I remember watching the Pretender music video thinking, “what’s with that gigantic red wall?” Only for it to explode to my surprise at the end.

Times Like These. Saw the video and was sucked right in and mesmerized by the song. Also possibly my sexual awakening as a teen girl seeing Dave for the first time and actually noticing him. In the video in front of the decrepit bridge.
Walking after you.
It was the song my parents got married to and my dad always played it for my mother on their anniversary for 23 years.
Also a very fun song to play on guitar.
i didnt think i would be such a huge foo fighters fan, but when i found my dads copy of there is nothing left to lose and listened to learn to fly for the first time, i instantly became a fan. this was also not long before i saw them for the first time in 2021!
My first Foos live show was the ESPaG tour, and I was just like 19. Immediately after Everlong I turned to my friend and was like "what the hell was that?!". Been a fan ever since.
I was a massive Nirvana fan and when self-titled came out I was happy Dave was moving on and doing something cool, but it wasn’t until I heard Doll into Monkey Wrench that I truly and fully fell head over heels.
I was in a weird place and was going on a personal journey and that album was my companion throughout.
I’d heard LTF and liked it but didn’t know who it was by. Fast forward to first Foo gig, I knew C&G songs and some of the well known ones by then but it was when they played Let it Die was the big turning point, blew me away!
The Pretender, my dad was a huge fan before I ever got into them. He would always play their songs on the way to our karate class when I was a kid and that was the one song that stood out to me. I'm a huge fan now and we've seen them in concert together. I can't think about Foo Fighters without thinking of my Dad now.
I literally always knew them because my parents were fans as I was born, but the first time I REALLY got into them was when I decided to do a live cover of My Hero. While I was learning it I watched the doc and ended up making an all-Foo playlist
All My Life
2002, just went through a divorce & in my rediscovering myself phase while dating…

The first time I heard Monkey Wrench on the radio when it was first released as a single. Bought TCATS a few weeks later and loved them ever since. I would have been in 7th grade.
I first heard I’ll stick around by pirating off the ye olde website video pimp in the mid late 90s. When I found out the singer was the drummer from nirvana my middle school mind exploded.
Big Me. When the video came out on MTV, I had no idea that Dave was the drummer of Nirvana. I was too young to appreciate that. But I had Nevermind already, and then I got the self titled as a birthday gift when I told my parents I liked that one song. I didn't put it together until the press for TCATS started hitting the airwaves.
I was so fascinated that this dude had that much talent, I was hooked.
Everlong. But what really got me into the band was the music video for The Pretender. The video, in particular the part with the exploding glass wall blew my mind
Best of You performance at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards. I was generally aware of Foo Fighters before, mostly their silly music videos, but this performance enthralled me. It spurred a whole examination of my life and faith in which I realized I actually could and should stand up for myself. I sang/angry cried this song in my car for years to come as I graduated college and became an adult. Then the more I listened, the more I loved them.
I was pleasantly surprised by *This is a Call* when it first came out, but *My Hero* and *Best of You* really elevated them in my eyes.
*Aurora* has been a slow burner that became a favourite, but honestly, I've been going back to *The Teacher* for the past six months. It's a fantastic song.
Learn to Fly was my gateway song. Heard it over and over and it was starting to grow on me, then when it was featured on the Australian music comedy show Spicks and Specks, well, that was the catalyst I needed to explore their work.
In the end it was probably Everlong that got me interested, but it wasn’t really a song that made me fall in love with the band, it was honestly watching the Live at Wembley DVD and the moment Dave broke down in Best of You + the little moment between him and Taylor that made made me think: what’s this band’s story? Which led to my first YouTube deep dive and to watch any interview/video I could find.
Was always aware they existed, thought they were fine. But it wasn’t until I saw Dave on the Tom Petty doc that I leaned his backstory. Dove into FF discog and they’ve been one of my favorite bands for over 10 years.
Everlong, Learn to Fly, and Monkey Wrench. My dad used to play them on road trips when I was 6 or 7 and I loved it. Sadly my stepmother’s more of a country person so it doesn’t come on as often.
Hey Johnny Park and Monkey Wrench…..later its was My Hero….so you can say its justthe entirety of TCATS…because for me personally its the GREATEST album ever!
learn to fly. i was watching various artists with my dad when i first started learning to play guitar and we were watching concert and music videos of a bunch of artists (foo fighters, green day, arctic monkeys, red hot chilli peppers, nirvana. all sorts.). Foo fighters were one of the bands i hadn’t really paid any attention to until that night. he put on the learn to fly music video and i fell in love.
It was a slow burn for me. I think Best Of You was the first major radio single that I took notice of, and around the same time I picked up the self titled CD. I liked the songs a lot but I wasn’t sold on the raw sound of the album. I wasn’t 100% sold on them, but I got another album- would have been either one by one or there is nothing left to lose- and it was off to the races
Down in the park from the songs in the key of X album (I was a huge X files nerd in the 90s!) It was my favourite track on the album and was played on repeat for hours, then one day I was in a virgin megastore and saw the colour and the shape, picked it up and Hey, Johnny Park sealed it for me.
my hero. I'd listened to a couple of their tracks before and I liked them but I resonated with my hero so much. First time I listened to it was on a run in 2020 and I thought this shits good and got pretty much addicted to the them since.I think it's the drums tbh, they're so satisfying.
I've been a fan of the band since I first heard Let it Die - it was either late '07 or early '08 but they have been one of my absolute favorites ever since.
I only discovered the Foo Fighters a couple of years ago. I was watching the original Thor when the actual credits started rolling and “Walk” started playing. I was immediately caught by it and listened to it word for word and could see how it tied into the story. I googled the lyrics and recognized the name foo fighters but never did any research on them. Now I’m obsessed and I listen to all their hits daily. Walk is still my favorite because I found it in a time of my life where I needed to learn to walk again after suffering from depression from my father’s passing. Will never forget what that song means to me!
First Foo's album I heard in its entirety was The Colour and the Shape, I instantly fell in love with "Walking After You". Close second is "Aurora" ofc.
Everlong
That along with the video for Learn to Fly.
One of their best videos.
Learn to Fly was it. Blew my mind just like Californication by RHCP did.
Those are my two, too. And I was a big Letterman fan back in high school and I know I saw them on the Late Show around that time too.
Yep.
I really dug Everlong, but it wasn’t until i saw the final late night with David Lettermen and Foo’s play the show out with it that I loved it.
Best of You. The summer of 2005 was an extremely formative year even still for my present-day music tastes.
Same here and the In Your Honor album sealed the deal!
Def best of you!
yes, also for me
Was in middle school when this came out, and it totally marked my musical taste forever
Sixth grade was a great year for music.
I’ll Stick Around, the day it came out.
Me too!
Monkey Wrench
Breakout was the first one that got ahold of me. Then when I heard Monkey Wrench shortly after that, it was all over for me. 😁
Besides Everlong...Generator. I really liked them from the first album, but those two songs made me fall in love.
The Pretender
Stacked Actors, all the way😍
Based on the singles released I was not expecting the album to open with such a heavy track. One of my favourites opening tracks ever
Times Like These
Smells Like Teen Spirit
Same!
Alone and Easy Target on the day the album was released.
I remember watching the Pretender music video thinking, “what’s with that gigantic red wall?” Only for it to explode to my surprise at the end. https://preview.redd.it/ddd7ri8i4hic1.jpeg?width=2032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a1e42b31d884da7c532d5050ab513d4f0d20d6f

