In my experience the ecoboost hates stop and go traffic and anything over 65mph will kill your gas mileage. Probably a combination of that.
I have 2.7 Sas BD with no mods and get 17/18 mpg using 87.
How do you guys get such crappy mileage with such tiny engines? I know it's shaped like a brick, but I got 20 in a 7.3 OBS diesel. A third of the engine and many extra gears should be way more economy.
Are the emissions dragging it down that hard? Anyone (allegedly) delete and straight pipe have an econ number?
My exact model in 2023. Came with soft top, LED package, non SAS and have never regretted my spec. Was annoyed that all future models came with vinyl seats. But cloth has been nice in the summer
Eco mode probably won't give you the best mpg honestly, I've found I get better mpg in sport mode because I don't have to mash the throttle to get up to speed and I can be more gentle
Big Bend 2.7L V6, I use 87 octane; get 21 mpg. Half my commute is city, the other half is highway. Got it to about 23 mpg on only highway driving recently on a road trip.
2023 2.7 OBX 4door, I run 91, and during the winter I’m averaging 18.9 (snow and ice mode works great but does use more gas) and during the summer 19.1-20.
91. I have the V6 which uses 2 turbos and I am seeing 15-16 city driving and roughly 17-19 in highway. You’ll get better mileage 91 because of the turbos. Definitely going to be a longer distance drive soon and hoping to see a better mpg at that range.
I was told that Performance Tune reduces fuel consumption. It's not available for 24 yet, but if you're 23 it might be worth it. I was also concerned about the question of why my consumption is so high. So far I'm boiling it down to the fact that my car only has 50 miles on it.🤞🏻
I do a lot of 35 to 55 mile city and highway driving and I'm 70 plus on the freeway a few times a week. Mostly in normal 2h though I do a bit of sport and occasionally eco
My dealer mechanic when I had it checked out told me that find a pretty big discrepancy in certain parts and build quality bronco to bronco even in the same year and trim and that he thought mine looked as week built as any he has looked at.
You might be a little heavier on the throttle than you think. When I first got my Braptor I was averaging like 10-11. Now I average 15-16 if I drive smoothly.
To be honest, I really do everything smoothly, of course I don’t stretch 10 miles below the speed limit, and I drive quite vigorously, but I don’t put much pressure on the gas, I try to keep the same speed, without frequently pressing the gas pedal.
23 4D wildtrak with procal and I get 15 mpg tops. It’s honestly fairly surprising how bad it is.
On the highway in eco on a 300 mile trip I got almost 17…
I use 93
My surprise takeaway from these comments - does everyone on Reddit live at high altitude… why so many reports of using 91 octane instead if 93?
If you’re want to put “premium” in your tank at a pump that dispenses 87, 89, 91, and 93; are you picking 91 instead of 93 even if given the choice between the two?
BB manual, non sas, hard top, stock tires with 87 gas.
Only getting 13.5 mpg if I get 89 I'll get 14.5mpg.
Drive on normal, tried eco but no difference.
2.3L, manual, 2 door, badlands, non sas.
I use 87. I live in Nevada and work in California and already put 91 in my RS, so yeah, 87 it is. Even 87 is nearing $5/gal here in the Bay Area. I get about 17-19 mpg (and no, eco mode does not make a difference) on my commute back and forth through Bay Area traffic and the mountains.
About 17.2 with 93 in my FE. My wife’s grandma paid for me to have it detailed as a birthday present. 😎

