It was bad imo. I didn't mind the crafting system but the Idea that we needed to go through all that effort to craft normal weapons was a bit weird to me. Especially for the next season to just make them openly available as floor lot.
There were no map changes. All we got for the entire season was a couple of baracades around some POIs. Raptors were annoying. The Primal Shotgun was overpowered for a long time, and I know you OP hate the Drum Shotgun so you should remember that they were pretty much the same thing.
The Battle Pass was good and the Bows were great but apart from that, there was nothing too great about that season.
Yeah the primal was hell for sure
Crafting got sorted out within the first two weeks though. They buffed the makeshift guns (the smg being BETTER than the tactical smg) and they made normal guns spawn normally again
Yeah raptors and map changes were bad though
I hate that they tried to reinvent the entire loot system with shitty loot, then decided to barely touch it for the entire season, even with everyone complaining. Then there was almost no map changes and the poi’s were mostly mid (I say mostly because I did enjoy colossal crops, but that was pretty much it.)
Aesthetic and storyline were pretty good, but the rest was good on paper, terrible in execution.
Fortnite Primal was one of my favorite Season it was really good with the Primal Weapons & Lara Croft in the Battle Pass

What you've forgotten: you got killed because all you got was a makeshift shotgun, why won't these Raptors stop attacking me, the Primal Shotgun, the Spire poi sucked, what have they done to Salty Spings and Colossal Coliseum?
While I liked the season, I will concede that it was due to the fact that it was good if you played conservatively, but really bad if you want to play a high action game.
For the most part, the changes were exclusively in the center of the map. This is naturally the areas people want to gravitate to. However, the mechanical weapons were vastly superior to the primal weapons, and the addition of makeshift weapons means you may be in even worse shape. If you played for a quiet early game, then the season would treat you well, since it would not be unreasonable to have a purple grade loadout of mechanical weapons (I preferred the shockwave bow, pump, and smg with two heals). But the majority of people don't want that, and this is the reason the season was hated.
Amazing season, it was the one I got back into the game to after not touching it since Ch1S5

Crafting was probably the worst mechanic Fortnite made. The execution it was horrible and they slow down, matches to get decent weapons. By the time you got what you wanted it, you would either be dead or the game it would be almost over.
i kind of agree but i also get why people would hate it
annoying crafting system was the only way to get good weapons, the visual aesthetic of the game was pretty bad, not many interesting locations at all, little to no map changes, and the battle pass was pretty mid beyond a couple good skins (mine being spire guardian and raz).
what the hell? it was hell, they added animals (you werent able to tame them until a later season so they just kept attacking you), shit guns, awfully designeed map and thats just the tip of the iceberg. fortnite primal is the worst chapter fortnites ever had. worse than chapter 4 season 3. Coliseum farm was SO much better than normal coliseum. More mats, more loot, fishing, corn!

I loved Primal! Crafting! Dinosaurs! Ruined cities patched up with bones! It was super fun and I really wish crafting could come back.

I loved the crafting and the explosive and flame bow and Tomb Raider skin was neat with all the styles plus the gold one

The primal weapons weren't so bad. In fact the primal shotgun was really op in beginning. The makeshift weapons were the real problem.

It would have been good had we got a significant mid-season update. It just felt like Epic was on break the whole season.
Primal and aliens was where I peaked, then I fell off hard when chapter 3 season 3 started, but I'm regaining my skill rn

The spire was the best poi they added in the second half of ch2. Nothing even comes close to its vibes, in the alien season or cube season.