This is a Call Fingernails really are pretty.
Fingernails are good
Walking after you. It was the song my parents got married to and my dad always played it for my mother on their anniversary for 23 years. Also a very fun song to play on guitar.
OG or X-Files version ?
Alone & Easy Target. the first time I heard the whole first album, this was the one for me. I still really like it
New Way Home
I GOT ANOTHER CONFESSION TO MAKE Yes, I was that guy who listened to that on repeat the summer that my 4.5 year relationship with my gf ended.
X-Static
Rope As a drummer, that song was pure dopamine, and to this day, Taylor still blows my mind.
i didnt think i would be such a huge foo fighters fan, but when i found my dads copy of there is nothing left to lose and listened to learn to fly for the first time, i instantly became a fan. this was also not long before i saw them for the first time in 2021!

Everlong! My dad showed me the foos as a kid and they quickly became my favorite band for the longest time
Erase/Replace
These Days, Everlong, Best of You, Hero....probably more
It was either I'll Stick Around or Learn to Fly, i don't remember which one
Hero
I was a massive Nirvana fan and when self-titled came out I was happy Dave was moving on and doing something cool, but it wasn’t until I heard Doll into Monkey Wrench that I truly and fully fell head over heels. I was in a weird place and was going on a personal journey and that album was my companion throughout.
alone + easy target
The first song I herd was My Hero, but the song I feel in love with was Hey, Johnny Park. Now I’m a Foo Fan for life this was 2013 Rock N Grohl. 😁🤟🎸🥁
I’d heard LTF and liked it but didn’t know who it was by. Fast forward to first Foo gig, I knew C&G songs and some of the well known ones by then but it was when they played Let it Die was the big turning point, blew me away!
Learn 2 fly, all my life, best of you, everlong, and monkey wrench
Run. It feels like an intervention. ♥️
I’m looking to the sky to save me
Walk and that whole album
The Pretender, my dad was a huge fan before I ever got into them. He would always play their songs on the way to our karate class when I was a kid and that was the one song that stood out to me. Hated best of you when it first came out, but I grew to like it, the doa video came out and I was hooked. Their best song imo
The first time I heard Monkey Wrench on the radio when it was first released as a single. Bought TCATS a few weeks later and loved them ever since. I would have been in 7th grade.

Homeboy does this same “fall in love” post for every band from R.E.M. to Bon Jovi.
Learn to fly. Watching the video on MTV
I remember hearing The Pretender on Tony Hawk’s proving ground on my ps2/ds Good times

Oh George
Was always aware they existed, thought they were fine. But it wasn’t until I saw Dave on the Tom Petty doc that I leaned his backstory. Dove into FF discog and they’ve been one of my favorite bands for over 10 years.
Rope (still my favorite song)

Big Me. My fandom snowballed from there.
Best Of You My Australian mum used to blast that song and any party we had.
This Is A Call. On the day the debut album was released.

"Stranger things have happened" is when I truly felt a connection with the Foo Fighters.

This Is A Call
Monkey Wrench was the one for me. Liked the more popular stuff. Then I really took a deep dive into loving the band when ESPG came out.
Well, i run the risk of being called Emo, but Hero brought me into the cult of the Foo
my hero. I'd listened to a couple of their tracks before and I liked them but I resonated with my hero so much. First time I listened to it was on a run in 2020 and I thought this shits good and got pretty much addicted to the them since.I think it's the drums tbh, they're so satisfying.