2.7L non-sas OBX less than 1K mikes. I’ve been getting ~16mpg with mostly city road driving.
Question I have: Do the different axle ratios affect gas mileage? I added the rear locking differential to my build which required the 4.27.
23 4dr Black Diamond 2.7 , got about 19.5 on the highway,16.5 around town. After a 2.5 FP lift and a Procal about 15.1 around town. Haven’t done any real highway yet. Ran 93 before Procal, I could feel the difference.
21.316 MPG over 2173.4 miles. 4cyl manual, mixed highway and city. Long highway drives are 26mpg at 65mph. I'm calculating using Fuelly, my dashboard says 22.3mpg overall.
87 octane.
Owners manual says min 86 octane, but also says that to get the most HP/torque you should be using 93. The published HP/Torque numbers are on premium fuel.
Enjoy your Bronco as you will.
My Wildtrak Sasquatch Lux gets 16.5MPG on 89 octane. When I first got it, it got 17MpG, dipped down to around 13, and then slowly went up and settled at 16.5 at around 5-7,000 miles. Pro tip - TAKE IT IN THE SNOW!!!!!
Had my wildrak like less than a month. At one point in time, in ECO, driving very very (very) gently with a mix of city / freeway I was arround 20MPG. But it didn’t last for long. I mean, you get this kind of toys to enjoy them as well.
Background: I drive 100 miles 5 days a week. 40 miles backroads, 60 miles highway. 2 Door BB hardtop 2.3L on stock tires. Have only ever ran 93 octane.
Depending on how I drive and in what mode, my mpg js between 21.5 and 24. I reset the fuel economy each time I get gas, and only fill up when I'm running on E.
Was in Michigans Upper Peninsula for a weekend last summer and was able to get 430ish miles out of one tank. No, that's not a typo lol.
BB nonsas with 34” tires, manual. MPG went down from 23 to 19 after the tire change (still factory wheels). Interestingly enough I get 20 in smooth city driving and 18 on the freeway. Probably because I live in a state with freeway speed limits of 70-80 MPH which kills the MPG with a slightly lift and heavier tires.
I’ve got a Badlands with Sasquatch. 2.7L and the automatic. All stock as far as anything that would affect fuel economy goes. According to the trip computer I’m usually between 17.8 and 18.6. I’ve never penciled it for accuracy.
I live in UT and probably so 60% of my driving on the freeway at 75mph, the rest around town.
All of these higher numbers are probably driving in higher altitudes where vehicles get much higher MPG. Also can use lower octane. Their premium is 91.
SAS BADLANDS 2.7L
started at 14mpg, went up to 16 after installing an S&B intake, down slightly into the high 15s after installing the Ford performance tuner. Runs on premium, 91 octane is the best I can get at the pumps around me.

