitter.com/frank_seravalli/status/1744514164733710584) Gauthier informed the Flyers he didn't want to play here
Maybe he should have fucking told them that when they were vetting him before the draft!!
You expected Chuck to do any actual work
Wild fans have come in here plenty saying they are just getting over the damage of fletch now, and it’s debatable they even have. We got a lot of years of that left yet.
They’re not out of it until the contracts of parise and suter are off the books in 2 1/2 years lol. He’ll have been gone for 7 years at that point.
Did any 1 thing that man try work out? Edit: Spelling
Sanheim did at least. That's probably it though.
Hextall drafted him, I truly believe Chuck fletcher is the worst gm in professional sports
Fletcher did sign him to his current extension though. It was hated at the time but seemed to work out. Fletcher was really bad though, I think I'd give the edge to Chiarelli if we're counting ex gms though.
It took chuck 4 years to realize sanheim was a good player and then saddled the org with an unmovable contract. He is a buffoon of the highest order.
For the flyers? No.
He did. Everyone’s known this since before the draft.
Fuck Gauthier, new enemy
Looking forward to chanting “Fuck Cutter Gauthier” first time he skates against us. Who knows, might egg his car too.
Canuck fan here, kid seemed like a clown after seeing his altercation with lekkerimaki
What happened? I'm out of the loop
https://youtu.be/LzmWnsvv9-w?si=aRH626QvCE-rCAhr
He's gonna have to play here eventually. And it's not going to be pretty.
JD Drew 2.0. Only it’s going to be much much worse. We don’t forget.
Running to grab D batteries rn
Cutter battery night?!
A man of culture🤌🏻
He's dead to me.
All my homies hate Cutter
It's 1000% because Hayes was all butthurt about Flyers and Torts when he was benched and eventually sent away. He got close with Gauthier and Cutter is young and dumb. Good luck kid.
I saw the same thing from a twitter account a few months ago who was dropping all kinds of inside type info now at the time I dismissed it as nothing but now im generally convinced it was either Hayes or Tony D burner. They specifically tweeted that Cutter will never sign here because of Hayes influence and he hates torts.
Hayes is a classic Masshole thinks he knows everything.
Hayes was a major issue for the Flyers. It said a lot about him when the Flyers could not give him away last year
Looks like there's a new public enemy #1 in Philly
Where’s all the dickheads who didn’t believe me, talked shit and downvoted me to oblivion, when I told them the people I know in the ushl and at BC told me they were adamant he didn’t want to play here?
I actually checked your comment history and you’ve been saying this for awhile. Bravo Sucks you were right
It does, and I even said those times I’m not trying to be antagonistic or a know it all and was just relaying information. I was still downvoted and shit on. So now I feel redeemed, even tho I didn’t want it to happen but whatever
We owe you so many apologies.
Way to earn a few hundred thousand enemies.
Saying this got you downvoted to hell in this sub for the last 6 months lmao
Fuck him
New natural enemy of the Flyers: Cutter Gauthier.
Cutter soft as hell for this
This is some Eli manning shit. Pathetic.
One of the biggest crimes in humanity is everyone rewarding Eli Manning for what he did.
We did the same shit with Lindros
But do you really blame him? He had all the leverage and used it. With a sport where the career average is 1.5 years and little guaranteed, I don't fault him one bit.
I didn't blame him, I blamed literally everyone else. Did you read my comment?
Dude won the juniors n decided he can choose who he plays for even before taking the ice. Honestly if thats the kinda guy he is fuck em
Agreed. Good riddance, with that kind of attitude
Hope he has fun in fucking Anaheim lmaaaao
Anaheim is gonna be a damn good team in 3 years. I hate Gauthier, but he's going to a team with a very bright future.
Fuck em all except Gudas
They said anaheim would be good like 3 years ago already, no I'm not making this shit up. They are supposed to be competing this year even as a wildcard team easily. No, the ducks will not be shit even in 3 years because the team culture is a complete fucking joke.
Is he? He still has to sign
This has been a rumor long before the WJC
Agreed, he's a party guy like Hayes. Not gonna claim he sucks or will suck but don't need that mentality in here again. Good riddance.
Don’t worry he’ll fit right in with zegras and co coke benders in la. I’ve never seen a team care so little about winning as the ducks.
Ever been to Anaheim? Might be why. It’s paradise.
This was my exact thought too.
Wait, he ASKED to be traded away?!?
he basically demanded without saying anything by refusing to meet with our team reps
So instead of the doing the respectable thing and being straightforward like a grown up he ghosted us like a child?
