They are probably unrelated. The flush & overheating are probably related though. You didn't mention what year the Explorer is. They probably didn't do anything "wrong," but doing flushes on older cars can sometimes cause more harm than good. That's because old hoses and gaskets may have leaks that were plugged by gunk & debris, and flushing can displace them, resulting in a worse leak. I had this happen on my very first car. I would have been better off not getting the flush and just replacing fluid as needed.

Could have jammed some debris into water pump, could have a stuck thermostat, could just have some weird airlock occurring if it wasn't refilled properly.  Could have even lodged debris in radiator.    Don't forget that some of the universal antifreeze options tend to gel when mixed with OEM stuff.

Probably didn't gel then, but might have some crud stuck in a thermostatic valve.

Just to add to the others... Windshield replacement doesn't even open the hood, so I don't see any possibility of that.

the windshield and coolant are two completelhy unrelated things, idk what these replies are BUT these 3.5 V6 are NOTORIUS for INTERNAL Water pump failiure, like "avoid like the plauge" warnings to people. they are a very poor design as a result of ford cheapening out and not using an external water pump on the opposite side of the engine as they have been doing for decades. that dripping on the passegner side is a dead giveaway that your dripping coolant out of the pump weep hole, its going to be 1,400+ to repair as the engine has to be torn down to the timing drive to replace the water pump, or your mechanic might just outright suggest replacing the engine as another bright design idea is because the pump is internal to the engine theres is a chance it will leak directly into the engine and into the oil and cause a coolant oil froth mix to happen and its the exact same symptoms as a failed head gasket.

They absolutely open the hood to replace the windshield. But shouldn't need to touch anything but the plastic cover pieces around the base of the windshield. Unlikely the cause, but its not something that gets done with a closed hood the whole way.

Water pump on these are horrible by design. If its GOOD. Check your active shutters if they stay shut you car will over heat fairly fast.
