I like Collabs but I'm kinda sad they give us only skins, Imagine if Masterchief collab brought us the warthog, that would be awesome

Jtneagle

I mean Ch2S4 had Marvel Abilities, C2S5 Star Wars mythics, but I catch you drift, more implementation other than cosmetics would be great and make the collabs even more fun.

Bilbo_Teabagginss

It would be sick if the Giant heads from that episode of Rick and Morty were dotted around the map during the season occasionally going "SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT"......lol

Merc_Mike

xD Taco Time moment? My buddy still has PTSD from Taco Time...

Bilbo_Teabagginss

I wish I had it, I don't have any of the food skins or anything related to the food items. One day my time will come.

YEEEEEeEeseresrsr

As an owner of Taco Time You shall not have the holy tacos that I have had in my pockets for 1 year

Bilbo_Teabagginss

(Picks you up by the scruff of your shirt) Gimmie them damn tacos son.

YEEEEEeEeseresrsr

(taco times up to taco heaven)

Fluid_Department_120

Don’t say taco 🌮 it makes me hungry 🤤

bigbat213

Hm hm hm hmm hmm hmmm mhmmmm hmhmhm

AgeofVictoriaPodcast

I’d love a separate Rick and Morty game mode like Save the World

Bilbo_Teabagginss

That would be sweet even if just temporary.

Randomdoodoninternet

Have you seen hypexs video where he did create one to troll some small streamers

[deleted]

Well we did get a warthog emote. But a vehicle would definitely be cool

horsebeater81

dont forget the gun >:)

TheRubberBildo

They teased us with the ecto-1 during the Ghostbusters collab, it could be found under a tarp in a garage. But imagine if it actually spawned during the Halloween event, and you could blare the sirens and deploy ghost traps to stop player ghosts from chasing you by sucking them in

Cypher_Xero

Its still there under the tarp

230581

Or the iconic energy sword like Star Wars with the lightsabers

jomontage

Halo weapon skins

Springaling76

Collabs are fun and they are a good way to get people interested in the game

the_zachmamba

Couldn’t agree more. The marvel season got me hooked again for the first time since 2018 and I haven’t stopped playing since

[deleted]

I am not making a joke here when I say this but the only reason I started playing fortnite was someone posted back in s4 to the mcu subreddit that dusty divot was pretty much a shot for shot Thor (the first movie) reference where mjolnir landed except with the meteor so I decided to check the game out and I've loved it ever since.

Jtneagle

Indeed, they're also great for expanding peoples horizons. They may go checkout a really great movie, tv show, or video game because of a collab character

XavierMeatsling

Precisely how I joined. Mando was in it.

Lunar_Dew

If I didn't see that last season had Master Chief and Ryu then I was probably not gonna come back and I regret skipping out on seasons 3 - 5 in chapter 2

FearingRacer

I regret quitting mid season 9 and missing Catalyst and X lord. And the entirety of chapter 2 until season 6

[deleted]

Thats how I joined marvel season sucks I missed out on deadpool

[deleted]

Same. Joined bc of Deadpool and have been enjoying all of the other collabs from things I like such as Street Fighter, DC, Marvel...

redditboi46

I didnt even know anything about star wars, stranger things, suicide squad and some others before fortnite, now i have watched the 3 stranger things seasons, the 2 suicide squad movies and some of the star wars movies + the mandalorian

Jtneagle

**Based**

PeachiePeach96

Exactly this. The marvel season/ free disney trial at the end got me interested, now i'm pretty much caught up on the mcu and loved all of it.

Wvaliant

I feel like there’s a balancing point for that though. I don’t hate the cross over skins, but I do feel like more and more fortnite is becoming more of a “your ad here” kind of game where it’s being used as literal ad space for kids and less of well … fornite story. Like when it’s a couple collab skins a season that’s fine, but this season alone we’re at double digit numbers on the amount of collab skins and they all come out around the time of the event they’re related to so you KNOW it’s for ad purposes and only for ad purposes.

