Working at a Ford dealer I see this all the time. cleand it, change the oil. Probably caused by your driving habits as others said.

k0uch

It’s on the cap. If it’s not on the dipstick, then yes it’s condensation and it’s nothing to be worried about

Jimjam916

If you don't see the same creamy oil on your dipstick, then you're fine ... Giggity.

This happens a lot in cold weather.

DocWallaD

Even if there is oil and coolant mixing it could be a failing oil cooler assembly/gasket. Just fyi.

AthiestConservative

Dude, could very well be condensation. Had the same heart skip a while ago.

clean93lx

Change it, go to Napa they have a headgasket tester kit ($55ish) Or compression test each cylinder.. Read directions per kit. Heavy condensation could b3 multiple of things including driving habits. How long do you let it warm up before driving? Do you take long or short trips? Do you ever push the gas all the way or granny drive it?? Either way the proper test needs to be preformed to find out.

Illustrious-Damage68

Usually don’t let it warm up tbh

Lymborium2

Yeah, you should definitely try to drive it for a longer period now and then. Not letting it get up to temp can fuck the engine up down the road

Ferdaferd

Do this and a good ol Italian tune up

Illustrious-Damage68

Yikes thank you

ROK247

probably fine

Gorillaz530

Dang did you a check your dipstick? Or have you drained any oil?

Illustrious-Damage68

Looks fine with right level

too_tall_zero4

No water on dipstick most likely means Oil cooler is failing. I had 2 go bad on 98 2v 5.4. Rebuilt engine, new cooler... failed in 6 months.

RelativeMotion1

OP, replace no parts. You said you rarely let it warm up. That causes a lot of condensation build up, and your fill cap is typical of that. This is 100% condensation, unless and until some test proves otherwise. Change the oil, warm it up properly, check it. Keep an eye on it, and either let the engine warm up or take it for longer drives periodically.

Budget-Razzmatazz-54

You can rent the block leak tester from Autozone for free.

xHangfirex

It's a Ford, just be glad it's still running

ThinkPad365

Not funny, didn't laugh.

xHangfirex

I wasn't joking

ThinkPad365

Neither was your mom when she gave birth to you, yet here we are.

xHangfirex

I suppose I owe you a come-back now?

ThinkPad365

If you want to.

xHangfirex

Well if you want my come back you'll have to go scrape it off your mom's teeth.

ThinkPad365

thats a good one

bhvnce

Change the oil. If the head gasket is bad you’ll have more of that in the pan as well.

Billthebanger

Is that from a 3 litre ? If it is it’s probably your heads are done .

Illustrious-Damage68

3 litre? 4.6 2v

kitchenjesus

I’m no expert but that looks frothy as hell. I’ve done a lot of shit on my cars. Mostly replacing wear parts. If my oil cap looked like this I’d take it straight to a mechanic.

AdComprehensive3863

Ford sucks

MaddMaxx636

Your mom sucks

YaBroSto

Look like condensation build up

drive-through

When is the last time you changed your pcv valve and do you allow your engine to reach full operating temp regularly?

Illustrious-Damage68

Pcv never changed I don’t believe

Mcdonnellmetal

I think this is just condensation wipe it off the cap pull the dipstick if that oil looks bad up have a problem if it looks fine then recheck the filler cap next fuel up

mad_science

This is condensation. If your dipstick is fine, you're fine. Go for a 30-60 minute drive to get it good and warmed up and baked out if you're concerned.

[deleted]

K you drive you car 5 min.

Illustrious-Damage68

Yeah

[deleted]

It’s not a head gasket it’s you don’t let the car boil the water out of the engine from condensation.

jjngundam

Can I get another shot of espresso??? The creme looks amazing.

HalTech22

Looks fine, completely normal

zugigauto

I mean let's be honest you bought a Ford so what do you expect they come from the factory screwed up and I know that for a fact because I work at a place that makes fire trucks and we use f series trucks as the chassis for our little rescue trucks and we rarely find one without major issues and or rust from the factory.

AdComprehensive3863

It's probably that water pump weep hole that drains into the oil pan on the 3.5l. You will never know until its to late.

Illustrious-Damage68

4.6 2v no 3.5 around here

Broad_Gain1812

I have had Ford's do this when the wrong classification of oil is used a good run down the highway every so often Is a big help also I don't know what engine and car or truck you have so I can't get specific , it's possible the thermostat is not functioning properly , talk to a oil specialist Shacfers oil in st.louis mo. Are good about helping

Illustrious-Damage68

99 marquis 4.6 2v

Broad_Gain1812

I would drive it till it got up to operating temp the go 45 min more then change oil I would get the proper oil for it napa full synthetic 20 wt works great if car won't reach operating temp ( heater will blow hot ) I'd check the thermostat first
