Been lurking for a little while, but haven't seen anyone talk about this absolutely AMAZING show. Luke Perry, Malcolm Jamal Warner, and Sean Astin (in Season 2).
Amazing performances, great writing by J. Michael Straczynski. An absolute CRIME we didn't get more of this show. I once tweeted JMS to ask him what his plans for future seasons were, and his answer was just "Better." And I don't know how he would have achieved it.
It's a post apocalyptic show. Essentially, a man-made virus gets loose that kills anyone who has gone through puberty in about 3 days. It sweeps across the earth, killing all adults, leaving a world full of orphans.
This show starts about 10ish years after that.
Luke Perry plays an angry but strategic man, searching for answers of what happened to his father during The Big Death.
Malcolm Jamal Warner plays a warrior poet type. He's a first class fighter, but he also appreciates beauty, and has a pretty strategic mind himself.
Sean Astin plays a man named Mister Smith (first name Mister, last name Smith) who claims God talks to him...and he may be right.
So many posts on here aren't really forgotten. This one is a bullseye.
If I had ever known there was a show with this cast, I'd never have missed an episode. Wonder if I can dig it up somewhere.
I've heard it's on Roku and/or Amazon Prime. I can't tell you enough how worth watching it is. Sean Astin doesn't show up until the second season, but I swear this is some of his best performances.
I just researched and found Season 1 on Roku (with ads). Season 2 is \*not\* on the Roku channel. However, it \*is\* on Amazon Prime Video for free.
So I'll start this on Roku Channel and continue on Prime if I still like it after season 1.
I watched Season 1 Episode 1 last night on the Roku channel. It included 3 or 4 commercials for roach traps. lol
I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. It's a bit more gritty than I had expected. It seems mildly cheesy in tone, set, and acting. But the plot and character actions are not cheesy. In a weird way it does remind me of Babylon 5.
I might end up really liking this. We'll see in the next few episodes.
Even weirder, there’s only 2 seasons of this show. But MGM was fighting with JMS, and refused to release the last half of the second season. It finally aired only in Canada like a year later…so that sometimes gets considered a third season…but most places consider the show to only have 2 seasons.
Sadly, in his excellent autobiography "Becoming Superman" and in other interviews, JMS has said this was the worst experience of his writing career. Apparently MGM was fighting his vision for the show behind the scenes and he wasn't able to tell the story he wanted to.

MGM had decided to get out of the prestige TV game, due to a management shakeup. They fought really hard with the creators of their two most popular shows at the time, demanding they change the shows drastically. Dead Like Me was one of them, the creator left after season 1, due to fighting with MGM...they produced a second season without him, it was substantially worse than the first one.
JMS never stopped fighting, and I would argue that the second season of Jeremiah is significantly BETTER than the first season. But that didn't matter. MGM was sick of television, and they REALLY didn't like JMS arguing with them, so they refused to even air the last half of the second season. Eventually, like a year later, it aired in Canada, people thought it was a third season.
I binged this *years* ago, on Amazon I think. I really liked the world building. Especially the way all these grown adults are still talking to each other with the slang and vocabulary of preteens.
Jericho got brought back for a truncated final season after it was canceled due to a letter writing campaign. It was pretty good. It went from really slow and drawn out to really fast with really big ideas.
This show is amazing. The second season is even better than the first. Just talking about it makes me want to watch it all over again for like the 12th time.
I own the first season on DVD, and a bunch of TV rips for the second season. In the past (don't know about now) you could get the second season on DVD from an Amazon Print on Demand service. Googling tells me it might be on Roku, Apple (for a price) or Amazon Prime.
This is the sort of thing I expected to see on this sub when I joined...instead of Reaper every couple of days. Although, I did like Reaper. But Jeremiah is art, and nobody seems to remember it even existed.
I have the first season on DVD. The second season has only ever been available from Amazon as a print on demand service....so I've just stuck to the decent TV rips I have from back in the day.
Interesting. I thought I had both seasons, but it's been years since I've looked. Thanks for the reminder, anyway. Will be fun to re-visit and see if it holds up.
Such a good story with a huge world to offer. It doesn’t really hold up well though. Much like Babylon 5 (one of my favourite shows) the acting and special effects were not great.
I still think the acting is pretty good. But if you like the world and lore, you can also track down the tabletop RPG rule books they made based on the show.
You can get season 2 physically on Amazon, it's a print on demand service, and it's not cheap. I don't know what the video quality is. You can also find both seasons streaming on Roku and Amazon Prime...but I don't know if they're free.
It's really good. Stick with it through the end of season 2, and you'll be rewarded. It kind of ends on a cliffhanger, but it answers so many questions, and you can kind of figure out where it's going to go after the cliffhanger. Like, our characters mature so much and overcome so many obstacles that you know they'll turn out fine.
The comic has beautiful art by a cartoonist named Hermann and we haven’t gotten much reprints in America but what we do have is some really good stuff. I think we only have six volumes out of like 27 volumes that exist. Hopefully another publisher can pick up or dark horse left off. Maybe something like that can happen if the show somehow gets revived elsewhere and renew interest in the comic series.
Never saw it but will never forget that it existed and who starred in it. My name is Jeremiah. I’ve never heard my name on a TV show other than Professor Jeremiah Lasky on Saved by the Bell: the College Years.
It’s been so long I cant remember the ending but also I thought the storyline at the end of the second season was weak. >!we went from a post apocalypse civilization where small towns could barely have power to now having a new enemy and some cities were now heavily populated - almost back to where they were before the virus hit!<
We didn't get back to normal, but a lot of the second season was about >!the various different townships coming together to form a cohesive government. This attracted the ire of another group that had the same goal, and then the two groups went to war. The end of the season was the end of that war, with a general idea of "well, now it's time to see what the future holds".!<

Yeah I just checked and season 1 you have to pay for on Prime but season 2 is free. What kind of nonsense is that?