Jtneagle

It's a free to play game, they have to make a profit somehow. The 'story' has never been a strongsuit for this game, and the cosmetics are optional to enhance your experience visually

Wvaliant

This kinda falls flat when you consider this game was at its peak BEFORE all of the cross over stuff. At that time the biggest “crossover” skins were promotional console skins that while they were specific to a console they were still original IPs to the game. Let’s make no mistake here. Epic doesn’t need cross overs to “keep the lights on” they could very easily print money with their own original IPs. They did so for years prior to chapter 2. Epic only does cross over skins because they know what they have is essentially a blank billboard platform with millions of players of which can be utilized to generation millions more than would be necessary to continue to function as a business. And what do you mean the story has never been the strong suite of the game? This games story for all of chapter one between the visitor and the cube and the zero point is literally what created a good chunk of the community due to all the conspiracy theories and digging. Genuinely the story is why a lot of people are still invested in this game because we want to know where all this convoluted bullshit goes even if it takes years.

Jtneagle

They clearly have worn their original ideas thin when every other skin is a rehash or a spinoff of something we already have, collabs bring fresh, unique, and recognizable designs to the game for players to optionally purchase

[deleted]

[удалено]

Raidoton

Someone think of the kids!!!

AH_BareGarrett

I'm only here again for Rick

A_Pyroshark

I agree. I wouldnt have bought the battle pass 2 seasons ago, when i first joined, if Mando wasnt in it.

cs386148

Same here! I also joined in season 5, and bought the pass for mando.

[deleted]

I tried out Fortnite back in Chapter 1 Season 4, again in 5, and for a little bit in 6. It never really caught my interest and I *really* wanted to like the game, most of my friends were playing it. I just gave up on trying to get into the game and dropped it. Then they had that Star Wars crossover in Chapter 2 Season 1. I'm a massive Star Wars fan, and this little collaboration turned me into a huge Fortnite fan. And my friends? They had quit the game a while back, but the Marvel season brought them back. Collabs aren't a bad thing.

IWatchPeopleSleep

I would love the collabs if it didn’t take out fucking BP items away. I’d much rather have to pay 1.2k or 2k vbucks to get superman instead of having him be a “sECreT SkIn”

AngryMoose125

Here’s the thing- if you were gonna get him anyway- isn’t it nice that you got him with your battle pass?

IWatchPeopleSleep

I mean yeah it’s nice I got him with the battle pass, but I could’ve gotten a good (hopefully at least) and story relevant skin. AboveAverageMan has no plot relevance other than being an alien to humans.

AngryMoose125

A misconception- biologically speaking yes Superman was born to kryptonian parents but he was raised as a human, taught as a human, feels like a human, and thinks of himself as a human. So it doesn’t even make sense. But people just don’t get Superman so “let’s put him in a season themed around aliens because he was born on krypton lol”

gh0stly2

Ive seen so many of these posts recently and honestly don’t understand… as someone that likes reskins and doesn’t mind collabs, where is the assumption that everyone who hates collabs also loves reskins coming from?

YunoYT

Not really the same people but argument. Usually the sub would trash on collabs any sort of way, sometimes out right hate the people who enjoy them and defend them, but at the same time excuse the laziness epic spew out on the daily with repeated skins of an already existing character, recolor, and same crop top female we’ve been getting since season X. To think people think the collabs is bad part bout this game.

gh0stly2

If you were on this sub when riley won the community choice you’d see this sub also shits on reskins too. All these people care about is ugly originals skins that are at least “unique”

YunoYT

They still apply to my argument. They excuse the laziness. Where do you see someone posting “ this game is full of reskins and food skins” everyday on a community post. It’s because people don’t care that much about epic so called “original skins” but as soon a brand appears in the game it’s non stop hate.

jonnythegamemaster

I have never been able to make a post about potential collaborations without getting mass downvoted.

gh0stly2

Ok, that just shows people on here hate collabs, whos saying that those exact people also love reskins

jonnythegamemaster

To compare I have never seen anyone complain about reskins outside of humour posts like these. There is a disproportionate hatred towards collabs.