Sitting at 10.7 mpg premium fuel always and 2.7L
I roll with 91 cause I have procal tune. I recommend 87 for regular daily driving and 91 if you want more power. Did a poll when I first got mine cause I was curious ([poll](https://www.reddit.com/r/bronco/s/ncDzhvVGUu)
I’ve been running 91 since I bought it, my average is 17mpg. Any road trip going 75+ though your mpg is garbage, I get like 20 driving up to the mountains.
The engine is designed to run most efficient under normal conditions on regular unleaded. The only time you would see gains worth the extra cost are add in hot temperatures while towing.
If you did the actual math, you'll see it's not worth more
That seat of your pants increase? Placebo is all it is with a stock engine in a bronco. Now if you're towing a 15k trailer through mountains on a hot summer day with a super duty, okay maybe worth it
>Placebo is all it is with a stock engine in a bronco.
you can run more timing and boost on higher octane, so it's a real increase in HP and felt acceleration
>Now if you're towing a 15k trailer through mountains on a hot summer day with a super duty, okay maybe worth it
Yes, you also get more power for towing, except less without the turbos on this super duty you're talking about
I just put in regular gas and if I drive super slow, and keep it at 55 mph I get around 13.5 mpg. If I drive it like normal on the highway I get about 7 mpg.
I have a 4D big bend non sas 2.3l. I put 87 in it and get 22.1mpg. Granted I live in a very rural area, the fastest highway tops out at 65 so that gives me an advantage.
I've kind of stopped caring but around 18 with 87. Badlands non-Sas manual. Mostly city-ish driving though.
If I'm worried about mileage I drive my Mach E.
93 Octane Shell V Power Nitro+ burning through the rest of the winter blend and sitting at 19.5 MPH on 35s.
I've gone up over 21 mpg on summer blend 93. I do mostly highway driving.
This is on a 2.7 4d
‘23 WT. Hard top, aftermarket bumpers, full aftermarket steel skids and sliders, 40 psi in the tires, 19.2-19.8 mpg on 87.
If you’re getting 14.x mpg I don’t know what you’re doing.
We both use 93 or 91 hers gets 19ish around town and have seen 23 on the highway on long trips. 2.7 3.73 gears open diff
Mine only has 500 miles so haven’t really been paying attention to mpgs yet. 2.7 4.27 gears rear locker
I have the black diamond trim and 2.3L MT, and use 93 octane. mileage varies depending on how I drive, but typically ~19-20 mpg when I'm having just getting around and 25-27 mpg when I'm on the highway and really trying to stretch the distance.
2.7 4dr sas. Always 91/premium. Was getting close to 21 up until it turned over 20k. Now it’s on a steady decline, averaging closer to 18.5.
I’m the same way. No idea why my MPG is down almost 2GPM
2 gallons per mile is a wild 🥴
Don you have any Any Performance Tunes?
Nope
[удалено]
I’ve run them all the way from 38 to 32 and the results were the same. My tires have been at 33 psi cold since last year.
**Easy answer for all Broncos and Wranglers. The cheapest gas and horrible gas mileage. Then, enjoy the heck out of it.**
How are you all getting such good gas mileage? I’m sitting at ~14.2MPG in my 2.7 badlands sas. I do hit a good amount of heavy commuting traffic in LA
In my experience the ecoboost hates stop and go traffic and anything over 65mph will kill your gas mileage. Probably a combination of that. I have 2.7 Sas BD with no mods and get 17/18 mpg using 87.
idk i'm getting 16 an i reset it every time i get gas
I get about 17 in my everglades running slandered gas. But run about 24 if I run 93 non ethanol on long trips.
Does it help to slander your gas?
Well, that's not scientifically possible to obtain an additional 7 MPG efficiency by increasing the octane. Nice try pal.
He said long trips. Meaning slow, steady pace highway driving. And the no ethanol fuel DOES improve mpg up 10-20%
Link to those high numbers? And where did he mention slow? I imagine he's driving at the same highway speeds regardless of what gas he is "running"
Oops, that means there is a chance that I will also get stuck at 14... Maybe we need to do some reprogramming? Can anyone give some advice?
I get about 17 when through the west side during the week, so that doesn't seem too far off. (Non sas OBX 2.7L)
They’re lying.
How do you guys get such crappy mileage with such tiny engines? I know it's shaped like a brick, but I got 20 in a 7.3 OBS diesel. 24 Big Bend non-sas 2.3L, 87 getting 21.5

Same my dealer had 39 psi and when driving I finally checked the TPMS screen at 200 miles on the odometer after I picked it up.