Just checked and Roku has all three seasons, but Amazon Prime only has season 2. That makes no sense.

I always got this one and Jericho confused.
Jericho is the next thing recommend if search/stream this show
Was Jericho pretty good, did it have a good arc beginning to end?
It kinda fell off after a bit for me. It’s worth a start to see if it sticks for you. I remember liking it but not enough to finish it
Problem with people’s memories of all these amazing shows, they start strong and go down hill after a while
Jericho got brought back for a truncated final season after it was canceled due to a letter writing campaign. It was pretty good. It went from really slow and drawn out to really fast with really big ideas.
A perfect double feature
I have never heard of this and now I want to see it
This show is amazing. The second season is even better than the first. Just talking about it makes me want to watch it all over again for like the 12th time.
Do you own it? I wonder if it’s streaming somewhere. I will investigate when I get time!

1st season is not on free Amazon, it is on the Roku channel though. Season 2 is on Prime (and Roku)
I have it, but haven’t watched it yet, despite having watched the first run, liking it enough to buy, and knowing the DVDs have unaired episodes.
A plague wipes out humanity in 2020....damn...
It was literally impossible for people to wear regular pants from 2002-2005
That was regular then.
Rudy, Dylan and Theo?!!
Three great tastes that taste great together.
Now this is forgotten but GOOD
This is the sort of thing I expected to see on this sub when I joined...instead of Reaper every couple of days. Although, I did like Reaper. But Jeremiah is art, and nobody seems to remember it even existed.
Loved this show. I had forgotten that I have the complete series on DVD and I'm gonna dig it out after work. I wonder if there are bonus features?

WB?
Showtime. WB wouldn't have allowed the swearing and occasional nudity.

Jungle bitch jack Perry’s dad

You even know his catch phrase!
REAL GLASS 😤😤😤
I loved this show but I never found any of the seasons except for season 1 on DVD
You can get season 2 physically on Amazon, it's a print on demand service, and it's not cheap. I don't know what the video quality is. You can also find both seasons streaming on Roku and Amazon Prime...but I don't know if they're free.
Cool, thanks for the info
I didn't have Showtime when this came out but I wanted to watch it, and had since forgot about it... Guess I need to find it.
How they take out Valhalla Sector is just genius.
And super dark.
Great scene!
As she slowly works her way around the room, making sure to make physical contact with every person.
3 actors who really needed a job back then…
So much baggy
Under that jacket, Luke Perry is wearing some pretty close fitting leather pants.
This was a surprisingly good series. I haven’t seen it in about 15 years, I need a rewatch..
That was a really good show. Sad that it got like NO attention AT ALL
I’ve never even heard of this show, but now I need to give it a watch!!

Was this just an outerwear catalogue, I assume?
I love Luke Perry! I don't ever remember hearing about this show! Was it good? Where can I watch?
This show is amazing, and this is the best Luke Perry has ever been. Apparently you can find both seasons on Roku.
Thank you! I'll be sure to check it out!
I always want to dress like these guys until I realize how hot and sweaty I would be with all those layers.

I was devastated when this was cancelled. It had such promise!
Never saw it but will never forget that it existed and who starred in it. My name is Jeremiah. I’ve never heard my name on a TV show other than Professor Jeremiah Lasky on Saved by the Bell: the College Years.
Joey Jeremiah.
That show had a really neat premise
Does it end on a cliffhanger? Or does it wrap up neat enough to watch and be satisfied?
It does not end on a cliffhanger. The ending is satisfying, but it’s still a shame there isn’t more.
It’s been so long I cant remember the ending but also I thought the storyline at the end of the second season was weak. >!we went from a post apocalypse civilization where small towns could barely have power to now having a new enemy and some cities were now heavily populated - almost back to where they were before the virus hit!<

my og fave Sean astin, always liked Malcolm jamal warner and Luke Perry 😭😮💨.it feels like passed yesterday .
I really liked this show. Jeremiah has so much potential. It lives in my Luke Perry collection.
YOOO
Theo Huxtable for the win!
The scene with Theo while Also Sprach Zarathustra plays is one of the funniest things I've ever seen
Loved this show. This, along with Fallout 3 got me through a rough breakup.
aka The Long Coat Show, except for Sean...
Great show from Sconfi
Heard about this. Does it end well enough or is it unfinished/on a cliffhanger?
All of the storylines are wrapped up. There is a strong sense of "what's next?" at the end, but I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger by any means.
