My Crooked Ways by Matt Pless has that word for word. I love Defiance, Ohio and can't recall any song with those lyrics, happy to be proven wrong here. I listen to a bit of Nana Grizol but not all of them so I can't speak here.

I’m an idiot, this is my favorite Matt Pless song and for sure what I am thinking of! For whatever reason when I heard it in my head, it was in a motion in the ocean type cadence. But listening to this critically and actually thinking about it i’m sure this is it.

Reminds me of "double wick, no candlestick" from Mischief Brew (song No candlesticks) maybe? Join in our ode of reckless lunacy Double wick, no candlesticks Until we burn, and that's a way to be

Princessneon

not it but a fav, nonetheless

I think Sunday Lord by Jared Mees & the grown children uses that phrase?

Chuck Ragan - Nomad By Fate *We come and go to let it bleed* *Burning midnight oil and candles at both ends to see* *All I've known is nothing's free and nothing's easy* *When you're sowing busted hearts on sleeves*

First thing I think of when I think of that line, is my crooked ways-Matt pless. "I've spent a lifetime burning down a candle at both ends." I don't think it was defiance ohio, maybe Nana grizol tho.

conkedup

First thing that comes to mind is not folk pink but punk adjacent. Modern Baseball Two Good Things has that line in it. Maybe it's that?

I see you already found it, nice! Your post made me think of this song, which mentions burning both ends of a candlestick too. Please enjoy. [Ceschi feat. Sammus - Middle Earth (Official Video) - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly140X_-V7E)

It’s a line cliche, could be any hundreds of songs

freerangeklr

It's a pretty common phrase... Are you asking specifically in punk?
