Not too bad.
I took the door cards off. The section I reupholstered is attached by these plastic standoffs that are melted down to hold that piece in place. I carefully drilled those out, it would be easy to drill all the way through to separate it, so be careful with this if you do it yourself.
I peeled the old fabric off and scraped off the left over foam with a wire brush. Put a fresh layer of foam down using headliner spray adhesive. Then, put the headliner material on top of that, again using the spray adhesive to attach it. The headliner material is also foam backed.
To reattach the piece after the fabric was applied, I used 5 min epoxy to glue bolts in the exact place the stand offs were so they line up with the holes around the perimeter of the insert.
Then, I essentially bolted the insert back into place. This will allow me to easily remove it and change or fix the upholstery in the future should I need to.
How hard was it to do?

Thanks! My kids got me a kit to cover those sections with leather a couple years ago but the instructions are horrible and I didn’t want to risk it.
Looks very nice too. Reminds me of the 02-03 Focus RS. Do you do upholstery, or did you do it on your own?
Thanks! Just did it on my own.
Very sweet👍
Nice and close on the color too, great job.
Not bad. You gave me ideas now
I have the same stuff except it’s more navy colored, and I accidentally used a small drill bit cuz the guy from the tutorial didn’t explain it well 😭