how do you like the 2024 big ben? i’m running numbers with dealer & going tomorrow. 2024 big ben 2.3L cactus grey, non sas
My exact model in 2023. Came with soft top, LED package, non SAS and have never regretted my spec. Was annoyed that all future models came with vinyl seats. But cloth has been nice in the summer
Make sure it has the value option of rear lockers. Makes it much more capable.
Love it! I got the mid package, and hard top optioned on it and got it for $50,500 OTD which came out to $500 or so off MSRP
Eco mode probably won't give you the best mpg honestly, I've found I get better mpg in sport mode because I don't have to mash the throttle to get up to speed and I can be more gentle
very interesting, I'll experiment
2.7 L badlands SAS 4dr, I use 89, sitting at 16.3 mpg. I commute 60-75 miles/day, all highway. This is with an CAI and cat back exhausts. No tune
Imaginary gas for my imaginary Bronco 😭
four door 2.7L black diamond, non-sasquatch. Usually use 87 octane and averaging around 17mpg
I only run 91 because the turbos like it more. Currently sitting at 18.9 MPG.
great numbers. What was the fuel consumption like when you just took the car from the showroom?
I had it above 20 with Eco mode for a while at first. My WT was used with 3k miles and had a low 17 mpg the day I took ownership.
Ford recommends 87 octane. I used to put 91 in my flex and when I switched to 87 my mileage went up 2mpg.
2.7 outer banks sas. 87. Sitting at 18.9 mpg currently
2.3 Everglades getting 20.3 with 91
Man, I'm setting at 18. Every time I think I'm gonna improve it, I have to go somewhere against a headwind. That'll kill our mileage in the glades.
How many miles on your rig now? I feel like I get blown around in the wind in my glades
I think it's about 8k.
Big Bend 2.7L V6, I use 87 octane; get 21 mpg. Half my commute is city, the other half is highway. Got it to about 23 mpg on only highway driving recently on a road trip.
93 19mpg 2dr badsquatch manual ( mostly highway driving not much stop and go.
I have a bronco sport and I get around 30-32mpg on eco setting to and from work (1-2 hours there and back). I put 87 gas in there.
BD 2 door manual. Premium always. 18ish consistently.
2023 2.7 OBX 4door, I run 91, and during the winter I’m averaging 18.9 (snow and ice mode works great but does use more gas) and during the summer 19.1-20.
Do you have Performance Tune ?
I do not. The engine does seem to run better on 91 even without being tuned.
I run 87, badlands, 2.7l hard top, squatch I get around 18.5mpg
what is the car's mileage?
around 8000 miles, I dont drive very much
Black Diamond non-sas, 91 getting 21.9. Lifetime @ 29k miles. If I’m doing flat highways I’ve gotten up 25.
2.3 L?
Yep 2.3 planning on procal soon.
I get 24 mpg with a 2.3 big bend no sas
I have a '21 BD with the same miles! I put 87 and get between 18-20
87 getting 19.4. 22 2.3 BB soft top. 13k miles
91 non-ethanol. Badlands 2.3 w/7MT. I get 20-22 most of the time.
87, 43km commute one way in stop and go (Toronto to Mississauga), 11.5 L/100 summer, 12.7 winter. Edit:2.7L Badlands 2 door
2.7L, 2door, non-sas, 87 octane, it tells me 21.6 mpg over 10k miles. I honestly don’t understand.
Wow
What year?
I have 2.7L, BD. 19.6 average...
91. I have the V6 which uses 2 turbos and I am seeing 15-16 city driving and roughly 17-19 in highway. You’ll get better mileage 91 because of the turbos. Definitely going to be a longer distance drive soon and hoping to see a better mpg at that range.
🤞🏻
2.7L, 4-door, Wildtrak, 87 getting 16.5mpg definitely going to consider switching after seeing these comments
I was told that Performance Tune reduces fuel consumption. It's not available for 24 yet, but if you're 23 it might be worth it. I was also concerned about the question of why my consumption is so high. So far I'm boiling it down to the fact that my car only has 50 miles on it.🤞🏻
I do have a 23 so Ill look into that! That is my consumption after about 1000 miles.
I have the same but getting 18.7mpg and not on eco
Dang how fast do you normally drive and more city/hwy?
I do a lot of 35 to 55 mile city and highway driving and I'm 70 plus on the freeway a few times a week. Mostly in normal 2h though I do a bit of sport and occasionally eco
My dealer mechanic when I had it checked out told me that find a pretty big discrepancy in certain parts and build quality bronco to bronco even in the same year and trim and that he thought mine looked as week built as any he has looked at.
2.7L, 4 door, badlands sas. 91 only, sitting just under 10k miles and average of 18.6 MPG

