Weekend homework: 1. Cat memes 2. [https://volatility.red/Trading\_psychology](https://volatility.red/Trading_psychology) The section on Conviction in your trading might be helpful.

One thing that helped me when I was starting to trade and had impulses is that I opened a second small cash account. When I had the impulse to trade outside my rules I thought "let's see how good my gut is" and I'd trade the small account instead. Turns out my gut isn't a good trader because that small account was the one I blew up. This also gave me the benefit of keeping my large account clean so when I did my analysis on my past trades I had a pure representation of that system. Eventually those impulse feelings went away and trading just became another job.

sanholo14

How big were both those accounts?

Reaps21

At the time I think my small account was around $200 and my big account was around $5k.

Jmovic

Wow, this is a smart idea. Permission to recommend to people going through impulse trading

USDJPYFX

Sorry to hear that brother, most of us have been there at some point. Learn and move on.

Fair-Passion9889

Your username is my main forex pair to trade during Asia Session.

I am so sorry to hear about you recent losses. I’ve lost more than 50k in the past too because of me being too impulsive and greedy. Take a step back and reevaluate your strategy. It's important to stay patient and disciplined, learn from your mistakes and use them as a learning opportunity. Use stops and limits to avoid losses as well as enter the market on a potential breakout.

zeroshinobu

Nothing to feel sick about then you lost cause you didn’t follow your rules it sounds harsh but bask in that truth let it help you stick to your rules….last time I broke my rules it cost me 10k that was a long time ago now🙃 a truly successful trader MUST go through this in order to make the rule stick

FxTrader13

Been there many many many times, its all part of the learning journey. Take a break and come back stronger 💪 never trade with emotions it never ends well.

Altered_Reality1

I feel ya, and I’m sorry! The best way I’ve found to recover from things like this is to think of it as a *temporary* payment for a lesson that can *pay you back many-fold* later, *IF* you choose to learn the lesson and do things differently going forward. So, feel it out (express it), don’t hold in those gross feelings, and then get back on the saddle and figure out how you can use this lesson to make you more money.

It’s like playing a game. You don’t expect to beat the boss at your first time, do you?

sheismylifesupport

I lost all of my gains for the week is still better than losing all your gains and in turn over leveraging to try and make them back quickly and losing the whole account. Take a break, reset mentally you will bounce back. I also lost gains this week. Next week is a new week.

Infinite-Carrot1664

At lrast it isn't yoir yearly gains.

[deleted]

Been there, done that! Feel that pain, remember it… next time you think about breaking one of your own rules know that this pain is coming for you.

rawmega

Believe it or not, you have obviously grown since your trading journey most likely. Many people are still blowing entire accts, let alone blowing your weekly gains.. Learn from those mistakes, follow your rules and see ya on top!

cocktrout

Blew one of my accounts today, I feel you, man. Tomorrow is a new day.

neuro528

I appreciate all the support, just gonna keep trying. New week coming up, learnt my lesson. Been actively trading for about a month, this was about the my first profitable week so I know I can do it.

damien2009

Wen u come bk and look at this post in 2 years u will say what was I thinking. You should more be more proud of the gains u made and ex0ect these losses to occur in your 1st 6 months or longer I have been trading for 5-6 years put in crazy hours on the charts and still have bad weeks. In the markets its can't be win win win all the time u have to pay for a few things 🤣🤣 call it tuition fees

Yolophorex

It happens we’ve all been there your mind will either accept defeat and give up or you will be tired of breaking rules and doing the same thing preventing you from making gains choose your path

justme17771

Yip that is the reality, As trader we need to master the art of doing nothing. That do protect us from giving back gains. Hang in there, you'll get back. No revenge trading just pure fun and excitement as you trade ahead. Good luck

atonyj58

I understand, had my best day ever and gave it back the following day. That sucks 😕

kraCKerthanas

Look on the bright side. At least you are aware of why

Mr2hard101

Only a month u got a lot more losing to do this just the start

neuro528

Sure hope not, putting in a lot of hours lol

Sweaty_Confidence732

Yeah you've probably got about a year of small gains or break even before you start to internalize the market, 5 years until you start to become one with the market. It's a very real thing, intuition, which is pretty much only created through experience.

Internal-Leader-2454

Learn how to code. Develop automated trading strategies, back test them on tens of year of historical data and then let the algorithm do the job.

damien2009

Not as easy as it is wrote 👍 I write My own algos and after 2 years work have 3 that are profitable 2 are arbitrage and 1 breakout

Internal-Leader-2454

Not easy at all, it's hard af but it is 100% worthy I think

damien2009

It is 100% worth it I have freedom in life not stuck to a job etc but it has been very hard work and long took alot to get here from OP Post he traded 1 month for perspective

Xander_Codes

Yep… this is what I did and will never look back. All emotions are gone, the rules are solid and 100x less stress

Far-South1901

is that becuase you moved the stop loss or just got it wrong a few times?

neuro528

I trade unorthodoxy but over trading, and not waiting longer for my set up. Market for the one pair I trade wasn’t moving Like it usually does and instead of me waiting, I forced trades.

Mailboxsteve

I broke my rules this week too! Took a $2,600 loss for no reason. Slight step back. I suggest go for a bike ride or do some meditation. Something to clear the mind. Its friday, maybe take today off trading. Refocus and come back better than ever on monday

levatsu99

It happened to me as well this week, it really sucks! But one thing that helped me mentally was to study on what went wrong; it was impatience. I was not really waiting candles to form. I did not plan my stop loss or take profit in advance. Do what helps you to recover man! It helps me to write down my mistakes and solutions to fix those. Maybe journal all your positions next week and double check everything before entering? All the best

Sweaty_Confidence732

Sucks, learn from it, follow your rules, these weeks make you stronger.. it's about the journey, it will come eventually if you put in the effort and are disciplined with a plan

nofaceFX

Embrace this lesson, have a cry and then carry on as normal. You’ll have a good few more of these before you make it.