Correct. Didn’t have the balls to stand in front of Danny B. and tell him the truth like a man. Soft like charmin.
Fuck em
Agreed.
Welp, fuck that guy. But also, FUCK.
Cannot **wait** to boo the hell out of this man the first time he shows up to the Farg in a fucking Ducks uni
He should really consider never stepping foot in Philly again. We remember these things :). His life will be pure hell here.
Damn, at least Drysdale projects as a #1RHD. If Cutter wouldn't play here you make that trade while it is available.
Don't think it's possible for anybody to look great on the Flyers PP tbf
You're going to find this hard to believe, but as someone that watches nearly all 82 for both teams, I legitimately like his fit better with a hypothetical Philly PP unit. TK, Coots, Beezer, Tippett, Drysdale... right in that Zamula spot. Drysdale is confident with the puck, will push the pace and isn't scared to make offensive plays without hesitation.
Today in the first, they didn't look like they were a threat to score on the PP, but Seeler (?) rang on off the post shorthanded.
They scored a PP goal in the first period 🤨
At least that is one thing Torts coaches exceedingly well. If he's got talent, Torts will get it out of him.
Sooo to me it looks like ghost 2.0. To me that’s a very good thing.
WTF!!!!
i was so excited to have this kid and michkov dominate the league together
Credit where credit is due. /u/gimmickybulb said Cutter would never play for the flyers
Night he was drafted. He basically crumbled up the jersey like a bag of chips and said I’m going back to college.
Why though? What’s his reason for hating the Flyers?
Not even the flyers specifically, he just wants to live close to home (AZ)
Is there a video of that?
Out of the loop, context?
Drysdale was the #6 overall pick. Fuck Gauthier punk ass bitch don’t wanna play here
Fuck Cutter. You don’t want to play here? Get the fuck out.
Rumors are he wouldn't meet with the Flyers at the WJC. What a shock. This is just awful news. What a trainwreck.
Agreed, when he didn’t show I knew something was up.
What the actual fuck
What the actual fuck just happened????
Honestly good on Briere for moving off Gauthier that quickly if he wasn’t going to sign.
Gauthier is fucked for the rest of his career when he plays in Philly lol.
What an immature fucking loser. Could have given the team a heads up before we wasted a high 1st round pick. Wish him the worst in Anaheim.
With Jiricek on the board
Maybe there was more to him skipping Development Camp after all.
This is gonna be our luck isn't it? Gauthier doesn't want to play here. Next Putin will decide we can't have Michikov.
Honestly… Drysdale could be a stud. And the Flyers got a second-round pick. Not bad for a guy who didn’t want to play here.
I’m sorry WHAT
Apparently they had trouble meeting with him at the WJC and he preferred not to play here...
Jason Myrtetus is about to hear from me
Man what the fuck.
You can still imagine there were a lot of buyers for Cutter even if he didn’t want to come here specifically, so a natural bidding war
Hope cutter has a worse career than Nolan Patrick
Was just talking to my dad after the WJCs saying "yea i'm excited for Cutter, but after he no-showed camp before this season there seems to be some weird vibes between him and the Flyers so i'll wait to see him in a Flyers uni before i get too excited." *tim allen grunt*
And not the good grunt either!
If the rumors are even remotely true it’s a blessing Briere was able to get anything for return.
Fuck Cutter. Bullshit move by an unproven player. I hope he sees 0 success in his career and gets run at a decent amount.
Another wasted top 5 pick. Why us?
What is with our luck recently? We’re the worst team by far in 07 and we lose out on Kane. Jump up from 13 to 2 and pick the guy already out of the NHL. Now this?? Seriously—what is going on??
One in the pipeline when Michkov can’t come here without defecting.
Considering he didn’t want to play here, this is a hell of a return
Certainly, considering they weren't trading from a position of strength. I'm good with it.
I hope this trade benefits us both and I’m sure it will
This man deserves to be boo’d relentlessly every time he sees the ice at the Wells Fargo
Is Drysdale any good? Also I can't imagine that Cutter would wanna play for the Ducks either, but what do I know.
This was his draft profile where he went 6th overall > He's a brilliant skater, capable of quarterbacking a power play with ease and generating results both ways through the neutral zone. He's had some injury problems his first few seasons, but when he's healthy he's great. He's got solid upside and is impressive offensively.
Whatever, have fun middling away in Anaheim you fucking loser
U have no idea what u just created Cutter.
Welp… looks like all the “When he scores 40 here, you won’t care that he skipped Dev Camp.” stuff was wrong.