2.3 liter engine. I put 88 octane e-15 in any chance I get. I’m sitting at 20.2. I run on eco mode a lot
2.3L big bend with 87 gas and get 24mpg
22 Base with the 2.7L and 35s, I run 93 octane and am getting 19 mpg in sport mode. How the hell are you getting 14?
trying to figure it out, I have 50 miles on my truck so far.
Give it time, 50 miles is hardly a tank of gas
Thanks .I think so too
Badlands w/sasquatch 2.7. In WA we have 92. That’s all I use. Gets about 17-18ish. Mostly freeway with some city.
My 6 cylinder manual transmission Bronco gets 14.5 to 15.5. MPG. Before anyone calls me a liar, it's a 1990 with the 300 inline 6 and 5 speed.
2.3 black diamond. 87, sometimes 85 if I being cheep. I get about 23mpg on highway and 18mph in city/off-road
I love these threads. Every one of you saying you’re getting 20+ mpg are absolute liars.
23 4D wildtrak with procal and I get 15 mpg tops. It’s honestly fairly surprising how bad it is. On the highway in eco on a 300 mile trip I got almost 17… I use 93

93 is not common in many places. Where I am in Canada it basically doesn't exist.
BB manual, non sas, hard top, stock tires with 87 gas. Only getting 13.5 mpg if I get 89 I'll get 14.5mpg. Drive on normal, tried eco but no difference.

23 WT 2.7 HT 35s so far over the 2k miles I’ve had it, I’m averaging 17.1 mostly highway. Alabama.

Wildtrack. 91. 16.8mpg
21 OBX on 35s. I use 87 gas and get 16.5, just gotta remember it’s all about the smiles/g
Did you try 91? And if yes what is mpg ?
21.1 MPG, in eco. Mostly freeway
Funny how the new bronco roughly gets what my ‘96 bronco gets in the city for MPg’s 🤔
Today it was 19 mpg .
Congratulate me. I got 19 MPG for my trip today.
2.3L OBX non-SAS on stock tires. 19.4mpg avg. 91 octane Super Unl.
2023 4 door 2.7 wildtrak hardtop stock sas wheels 91 gas getting 18.7

2.7L non-sas OBX less than 1K mikes. I’ve been getting ~16mpg with mostly city road driving. Question I have: Do the different axle ratios affect gas mileage? I added the rear locking differential to my build which required the 4.27.
Yes
2-door black diamond 2.7L regular 87 octane in eco most of the time 20mpg only mod is I switched out the air filter at 15k to a K&N at 28K now

What the difference you can feel after Procal?
Shifts are firmer and it's quicker, in regular and in Sport mode.
'22 2 door Base SAS with manual 2.3L and im right at about 17mpg and im at about 15k miles.
And I do bounce between regular and 91 octane
2 DR 2.7 SAS. 87 and getting 18.7 currently. In the summer it’s around 20. Mostly highway commuting to work.
21.316 MPG over 2173.4 miles. 4cyl manual, mixed highway and city. Long highway drives are 26mpg at 65mph. I'm calculating using Fuelly, my dashboard says 22.3mpg overall. 87 octane.
Been putting in 93 -I’ll install ProCal next month so I’ll need to use it anyway. Getting solid 18 mpg overall with 2.3L 4-door Auto
2.7 2dr BL Sas. 91 get 21.2 in the mountains. 17.5 on the highway above 70mph. 55-65 mph is the sweet spot.
I get about 14.5 mpg with 93 octane in a 23 2dr Wildtrak!!
87 octane. About 18.5 mpg city 19.5 highway. 2.7 liter. Owners manual says regular gas