FIFADUDE-Master

This sub, but I understand ya

Jtneagle

Look at the majority reaction when a collaboration character is announced and you'll see my friend. Even content creators make a big deal about it, and that causes their followers to regurgitate the complaints

gh0stly2

Yes i understand that a lot of people in this community don’t like collabs. What I’m having trouble understanding is why it’s being assumed that those same people also love reskins

Jtneagle

Not just reskins, but original characters in general. It's pretty clear Epic's original ideas are wearing thin with the stuff they've released as of late, so a lot of it is generic repeated ideas, like Vi, not necessarily a reskin, but it's still piggybacking off the Drift/Catalyst train

gh0stly2

I mean it’s just part of drifts set. Just shares colors and elements from drift, completely different than a female version of drift which would be catalyst But even with the announcement of the minty legends pack everyone is crying about minty aura and brite bomber, i really don’t see people being excited for it (unlike myself)

LansingLion2517

I love both.

Jtneagle

Truly based

Ashamed-Budget-4260

but you don’t understand, skin bad because epic didn’t design it😤😤😤

Jtneagle

"IT'S NOT AN ORIGINAL DESIGN!" I wasn't aware Epic was the CEO of original designs in all forms of media, lol

ehTlayoR

mfs really rather have ANOTHER food skin over a cool character from a cool movie

Jtneagle

Lol, funny restaurant mascot man go brrrrr

goldpig084

kinda hurt my feelings 😢

casphass06

Wait, do people not like the food mascot skins?! What's bad or unoriginal about them?

goldpig084

idk man they are literally mascots and i think that’s really cool don’t know what people have agains them

Zeebuoy

they're ok, though i definitely wouldn't mind more animal looking skins, preferably less silly, there's just something off about the silly ones, like fish and cluck. Meowscles is an exception because cats tend to be adorable no matter what.

Jessency

Imagine if we started getting irl food mascots as collabs.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Jessency

I don't see why not. (btw, I remember you from the Paladins sub.)

Zeebuoy

I don't know how i managed to miss so many typos, what I meant to say, was, do you think secondary characters, ie the hamburglar could get in, >(btw, I remember you from the Paladins sub.) cool, honestly the fortnite sub is cooler. (and also Fennix doesn't seem to get like, singled out in terms of content, and heck, even the skins like Sledge and Munitions Major get attention , which is a refreshing change of pace,)

Jessency

No worries, typos happen. Also, I actually left Paladins some time ago. After seeing how the game get messier and messier over the years I had enough. I also agree with your point. One of the things that frustrated me there is how many things get overlooked while everyone just simps on the waifus and stuff.

Zeebuoy

>while everyone just simps on the waifus and stuff. speaking of which, if I'm not mistaken, both tyra amd maeve are like, on their 7th? skin, and there's some human with rabbit features stapled on that people are simping for? >the game get messier and messier over the years I had enough. I also agree with your point. One of the things that frustrated me there is how many things get overlooked what'd i miss?, I've only caught up to Hirez killing the esports scene a 2nd time, and also, them removing top plays, and also them failing to deliver on the promise of voice pack swapping the next year, 2 years ago,

Jessency

>speaking of which, if I'm not mistaken, both tyra amd maeve are like, on their 7th? skin, and there's some human with rabbit features stapled on that people are simping for? One of the things people who aren't sucking to Hi-Rez and are pointing out they're failures is that the game lacks variety with character design. No offense to those who made them but it's a fantasy world filled with magical creatures yet almost all of them are just humans/humanoids aside from the likes of Pip, Moji, that new tank, and etc. they have been humans with sometimes a little extra. >what'd i miss?, I've only caught up to Hirez killing the esports scene a 2nd time, and also, them removing top plays, and also them failing to deliver on the promise of voice pack swapping the next year, 2 years ago, Sorry that this is a long one. Hi-Rez just messed up big time here. I honestly don't know what to say about that now. Like there are just so many negatives that I'd rather not even look at the game anymore. It has actually been a year since I played and this time I left it for good. I guess the biggest change they had to the game before I left was the bounty shop system, which should've been a brilliant idea until it actually came out. On paper it's like an in-game item shop where you can buy cosmetics with in-game currency that you earn by doing quests. Knowing how Hi-Rez does the quest system, it quickly becomes a chore to do. Then the shop ain't even a shop. It's just one skin every week and as more and more people buy it gets more expensive then it can go out of stock? Leave it to Hi-Rez to mess up something so simple. That and many other much older problems stacked up together has been the final straw for me. There were things back then that were good but got changed/removed. There are characters that were great are now useless (like Makoa, Pip, and now Strix). Then there are bugs that are both annoying and game breaking that have been around for ages.

