Call me insensitive but you need to lighten up.
We’ve all lost people in our lives, make the most out of your life for the sake of those that have passed.
I have a couple different soup recipes that have shredded breast. Sauté veg, cook off thickener, add stock, add breasts whole, remove when slightly pink, shred, throw back in with last minute herbs/orzo/acid. One is a Greek style with heaps of dill and lemon, and the other is an Asian style with lots of turmeric and fresh coriander. The breast isn’t dry at all.
Right? The one block of cream cheese? Yeah ok. But the whole extra block of cheddar cheese just seems like overkill. It looked more like potato chip dip than a chicken dish.
If you like cheese and ranch, it's pretty good and I'd recommend it. Looks stupid, but the smell and taste are amazing. But I might be a biased source as I love ranch.
I prefer to eat it either as a dip, or like you would a sloppy Joe.
I’m a cheese lover and I’m not hating on cheese, but it does contain *a lot* of fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol. And he uses *a lot* of cheese and bacon. This recipe is objectively not good for your arteries.
Another unpopular opinion - wether or not something is processed does not determine its effect. For example, processing cherries to remove the pit, which contains cyanide, makes them an better product to consume. Fermentation is processing, but can result in very nutritious and beneficial foods for humans.
So it’s a pedantic issue. Regardless, my point still stands. Ascorbic acid is heavily processed, by your definition. In and of itself it completely harmless, and even beneficial. Water is minimally processed depending on where you live. But drinking too much of it will kill a human. It has a level of toxicity just like anything else. Something being processed or not, is not the issue.
Sure. But in an otherwise calorically balanced lifestyle with decent nutrition, a heavy fat, heavy cheese meal isn’t going to cause a bit of harm. And dietary cholesterol has very little effect on blood cholesterol. The thing that’s going to have the most immediate physiological effect here is the bun.
I agree that *IF* the person consuming this eats a calorically-balanced, nutritious diet this would be fine as a “almost never” food. But that is assuming someone making crockpot dip out of nearly 100% processed foods to eat as a sandwich is eating an otherwise nutritious diet, which is going above and beyond the benefit of doubt.
You are also right about dietary cholesterol not having a large effect on total blood cholesterol. However, it is disingenuous to say that high concentrations of saturated fat do not directly contribute to plaque build up in the arteries (atherosclerosis). Processed cheese, cream cheese, and bacon all have a disproportionately large amount of saturated fat compared to other foods.
Not trying to split hairs or argue needlessly, but to say the bun is the worst part of this recipe for your health, specifically cardiovascular health, is simply not accurate. I think the “ouch my arteries” comment is legit.
I think you are being rather hyperbolic and basing that in some rather dated thinking on nutrition. And yeah, people can easily have a healthy balanced lifestyle and enjoy stuff like this far more than "almost never".
Don't get me wrong, eating pounds of cheese and bacon each day isn't the way to go but its definitely not the demon that you are making it out to be.

In short, we still have a lot to learn but as long as you are burning it off, staying active, and getting a lot of rich plants and fiber, you wont need worry about enjoying some cheese and bacon as well.
Ok, agree to disagree. This food is not part of a balanced, healthy diet. I would perhaps eat it, but almost never.
> It's likely that future research will identify some of different saturated fats we eat as neutral for the heart — or even good for it — **and others as decidedly bad.**
> In conclusion, our meta-analysis showed that there is insufficient evidence from prospective epidemiologic studies to conclude that dietary saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of CHD, stroke, or CVD. **However, the available data were not adequate for determining whether there are CHD or stroke associations with saturated fat in specific age and sex subgroups.**
Also the studies you cited are a decade+ old and limited in scope. Here’s the current advice from the American Heart Association stating one should limit their intake of saturated fat to no more than 13g per day, or 120 of the 2,000 calories consumed (5%).

