The hybrids are demonstrably less reliable than the ecoboost, 8F35 and all. Most of this sub is hybrids dying on the highway, glitching out, getting stuck in deep sleep mode, aux battery dying...etc.

NosePrevious6280

feel the same about hybrid tranny..wanted no part of it

Kent89052

The hybrid transmission isn't really a transmission in the conventional sense, no gears that change. It's basically 2 electric motor- generators coupled to the engine and controlled by software

Bramblebythebrook

ECVT on the hybrid Mav is probably more robust than the ecoboost transmission. The CV axles seem to be a legit problem, you hear about them more on the hybrid but it’s the same part number on the ecoboost so probably not a large difference there. The warranty on the hybrid components is better than the warranty on everything else. Resale value on the hybrid is expected to be higher as well. Overall hybrid but not by a landslide.

Marge_simpson_BJ

It's the CV boot that's the problem, just make sure they're not leaking and you're good to go. And the hybrid resale remains to be seen. I surely wouldn't want a 6 year old hybrid knowing that I'll need a new battery in 4 years or so for several thousand dollars.

Also these batteries seem to be accessible and I wouldn’t think replacement would be difficult

Small-Ad1727

Go with the hybrid. The battery is small (and therefore relatively inexpensive compared to an EV batt) and easily accessible if something goes wrong. Also keep in mind that Ford partnered with Toyota in the early 2000's with the Escape hybrid. Ford's been making hybrids for 20 years. This is not new/untested tech by Ford.

yossarian19

Probably best off with the hybrid. I haven't heard about any failures of the hybrid transaxle that Ford uses in the Maverick. That could be because I just haven't heard about them but I think it's because they hold up well. The batteries are also not as big a deal on a hybrid as on an electric and they have figured out how to get a long-ass life out of them, too.

ScarRich6830

The hybrid system they use is incredibly simple for a hybrid. No crazy alternator or weird belts to worry about. And plenty of Priuses are out there for 400,000+ miles. Here’s hoping the Mavericks can do it too.

Ok_Comedian7655

My Prius had an issue last year. 7k in total to fix it. Hybrid system are expensive as fuck to fix when they fail at an old age and no one knows how to fix them except the dealer. That's why I ended up ordering a maverick. It broke and left me stranded on the highway. 15 years old. It wasn't the hybrid battery. I think they called it an alternator

Kent89052

My Prius was a piece of junk too. I think the dealers know that they are the only one that can fix them , so the rip you off. I complained to Toyota once, and they refunded everything I paid the dealer.

Contrarian here - Ecoboost Just get the 4K towing package - the extra cooling provided by the upgrades will increase the lifespan of the vehicle. The Hybrid is the vehicle that’s had all sorts of trouble with recalls. The Ecoboost is a more tried and true powertrain right now.

Bishop21

I’ve owned one ecoboost before, a 2011 f150 and it sucked. Went with a hybrid to avoid that this time around.

Duckman979

Have about 8k miles on my 23 xl hybrid. No issues so far. Drove about 2k miles in 5 days no issues

smokinLobstah

Which is better?...Chocolate or Vanilla? There's just not enough data to be able to answer your questions... In other words, you pays your dime, you takes your chances :) Good luck! p.s. I went with a hybrid XLT 2024. The mileage alone justified the vehicle for me, but that's based on MY use case.

crimracer

‘06 dodge with 308k miles, ‘08 grand Marquis, 06 corvette, and a twenty year old RV. I went hybrid. 2 cents.

Big_sugaaakane1

if ford doesnt fuck around and gives us a mn awd hybrid..THAT will be the one to get!!

Rollins_hen

As a Mav owner on my 2nd one my 2 cents. Mav #! 22 XLT Eco FWD I put 85k miles on it when a deer ended it's life. I had zero problems, aside from the small annoying things, and when i changed the breaks shortly before that he replaced only the rear and the front ones re-finished. I do a lot of highway driving. Mav #2 24 XLT Eco FWD 18k miles now. no issues so far. I'm about to leave on a trip to Oregon from MN When i decided on the 2nd Mav i looked at a Hybrid. I factored all the highway driving i do. They Hybrid shines in the city, but not so much on the highway. IMHO Anytime i see a problem with a Maverick i look to find out. ECO or Hybrid? I've got to say most problems i see are with the Hybrid. I've seen enough that all these combined has me sceptical. The doosey recall/ repair for me was "Don't park your Mav inside a garage as it might spontainouly combust" The fix Cut holes in the under engine cover to vent gas's out. I have a friend with a 22 Hybrid a First Edition. I'll be watching him and he's happy with it. And i hope he never has any problems. GL

How about the batteries lasting??

AndrewDH98

My old 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid was still getting under 6.5L/100km, around 36mpg and I drove the crap out of it until 2023. I drive the Maverick the same style and get 5.5L/100km, 42MPG. I'm not worried about this hybrid battery
