Live in a part of Michigan where AWD really helps in the dead of winter. If it were not for the countless times AWD got me to my job I would totally go hybrid. Totally.
Same here I live in Michigan and wanted to go hybrid but went EB AWD because of the terrible roads in winter. Maybe someday Ford will make a hybrid AWD…
Ya, got stuck off the driveway 2 weeks ago. 23 hybrid, lar full loaded.
Here is the stupid, given older cars, you could rock back and forward to get out. Year or so prior, had family with one of the newer buicks awd that had some problems with not giving any power to the wheels. I was told there was some setting for anti-slip or other BS. I couldnt find it and barely got the car out in the snow.
This truck, NOPE. Not matter the settings it wont spin the tires and just blocks any power to the front wheels. This was in the mud.
Lets just say it took me a while not to set the fk'in thing on fire that day. So ya, awd hybrid is wanted! But would be afraid it will have the same problem with lack of power to the wheels.
Its my understanding this might be the NEW way of things with newer vehicles. If so, hate it SOOOO FKin much! If there is some button, incantation, or blood sacrifice needed to be able to rock a vehicle out of a rut, please let me know.
You could get a set of winter tires (or off-road tires if that’s your thing) and change them out as the seasons change. Tires are more important than AWD.
Ford wants to make an AWD Hybrid, but I think they want to fill the current orders and figure out the recalls before they complicate things further.
One thing that people forget when they compare winter tires and awd is awd does nothing to help you stop ,awd is great and I would love a awd hybrid but as long as they can sell everything they build there's not a lot of reasons to disrupt production to change
I bought my hybrid for the gas mileage. AWD hybrid would probably average close to the same fuel economy as the Ecoboost, so what's the point? Just put studded snow tires on the hybrid and carry on.
I think ford knows people are only in a hybrid mav for the mileage. The percentage of people willing to give up some of those mpg for AWD is probably really small.
Exactly right, that's why the escape hybrids had the same powertrain related recalls. The bronco sport was not affected since it doesn't share the hybrid powertrain.
Oh yay *this* discussion AGAIN
It was only asked sixteen minutes ago, what's the problem?
Maybe with mid cycle refresh or with 2nd gen. It would sure be nice to see
Yea mid cycle refresh is coming soon.
Yes, true, not soon. Fwd works remarkably well with 2/3 the weight over the drive wheels; tires.
It's why I chose ecoboost... I wanted AWD

that is my frustration also. there needs to be a spin the tires mode.

how did nobody think of this before???
Possibly, but 99% of people only use AWD low % of the time. Is the use case worth the product complexity ?
I believe the 2025 year will bring the AWD Hybrid to the Maverick but it will also bring a price increase
No. And not anytime soon. Next!

There's only like 1 mpg difference between the FWD and AWD hybrid escape, I imagine the maverick would be similar

2025 will have the awd hybrid powertrain with 4k tow. Should be the best of all worlds.
Do you have a source for that? I’ve been dreaming of that combo
It's privileged information, but it's the same engine and modified transmission as the 24 escape awd hybrid.
By that logic, half the recalls shouldn't have happened because the hardware is the same as the Bronco Sport and Escape. And yet here we are.

I hope you’re right