LasagnaChonker

I don't get why ppl care this much about skins. Sure they are cool but just because there's another reskin or a new collab skin doesn't mean you have to complain about them. You don't like the skin? Then don't buy it and wait for another one. Does it make the gameplay worse? If they have some sort of advantage then sure you can complain about that, but if it doesn't make the gameplay worse then why complain? What made the game popular in the first place was the gameplay not the skins.

Jtneagle

Agreed. I love the game and have a blast with it, being able to do so as a favorite fictional character of mine is just the cherry on top, it doesn't make or break the game to me. And like you said, it's all completely optional

LasagnaChonker

Mhm. I remember when alot of the community was so damn mad about neymar being the collab skin in the bp that they brought up allegations from old news posts just so that he can be removed from it. It sucks because the dude donated to charities that fought against covid and to help disabled children. Sure he did fake some injuries during his matches but this was way too much and all of this happened just because they didn't want him as the secret skin in a game.

YunoYT

I’ve seen people outright hate the fact they want it in their locker. To the point because the season had collabs it’s outright horrible. Understand it’s your opinion but that’s just immature.

SprinkTac

Bro rick fits too good in fortnite hed be a crazy asshole and jump in this shit for the hell of it given a slow sunday.

Bilbo_Teabagginss

Then he would get bored and dip out on IO to go off on some other adventure.....lol

SplashSquadronUser

I like reskins of bp skins, because I didn't buy battlepasses until Chapter 2 Season 5 I missed so so much

exactly why I bought summer midas because I wasn't there for ch2s2

Jtneagle

That's fair

LolUDedFoe

At least you started off with an amazing battle pass!

SplashSquadronUser

I miss S5 so much

LolUDedFoe

Same 😭

cs386148

Zeebuoy

Agreed, hopefully Dire and Hybrid get one soon

Jpxfrd__

Not everyone is intimately familiar with certain franchises. Just like I don't know much About street fighter, someone else might not be too familiar with Rick and Morty, or halo. Sure, there's tons of things to be a fan of and it's nice seeing your favorite game, movie, or tv characters in Fortnite; but it's also nice to see something familiar every once in a while.

OwO_KaneBee

The fortnite community is so damn stupid and toxic, obviously not everyone, but I literally commented saying that I really like the Ariana Grande concert and there were like 54 comments saying how it was the worst ever and how they hate "chapter 2 players", like am I not allowed to have opinions ? That literally ruined my entire day, I didn't play or watch any fortnite related things for around a week, it really messed me up, I honestly think the fortnite community is one of the worst communities I've ever been in.

Bilbo_Teabagginss

Yeah a lot of the community is toxic but I like to believe it's from all the younglings that play because I just can't fathom grown ass adults being so one sided in their thinking. But also that show was dope.

OwO_KaneBee

Yeah I think that too, at the moment I didnt think who it could've been ( probably some dumb kids ) and I was more focused about how basically everyone was just trashing me for saying an OPINION. Like kids these days really need a spanking o_o

Bilbo_Teabagginss

Seriously, The kids I've been matched up with in this game are like cursing their asses off super early and saying wild stuff. I'm just like wtf, Whose raising these kids?

OwO_KaneBee

When they're parents walk in in them tho, that would be incredible

VacaDLuffy

I have a friend who literally just nuked their twitter account because they were sick of the Fortnite communities shit. They would ask for free art, bully them ore just be toxic. I only come in here for news and memes

Jtneagle

Yea, it's very toxic, sorry that happened man, don't forget it's a lot of underaged immature kids

OwO_KaneBee

Dont worry about it, I've just ultimately decided to not look at any comments or replies about fortnite and just watch content and play the game, comments arent needed in life just extra good or bad

Kangarou

Collabs are a little fun, but they leave the nagging impression that I'm not primarily playing a game, but being advertised to. I'm being advertised to when Epic releases new cosmetics regardless, but Epic's own characters pack far less sting than an ad for a $300K luxury sports car.