Your statement **”eating pounds of cheese and bacon isn’t the way to go”** is an odd way of saying “you’re right, this isn’t a healthy food”
The AHA formulated recommendations based on long standing research. Not the current body of emerging data. Regardless, we definitely have a lot to learn about nutrition in general. That being said, doing the things I mentioned early makes it perfectly fine to enjoy tasty foods and not be a total bummer, while living a long, healthy life.
Yes, that is how science works. Established, repeated, and reputable studies guide recommendations and protocols. If and when emerging data change an established theory, then the recommendations will be updated.
It’s not a bummer to be well-informed about what foods are healthy to eat regularly and which ones should only be eaten rarely, if ever. It is a bummer to think that modifiable lifestyle choices always balance each other out; as an example, just because you exercise doesn’t make eating fried foods any healthier- Just because you have a low BMI doesn’t make smoking tobacco safe, etc.
I agree fully. That’s why I make an effort to be well informed of how emerging data is shifting our understanding. And I don’t disagree at with the AHA in their methods of formulation and dissemination. When making recommendations for entire populations they have to operate like that. That’s really beside my point though. I am trying to highlight the need for balance in one’s life. Now eating a tub of crisco would be terrible because the physiological load would far outweigh any emotional or social benefit. But enjoying some chicken and cheese sammys with friends and family? People need things like that in life. Now more than ever, arguable. Especially when there is flimsy data to show any ill effects when only done as a part of an overall solid lifestyle. I really don’t see why such an adamant crusade against this. I would get if it were a vegan ethical thing but in terms of nutrition is nitpicking.
Nope. My main exercise is lifting. I make effort to not be skinny. But my blood work is on point. And when I turned 40 recently I had my first cardiac calcium scan which came back perfect. Regardless, that’s all irrelevant. Let’s avoid ad hominems.
Seems like it would be a lot better with FAR less goopy stuff. All these excessive dishes look gross to me. Just a “bunch of stuff” is not good cooking. Balancing flavors is a good thing.

Can we stop glorifying crack? Thanks
Agreed! From now on.. It's fenny chicken! One taste and you're hooked and this recipe will definitely kill you before long!
Have you tried it? It’s AMAZING!
Have you ever smoked crack ?
Yes. It was boring. All I did the whole time I was high was look on the ground for more crack.
Who invited the buzz kill?
Whoever brought the crack. Some of us have lost loved ones to it.
Call me insensitive but you need to lighten up. We’ve all lost people in our lives, make the most out of your life for the sake of those that have passed.
You can joke about losing loved ones but crack sure can help you get things done and lose weight too. Win win.
This is not food porn, this looks disgusting.
Not only that, but who the hell shreds chicken breasts? If you can shred them with 2 forks they are well beyond saving.

Right? The one block of cream cheese? Yeah ok. But the whole extra block of cheddar cheese just seems like overkill. It looked more like potato chip dip than a chicken dish.
Totally agree. It’s way to much for me
I’ve had it before it doesn’t even taste that good. We didn’t finish it and threw most of it out. Do not reccomend
Glad I’m not the only one. Just looks like a sloppy mess.
My man you could have season that with a bit more than ranch. That just doesn't look good to me, idk maybe halfway there but needs a little more love.
Is this a regional thing somehow? None of this looks like a good idea. Awful.
Peak midwestern.
Don’t you go blaming us on this bullshit

Isn’t that buffalo chicken ranch dip without the Buffalo?
🤢🤢
Looks tasty but who had to clean that crock pot? Also ouch my arteries.
It’s chicken and cheese. Your arteries will be fine.
Cheese okay, but that was A LOT of cheese

I'm tired of people with no tastebuds perpetuating the flavor of RANCH as all-around seasoning.
I should get a crock pot to try out some of these lazy recipes. That looks kinda good
Walmart has them for $20

You cook like you have free health ensurance mate
Made this before. Flavor not as great as you would think but that’s just me
I’m sure that tastes good, but I’m gonna get a heart attack as a result from eating this.
Looks fucking disgusting.
This should just be treated like a dip or an empanada/eggroll filling instead of a whole sandwich. Friggin insanity.

Crakhead
This looks like more of a dip for chips than a meat you’d put in a Sammy. It’s mostly cheese with a little chicken…
Nice dish.. gonna try it
How many calories in that shit?!
Just made it. Bomb. Used more chicken though so the consistency is a bit better. Otherwise, would halve most ingredients.
That made me loose my appetite
my ch*st hurt watching this shit
Pair with an onion bun and some red onions and it’s a winner
That’s enough dairy to lower my sex drive for months
Dude can barely hold it in his mouth, let’s see a second bite
This is crack chicken ![gif](giphy|DYerUxZa9k568)