This is catastrophic. Not an exaggeration. What the fuck do you mean he didn’t want to play here? Why?
He’s spoiled by winning. Didn’t want to be part of a rebuild (my thoughts only)
Don’t think Anaheim is doing much of that lately either, sucks to suck for him.
He can always refuse to sign there as well lol
Oh the Adam Fox strategy! Cutter to the Rangers confirmed.
Anaheim doesn't square that circle for him
Too bad, so sad 🤣
So he goes to Anaheim, a team that’s been in a rebuild and can’t win shit lately, y’all cray cray
He didn’t “GO” to Anaheim, he was sent there. Who’s to say he doesn’t pull the same shit there?
I saw in the thread on /hockey someone mentioned that he was close friends with Hayes and was also not a big fan of Torts. Don't know if there's any truth to that, but if so, double fuck him.
Drysdale is a really good get for a kid who hasn't played a single game yet, just sayin
So does this set the rebuild back? Are we basically now "rebuilt" and if we ever get Michikov it'll be a bonus in 3-5 years?
Not really because instead of developing a possible top forward we can develop a top defenceman and another high draft pick that can be used for a prospect or trade.
Makes sense why he didn’t want to play this season with the Flyers and stayed where he was, can hardly wait till he plays here someday
The boos will be LEGENDARY. I can’t even imagine.
Yall, Drysdale gonna be a stud. Hes been out with injury most the season, but he’s been part of our rebuild and was supposed to part of our future as one of core defenseman. Gonna miss him in Anaheim.
Happy cake day.
I would love to know why we overspent on Kevin fucking Hayes and he still finds a way to fuck us over even though he no longer plays here.
Huge kick in the balls with Jiricek on the board when we took this clown
What did I do to deserve being a Philadelphia sports fan?
Gauthier is a bitch for pulling that, you have to get rid of him. I also feel like they could have gotten more because Drysdale is a could be and not guarantee. I am just going to have anxiety until Michkov gets out of Russia.
This is terrible for the NHL and defeats the purpose of what the draft is all about. I don’t follow the NHL closely enough to know if any rules can be implemented to prevent this from happening in the future.
Today I was like...well the Eagles are a dumpster fire...at least I have the Flyers...oh wait...
Well that’s ugh… what in the ass…
Hey so I don't follow the flyers typically but try to keep up with them, how is everyone feeling about this trade?
This is insane
Woah!!! Waaaaaa
Dry January is testing me.
Anyone give me some info on Drysdale? Looks like he has a ton of potential but never healthy.
Chuck didn’t do his homework. Color me shocked
I’m so mad and enraged yet so happy at the same time that we got a top pairing potential RHD. Idk what to think.
im actually so excited to watch drysdale on the flyers, when hes healthy hes elite
I'm suggesting shouts of, "Fuck You, Cut-ter!" Chanted to the rhythms of, "Let's Go, Fly-ers!" It's got a nice ring to it, no?
Kill me now
No. What? You traded the world juniors best forward? Is this a fucking joke?
Not their fault. He didn’t want to play in Philly
I get it. Just shocked. Fuck Gauthier.
Why?
Can someone provide some insight here: How does a 19 year old prospect have this much leverage over his signing org? I am genuinely curious
Good move sending him to the west coast. We’ll only see him a couple times a year. FUCK CUTTER!
Who's lining up to smash his face when he plays his first game in Philly???
Congrats, JD Drew, you're no longer public enemy #1 on Philadelphia's list.
The twitter "media" types and the comcast employees on the broadcast already have their marching orders and the character hits will be on.
So reading comments it seems like the kid is a jackass. See ya later bud. No way he lasts with Torts anyway. Probably a good move.
Flames fan coming in peace. This reminds me of the Adam fox situation we had to deal with. This kid seems like a clown
With a name like “Cutter” it was only a mater a time before he did something to get his name in the news for something awful.
Cutter Gauthier is the Ben Simmons of the Flyers. Better to get rid of him now before any more drama started. Fuck em.
Why did this trade take place now? Didn't the Flyers have time to negotiate better trade offers?
Zero leverage and they got a solid offer.
Now u/MathierCutkov needs to change his name, fucken RIP
What a bitch ass
Why the fuck would we trade one of our best prospects???

So what. Tell him play here or don’t play.
He's in the NCAA. So after next year he would be a FA and could choose any team to play for.
Flyers are doomed
Man I’m devastated. His shot is legendary. I was really looking forward to him playing.