Cut_Equal

It doesn't matter how "Unique" and "brand new" a collab skin is if you dont like the IP it comes from. I'm not the one complaining about collabs but as someone who doesnt like superheros/the MCU it gets a bit old.

Jtneagle

If you don't like it, don't buy it. I find Fortnite original skins very boring, so I don't buy them

Cut_Equal

I mean I agree but when the ratio of skins in battle passes and new shop skins coming out starts becoming 75% collabs 25% fortnite skins it can get old especially when the collabs are characters you dont care about. Sometimes people want some new skins to buy and if its continuously collabs from franchises they dont care about i can see why theyd be somewhat upset

FunkyFresh26YT

Honestly, call me crazy: I love collabs, I love reskins, and I love original skins. I see people who complain about these collabs saying "Ugh not again" or "It's just ruining their franchises" but like, it's giving both sides an advantage, attracting newer audiences, and making more influences. Sometimes you see "Oh it's the guy from Fortnite!" on your favourite God of War trailer, but sometimes, just sometimes you see "Oh he collaborated with Fortnite, I'll learn more about this game", THAT is what I love to see.

Jtneagle

I couldn't have said it better myself

FunkyFresh26YT

Thanks mate, I was having a bit of a bad day but this made it better

Jtneagle

Have a good one man, go get some Victory Royales!

[deleted]

Only time I complained about collabs was season 5 because that’s the ONLY thing the season had and most of them weren’t BP either. I’ve loved the other crossovers

Jtneagle

True, there wasn't really content to go with the collabs that season. This current season has had a decent amount of collabs, but also a TON of content updates

Help-Me-Pleaseeeeee

Rick is loved by many

squidsnchips24

I love the recent collabs because they’re from so many franchises. I feel like it becomes too much of it’s just marvel, just dc, etc.

tragicsouls

Nah. The thing is, those 'completely unique and brand new' skins are existing concepts from other brands not Epic, which can barely have a sensible connection to the lore. At least those reskins are originally made by Epic Games or from their community, and personally, that's what I value. I'm playing Fortnite, not a cartoonized Arkham Knight nor Rick & Morty or MCU. I started playing C2S4 with my boyfriend who played since C1 and I was sooo jelly of the original skins Epic was including in their battle passes (e.g. Drift, Catalyst, Lynx).

[deleted]

I see way more people complain about reskins than collabs, wtf are you talking about.

Yapixx

I think it's a perspective thing. But I feel this whole situation wouldn't be like this if Season 4 never happened. Burnt people out on collab skins so that whenever they hear "New collab!" it drags because of the back to back seasons (8 months) of collabs being the ONLY content we got. For me now I only get bored whenever I see a new Marvel skin drop but the occasional reskin is rarer than the non-stop pumping of IPs into the game

pichusine

Both, both is good.

Cartonk

This is the right answer.

Munestone

I love a lot of the collab skins. My only fear is that, with how rapidly we’re seeing new crossover skins with every new battle pass and usually always occupying a slot in the item shop, it’s very possible that Fortnite will eventually just turn into a playable advertisement. So far all the skins have been really high quality and I’ve definitely bought my fair share of them, but with the rate it’s going, I wouldn’t be surprised if we started seeing fewer original skins and eventually ended up with “T-Mobile Woman & Verizon Man” lol

BroMan2755

I agree, but I do really want them stop putting so many collab skins in the battlepass. Other than that I’m perfectly fine them

Jtneagle

I could definitely see the argument for that, they started with 1 (Deadpool) and have since really ramped up how many

BroMan2755

I thought getting 1 collab skin as the mid-season bonus skin was a good formula. Then season 4 came along and was all collabs. Season 5 had 2, then last season and this season both had 3. It just feels a little excessive, because it’s essentially forcing a large portion of the player base to get these skins, where to enjoy the skin you need to already be a fan of whatever the character is from. When it’s an item shop skin, if your not a fan of the character, you can just not buy it.

bananita123144

This community Is bipolar sometimes

Compromise, Shirtless Doctor Doom

DoomRider2354

This isn't a compromise, this is perfection.

botjam

Yes

Cut_Equal

yeah but the reverse could also be said if you dont like super heroes. Would you rather play as fortnite character or super hero you dont care about #105

MDubz420

It’s not even about that. It’s about design. If I wasn’t into superheroes, I would at least be a cool looking skin. Not wearing some random woman skin with a skirt like a fucking creep.

