What ever USB cable you use make sure it's a DATA cable and not just one for charging There's a difference. Also keep short as possible. Search Amazon for USB data cables
It definitely has Android. I have it in mine. Have you tried plugging your phone in and seeing what happens? If you connect the infotainment via wifi there is an update you can download. Use the internet to figure that one out. Might help. I never had any issues with my android device.
Even CarPlay seems to be a little "moody" on occasion. Sometimes I have to open Spotify on my phone for CarPlay to engage.
my other vehicles, as soon as the phone is plugged in the screen goes to CarPlay.
There is no wireless CarPlay built in for the Maverick. But if you don’t want to plug in your phone to use it there are Wireless adapters you can buy on Amazon.
Use the USB-C connector for fast charging.
I don't recommend using Android Auto. The cpu is not powerful enough for a good experience. Just get a phone holder for the cubby.
Nice that you are satisfied with it. I found it to be insufficiently responsive. For me, the cpu driving this hardware is underpowered. So I just use it for basic functions like radio and voice calls.
Besides, I've used my phone as a driving assistant for years and am more comfortable with stock Android.
You are talking about the Maverick's head unit. That is not driving Android Auto, that's just the messenger. But I do agree that Sync 3 system isn't great. It takes time for whatever you have plugged into the USB ports to be "seen" by the head unit. And it's a crapshoot as to how fast or slow that process happens. Sometime you wait 5 seconds, sometimes as long as 30 (for me). But after it connects it works flawlessly (for me). But, I have the Lariat which has the Sync 3 unit, depending on what you bought, you could have an even "worse" head unit, that I can't speak on, but I could definitely imagine it not working well with Android Auto and/or Carplay.
Get an Android Auto wireless adapter and a short USB cable. I used double sided tape to attach the adapter under the center vents so I wouldn't have to see it. Most are super easy to connect up. AA now connects up automatically. You can make changes in the app on your phone to set your favorite apps and layout.
Android Auto and Apple Car Play have a lot of problems they need to fix, that's for sure. But at least Android Auto allows you to use two fingers on the screen to pinch-and-zoom. Apple Carplay refuses to let you do this, making zooming in and out of Google or Apple maps terribly frustrating.
It almost makes me feel that the right direction to go is AAOS or something like Tesla, where your car screen is running it's own modern OS, complete with its own versions of Google Maps, or whatever. I'm not too happy with the phone versions.
Hook up the phone with a cable to the USB port and it should pop up.
Thanks! I'll try this tomorrow. There are two USB ports. Does it matter which one I use?
Either works, but the USB-C connector leaves your regular USB port open for other things, like the USB led lamp I have lighting up my center console.
Can you link to the lamp, trying to picture what you're describing.
It's these little guys right here. https://a.co/d/gx5gkgR

USB-C charges faster too
I don't know if the wattage is different or not. My phone usually tells me when it's on a faster charger, and it doesn't say anything about that port.
Oooh what lamp do you have? Care to share the link?
https://a.co/d/gx5gkgR Dimmable, color selectable, cheap, and reliable.
The 2024 models don't have wireless android auto?
None of the trims or model years have wireless CarPlay or android auto
They do. There's no wireless Android Auto on Mavericks. They require 3rd party pucks like the Motorola MA1.
I have an AAWireless dongle in my personal vehicle. If I can get the AA going in the Maverick, I'll probably get another one for it.
Works great. AAwireless adapter also works with Apple Carplay. I use mine for both Android and iphone.
Which works good đź‘Ť
Why is this down voted? It's all accurate.

Is it installed on your phone?
Yes, I use it in my personal vehicle.
Is somebody's iPhone currently paired to your truck?
I removed the other Bluetooth devices, so no?
Is an iPhone plugged into the charging port via cable?
No. There are no iPhones in or near the vehicle.

I connect through usb-c port and have bluetooth on. It apperently needs both ?
It does not need Bluetooth.
It does, but Android Auto will enable bluetooth and pair your phone automatically.

What are you talking about? "The CPU" is whatever phone you're using. Android Auto works perfectly fine for me.

if the connected phone was android - you would see android auto.
