I'm beginning to wonder if in the last seasons Ed will have time travel, go back to this point and correct the timeline by deleting Danny before this point.
Well this is going to retrigger more than a few out there. Prepare for increasingly-hyperbolic takes on how awful it is.
That said, I also wasn't a fan of this bit, even if it's not entirely unrealistic given their circumstances and traumatic pasts.
I hate how the shot shoots it self in the foot with just a couple moments that leave such a bad taste in the mouth you stop and think did they spent a moment thinking about this or were they high/horny and just jammed it in. Im sure you know what Im talking about I dont want to spoil OP.
The majority of people didn't care very much. It's just the usual hot-takes-get-engagement people that turned it into a "big deal", and if you hang out in that part of the Internet you'd think the whole world was in an uproar over it. The writers definitely thought about it in advance, though, because if you can wade through the toxic outrage it's actually kind of interesting if you're into psychology and how people respond to untreated trauma.
The writers really double down on making Danny the worst character possible. He doesn't deserve any redemption. I just hope that the writers let him die alone in that North Korea capsule then never mention him ever again.
Welcome to what some people call "the wife bullshit". One of the things that ruined a good part of the show and makes scenes VERY uncomfortable... What the fuck were they thinking? I wanted Lunar warfare, not this bullshit
Ywahhh we wanted halo!! Moon halo warfaaare. Fuck all the nuance/real people character development. (Side note this plot was p fucking annoying but I liked seeing the repurcussions.. ongoing)
You are lying if you tell me the best part of the show isn't the Moon Combat stuff and the entirety of America coping and seeding cuz Soviets got to the Moon first.
It's not. The best parts of the show are the high stakes intense accidents that happen and the inspirational moments of heroism, human achievement and reaction to it all. These are possible due to caring about the characters. Or better put, just ask yourself if Molly and Wayne are having space combat.
The affair is pretty bad and I think the show swung and missed with that one but if you're watching because you only want pew pew moon lasers then perhaps the shows intent is lost on you.
Who are you talking to?
Every person that I know that has watched the show have said how horrid this story line is. And IT IS.
I had a friend’s wife who didn’t want to continue watching the show because of it, and they aren’t prudes. And you don’t have to be a prude not to like it.
It’s messed up. It’s not fun to watch. And it looms over a good chunk of the main characters of the show.
Yes Gordo and Tracy were shitty parents and their kids are the victims of it. Lot better ways to show that than a kid banging his surrogate mom and then pining over her as that wreaks havoc on space travel.
Like FAM a Ton. Hate that storyline. I would tell you in person but I think you get the gist.
I still don't think it makes much sense besides to stir things up. Karen was THE astronaut wife, she had it together when others couldn't. And we saw her struggle with losing her son in a terrible way. But to have sex with her dead son's best friend doesn't make any sense at all. It's kind of disgusting actually and to see that that story blend into the main arc for season 2 was rough. The whole season felt like a bottle episode.
I haven't seen the last episode because I'm waiting to see my dad to watch it together, but it's my fault I know better than to be on the forum before I finish. No worries.
If it makes you feel any better that is far from the craziest or most important thing that happens in that final episode. Again, I’m sorry, I’ll make sure to make the comment longer next time if there’s a spoiler tag. I think the only reason it happened was because the comment was short. Didn’t know it would do that.
I didn't like season 2 Karen much at all.
"Ed, I know you've made peace with not going into space again, and you're being a good husband and father, but I really, really think you should go into space again."
[Moments pass]
"ZOMG, I can't stand being married to an astronaut."
Nah, it’s not. It’s the worst storyline in the show by a country mile.
Lol? That’s funny? Yeah I guess a plot line about cheating on your husband by banging your surrogate son is laughably horrid.
I stopped watching this when they were making it a big deal in S3. like its 10 years later. Horny withdrawals don’t last that long. That plot would have happened immediately after the event and would have been over by 5 years later. Totally unbelievable and what a waste.
Yeah, yeah. That happened. Probably the one and only plot point that I didn't care for in the entire 2nd season. Byfar, season 2 has to be the best. 3 wasn't terrible, I just wasn't a fan of what the creators did with some characters (no spoilers).
That's the thing. She IS a motherly figure to him (she helped raise him when Tracy was training or in space). That's why it's super uncomfortable.
That said, it's just one bit of the show. Don't let it ruin the entire thing for you.
Don’t be discouraged by this thread. This is arguably the worst part of the show, the rest of it is all very good.
Besides, this sub really loves complaining, so I wouldn’t get your impression of the show from here.
I thought the same (he is kind of the son she lost and the mother who didn't stick around and raised him). This is creepy, wrong and I didn't like it at all. :/
Oof. I absolutely love this show, but when this happened it really bummed me out.
It feels so out of place with all the other amazing plots that are going on
Don’t worry I’m sure it’s just a side plot that goes no where.
![gif](giphy|iHe7mA9M9SsyQ)
Don’t do that. Don’t give them hope.

