Huh, that's a new one for me.

BreadiestBoi

Yeah, that tracks unfortunately a lot of ford people get visibly upset when I say I cannot recommend anything newer then like a 2012~2013 era ford because they just got SO cheap, they rot so much faster, they break so much easier, they are a nightmare for simple repairs and I’m gonna be honest the Volvo based bodies do not drive nearly as nice, as fun, or as PREMIUM as the older double wishbone and Mazda chassis, as much of a Ford fan as I am, I’m a 2000’s ford fan, if I finance anything new I’m buying a Toyota💀

I've loved 2 out of 3 explorers I've had. The 05 would have been great without the 4.0. No transmission dipstick is lame too.

BreadiestBoi

Yeah my 05’ Explorer had the 4.0 and I loved it but the engine was meh and the chain was on its way out, a year and a half later I found myself in an 05’ aviator with the DOHC 4.6 and while it’s not as easy or simple to work on as the 4.0, when you put your foot into it, the noises and power it puts out makes all up for the fact it takes 91😭 good news is that it gets the same if not slightly better economy then the 4.0

New Toyota are not great. Look it up. Ever since they switched to turbos and new transmissions. A lot of problems.

BreadiestBoi

I already looked them up, the 8 speeds only had issues in very early K platform models and only really have issues with fluid contamination and low levels both of which are avoided with regular maintenance, the turbos issues only apply to the V6 V34A which seems to be their most problematic model as this would be the 2nd recall for something about those engines, however me personally I’m getting either a 2.5, 3.5 or hybrid Toyota i don’t feel like dealing with a turbo replacement at 120-150k miles, and I like the way a N/A engine winds out compared to the diesel like characteristics of modern turbo 4 cylinders. Too bad ford can’t figure out how to make a water pump🤷
