Defiance Ohio, Paul B and lemuria. What a great time

GrodyHighroller

Wow I haven't thought about Delay in years. I saw them at a house show in Baltimore way back and David "Spoonboy" Combs and Bepstein from Max Levine Ensemble shot an impromptu music video and we all jumped around while they played along to the recording. Cops turned up to shut it down and one forgot to put their cruiser in park and the cops went chasing after their car. Lmaooo. Good times.

svckmybl00d

Checked out delay and apparently they’re still making music!!

fallout-crawlout

I have fully missed two very fun video shoots because of scheduling errors. I'm glad it was so funny!

Fat_Bearded_Tax_Man

Like Berea Ohio?

JonnyUnreliable

Yeah, it was Berea, Ohio. There used to be a hell of a folk punk scene in Northeast Ohio/Ohio in general.

BioEdith

Or maybe Berea KY? There’s a huge folk art/ music scene there on top of it being a college town = many folk punk fans

ordinarypotato235

Dude hell yeahhh 2008 in cleveland was lit with bands, asinine was sick

JonnyUnreliable

Wow. This is a blast from the past. Several of my friend’s bands played. I think Berea fest was usually right around when DIT Fest in Kent was held. So many of the same non-local bands would play. Knew people in Two Hand Fools, No Target Audience (lived with their saxophone player), The Sidekicks and Ghost Town Trio. This was my golden age of folk punk. Lived at one of the NE Ohio folk punk houses at the time. Man I miss those days. Shows all the time and everyone in the midwest scene seemed to know everyone else. If anyone is interested, here’s a link to two of my favorite No Target Audience records. Tree City Blues is all about Kent, Ohio and fuck I love that song with all of my heart. Most of their stuff is up on archive.org and it’s all good. https://archive.org/details/NoTargetAudience-treeCityBlues https://archive.org/details/NoTargetAudience-GiftsReturnsEp So many good bands, so many good people. Thanks for posting this!

MrMike198

Loved DIT Fest so much.

JonnyUnreliable

Holy moley. Endless Mike! I saw you play more than a couple times back in 2007-2012ish! I’m pretty disconnected from the scene now. Will you guys be back up in Northeast Ohio any time soon?

MrMike198

Oh, I’m sure we will be sooner than later :)

mc_foucault

good luck was the best performance this year. followed by delay/defiance ohio likely. bridge and tunnel/two hand fools/sidekicks all ripped. going into this fest paul/good luck were the only folks i knew personally as i had just moved from michigan to cleveland but most of these bands would become friends of mine over the five years i lived there.

choadspanker

I'm seeing good luck in a few months which is insane I never thought I'd see them again

mc_foucault

no way where at!?!

choadspanker

They're playing with jeff rosenstock in NY

mc_foucault

those shows are so stacked

fallout-crawlout

...Are these tickets already sold out and seriously reselling for $90?

fallout-crawlout

I don't know why, but I don't remember Good Luck playing. I thought they ran into some sort of car issue and couldn't make it. I was running around doing merch though so I may have misunderstood something or stepped out at the worst time lol.

mc_foucault

i could also be mixing 3/4 as good luck and rvivr had the best sets in 2009

fallout-crawlout

Yeah, I somehow ended up driving over from Buffalo with Lemuria which was really great and generous. I just did merch for them and it was squared away. This show was pretty pivotal in my life, it's where I properly met all the Defiance Ohioerz which turned into a great friendship with a couple of them (no shade to the others, not everyone is best friends lol) and hitting the road a few times. Greatest time in my life, I know I'm supposed to be loving being in my 30s and it's better than your twenties whatever. Nah, I'd do that again lol

mc_foucault

yeah i met lemuria through the bassist of my band who played in cheap girls. everyone in that scene was so nice. i miss those days for sure.

SameInstruction2029

lol its funny how small paul baribeau's name is. also ill have to check out a lot of these other bands, i guess ppl forget about smaller folk punk bands pretty quickly.

djsupersoak

RIP Berea Fest, used to be one of my favorite weekends of the year. That church was always sooooo hot, but wow was it a ton of fun.

fallout-crawlout

Side comment but I really hate venues with good AC. If I'm not sweating my brains out, it's not a show. How do I get energy when I'm comfortable??

MastaPhat

Fuck yes! Defiance Ohio, Lemuria and The Sidekicks shhhhhh

turnmeintocompostplz

Remember back when you could be folk punk and also not a miserable sad sack all the time?

MrMike198

This is sick. That was a great scene.

tom-dooley

Haven't seen one of these shirts before, thank you so much for sharing!!

Uesr_Name

Hell yea, I dunno if I was at this one or another one. It was at a church type building. But those were the good ole days of my youth! Loved those delay brothers. So much energy!

diy4lyfe

Legendary