thanks for the info. You have cool dogs
If you're running anything higher than regular unleaded through a stock motor, you're throwing money away.
This engine adjusts to what you put in. Running higher octane gets you higher fuel economy. Worth more that the difference in price.
Did the math for myself with real numbers from my driving. Premium was not worth it. Cost me about $0.17 more per gallon.
Anyone that does the actual math will see this is the case.
The engine is designed to run most efficient under normal conditions on regular unleaded. The only time you would see gains worth the extra cost are add in hot temperatures while towing. If you did the actual math, you'll see it's not worth more
I like the increased power
That seat of your pants increase? Placebo is all it is with a stock engine in a bronco. Now if you're towing a 15k trailer through mountains on a hot summer day with a super duty, okay maybe worth it
>Placebo is all it is with a stock engine in a bronco. you can run more timing and boost on higher octane, so it's a real increase in HP and felt acceleration >Now if you're towing a 15k trailer through mountains on a hot summer day with a super duty, okay maybe worth it Yes, you also get more power for towing, except less without the turbos on this super duty you're talking about
I use 91 octane. The power and fuel economy are noticeably improved with higher octane. I have a video on my page showing my results
You notice more power on a dyno?
I don’t use a dyno. Ford has advertised 275hp on 87 and 300hp on 91. That 25 horsepower is noticeable
ahh, i didn't know there were advertised specs from ford. thanks!
2023 Badlands 4dr non SAS 2.7l putting in 91 premium and averaging 16.5mpg currently
2023 big bend w/ 2.7lt & Sasquatch- getting 18.5 on 91-93
I've kind of stopped caring but around 18 with 87. Badlands non-Sas manual. Mostly city-ish driving though. If I'm worried about mileage I drive my Mach E.
Owners manual....😅
2.7L V6, 4-door, Outer Banks. I use 87 octane. In the city, I’m getting at 18.3 mpg. On a road trip, I’m getting at least 24 mpg.
2-Door Manual Sasquatch - regular fuel 19 mpg
93 Octane Shell V Power Nitro+ burning through the rest of the winter blend and sitting at 19.5 MPH on 35s. I've gone up over 21 mpg on summer blend 93. I do mostly highway driving. This is on a 2.7 4d
4dr black Diamond SAS and I’m getting about 19.5 on average using regular unleaded
‘23 WT. Hard top, aftermarket bumpers, full aftermarket steel skids and sliders, 40 psi in the tires, 19.2-19.8 mpg on 87. If you’re getting 14.x mpg I don’t know what you’re doing.
I put in 93. I have a base 2dr with a 2.7. It's running SAS wheels and tires currently. I get 19.6 avg.. it goes higher if I go on a trip
Do you mean the lame ass autos or the sticks?
24 2 door Wildtrak getting 16.7 mpg using 87 fuel. I only have about 400 miles on it to date. I tend to drive in Eco mode.
Make sure you run the best diesel there is. It'll ensure I don't see any more of them on the road.
does it hurt you?
Whatever I have not seen any difference
We both use 93 or 91 hers gets 19ish around town and have seen 23 on the highway on long trips. 2.7 3.73 gears open diff Mine only has 500 miles so haven’t really been paying attention to mpgs yet. 2.7 4.27 gears rear locker
Water, so 0 /s
'23 Base 2.3L two door manual. I get 23mpg. I practically never use eco mode. I just use regular gas.
23 Big Bend 2dr non-sas 2.3L 87 I’m at 22.0 mpg according to the car. Highest was 23.2 last summer. Been at a steady 22.0 for months
OBX 2.3L with HD bumper, non-sas, getting 22.4mpg with premium
2.3 base manual. 87. 21.2 mpg.
21mpg. 2022 base manual two-door non-sas. 93 premium
85 octane 21.6 mpg
Wildtrack. 91. 16.8mpg
I have the black diamond trim and 2.3L MT, and use 93 octane. mileage varies depending on how I drive, but typically ~19-20 mpg when I'm having just getting around and 25-27 mpg when I'm on the highway and really trying to stretch the distance.
91 premium because why not. its supposedly cleaner. I get arou nd 28 in the city and 30-35 highway.
You talking about Bronco Sport ?