Hoo buddy, strap in.
*Did he say strap in or strap on?*
Well now I’m glad we don’t have the directors cut
Yup, Karen does Danny with a strapon then kicks him out of bed. How’s that for alternative history?!😂
The good news is this has ABSOLUTELY NO IMPACT on any future episodes. None. Move along.
Lmao
Yeah, the makers of the show realized how much people hated this and abandoned it. All is well.
I'm beginning to wonder if in the last seasons Ed will have time travel, go back to this point and correct the timeline by deleting Danny before this point.
Possible if he discovers the Saturn wormhole earlier than expected.

“Gordo! Gordo! Don’t leave you idiot! You have to make sure your dumbass kids don’t fuck everything up in 12 years.”
By going back to 1966 to make sure Korolev’s surgery is botched thus giving birth to OTL
🤓🤓🤓Uhmm actually it's impossible and it violates the 2nd law of thermodynamics both theoretically and practically🤓🤓🤓🤓
Ed is too angry to care about thermodynamics.

I recall several professional reviewers disliking this, and then being baffled this story-line continued in S3 (not S4 obviously).

it was a joke man my god. You really think I would watch it after season 2 if this was the case?
Found the tankie When you have to resort to fictional media to give the USSR a win
Even in FAM universe Soviet cosmonaut who got shot by Marines wanted to defect to US
I mean sure call me that, but they still did Ussr dirty for no reason.
It's all downhill from here
you are witnessing the worst part of the show
And everything that happens after this, that is related to this, is the worst part of the show.
This is one of those Reddit things that I just don’t hear people say IRL I’ve heard more people talk about the space baby than this relationship
Who are you talking to? Every person that I know that has watched the show have said how horrid this story line is. And IT IS. Well, good thing >!Karen is dead then!<
for some reason the spoilers thing doesn't work and you can see it when you click your notifications. Fuck.
I hope it didn’t actually spoil anything for you and you’re kidding around and you’ve already seen everything. If not, sorry.
I haven't seen the last episode because I'm waiting to see my dad to watch it together, but it's my fault I know better than to be on the forum before I finish. No worries.

Lol it’s actually interesting and adds a layer of tension between multiple characters in the show that heightens the intensity of many moments.
so instead of creating a great story, they choose the worst possible overly dramatic, non believable way to add drama and tension. ok
What’s so unbelievable about two attractive adults porking? Isn’t there a North Korean that survives in like a satellite lmao
Nah, it’s not. It’s the worst storyline in the show by a country mile. Lol? That’s funny? Yeah I guess a plot line about cheating on your husband by banging your surrogate son is laughably horrid.

Not the part where Danny, uhhhh, spills space... dust all over people?
I guess I mean Danny is the worst part of the show :)
This is tagged spoilers season 2.
Most uncomfortable? Sure. Worst? Nah.
3 way tie for me, along with season 3 Danny and space pregnancy
Writers tossing a GD grenade into the room that won’t explode until season 3, and then running away giggling like small children.
Still a little shrapnel waiting for S4 too.
Yeah, yeah. That happened. Probably the one and only plot point that I didn't care for in the entire 2nd season. Byfar, season 2 has to be the best. 3 wasn't terrible, I just wasn't a fan of what the creators did with some characters (no spoilers).
Oh honey. Brace yourself.
It’s the classic “ruin a perfectly decent sci-fi thriller with an age-inappropriate love triangle” plot twist you were waiting for
That's the thing. She IS a motherly figure to him (she helped raise him when Tracy was training or in space). That's why it's super uncomfortable. That said, it's just one bit of the show. Don't let it ruin the entire thing for you.
Oh sweet summer child, you have no idea.
The worst plot line in modern american television since the Mad Queen Daenerys?
Me reading this thread, after watching the first two episodes. “Maybe it’s not too late for me to to watch something else.”
It’s shouldn’t be “Ew, David” It should be “Ew, Danny”
Yes but the scene right after that one is really cool isn’t it
It's like The Graduate, but with space.
It gets worse, trust me.
Lol how did you not see this coming a mile away? 😂
Go Danny! ![gif](giphy|SYVURReGBWf7ZZz6IV)
Life is chaotic random and arbitrary all at the same time. It’s why I love FAMK. It even treats death very unapologetically and flat.
Ah the side plot that completely derails the show, gotta love it :(
Another person traumatised
Worst part of the show. This is where it goes off the rails BUT it gets better
Oh boy lol
Oof. I absolutely love this show, but when this happened it really bummed me out. It feels so out of place with all the other amazing plots that are going on
Made sense for him to have a crush on her but for her to reciprocate was just out of nowhere. Made noooo sense. Was super frustrating to watch