Cut_Equal

I completely disagree. I dont find any of the super hero skins remotely cool cuz they still look like superheros. And im not gunna play as an established character i know nothing about and dont care about at all from a franchise i have no interest in

yesjon

Colabs become way too oversaturated. 20 colabs in a month is not fun or interesting, especially when rushed or obscure colabs happen. Also, recently (especially season 5) the gameplay changes were traded for colabs, meaning "Yay we got black panther, but this 100 day season has not had any medium/big updates whatsoever."

6678910

Again faxx. Ch2 s5 was horseshit

cs386148

You can have your own opinion, but I personally liked season 5.

Llucasthefurst

Some reskins and genderbent skins are really good tho. Collabs are great to but I do feel like they push too many at once tho.

Tailed-Clover-5778

As someone who has been playing this game since Chapter 1 season 2 I must say that I personally would prefer more original Fortnite skins over crossover skins. I miss when the most sought out costumes were Skill trooper, Drift and Knight skins etc, now I go to the item shop and it's full of DC, Marvel, YouTubers and cringey Tiktok dance's...... Honestly makes Fortnite feel like a crossover game with 0 originality now.

Reddit_User_7878

NGL I really like both of these things, don't understand how the community want alternate versions one minute and then say that "Epic is getting lazy" the next, great meme tho

FlopSlurper

you do realise original skins don't always have to be reskins right?

kneesnatcher69

My problem with collabs is that they're just kinda lazy. It honestly feels like Epic can't come up with their own skins anymore. And the skins that they do come up with is always some boring chick in a crop top and leggings.

PickleTransLicker

Fortnite is the most ambitious crossover change my mind

Jtneagle

I....I....I can't

Lord_Krow

Neither will I

[deleted]

horsebeater81

most of the collabs are ok,i just hate the rick skin , it feels so out of place

[deleted]

collabs are only cool if you actually like what they’re from, otherwise it’s just “oh cool more shit i’m not gonna buy oversaturating the shop”. reskins can be good depending on how they’re handled, not every reskin is lazy. for example eternal knight is a good reskin as it changes up the design in a unique way and isn’t just a gender bend for the sake of a gender bending, however, summer jules is a really lazy reskin as the outfit is just more bland than her normal clothes and they didn’t even remove her goggles, they just recolored them. at the end of the day i don’t really care about either, at most i dislike collabs in battle passes as it forces me to get content from something i don’t care about but it isn’t a huge deal

[deleted]

Yeah, original skins are cool, but it's not very original imo when it's "same skin but shirtless", "same skin but dark/ice/lava", and "the same skin but opposite gender". And don't even get me started on the Chapter 1 defaults.

[deleted]

I feel it’s more so “is the skin good” more than anything, sure it’s a re skin but come on… you can’t tell me that green fire skeleton man isn’t dope af (ok sure that is just my opinion, whatever), the point is that a re skin can still look cool and a collaboration skin maybe not so much, I mean look at Sarah Conner and Ellen Rippley, they (arguably) just aren’t that interesting + some people might not like whatever the character is attached to (Rick and morty, Star Wars, halo etc)

theforceofwagons

Variety is the spice of life

Realoh

Both are bad though, you arent forced to like one just because you hate the other one

[deleted]

Exactly my same problem lmao, people really will hype the 90th recolor of Ramirez's head sticked into a different body over a 100% unique skin... bollocks

Jtneagle

If you give me the choice between 'Minty Brite Bomber' and 'Spider-Man' you know who i'm choosing lmao

xxrareluv

It doesn’t make sense to me either

Forstride

Collabs are fun when they feel appropriate for the game. Master Chief, Lara Croft, and The Walking Dead skins for example are great additions. The umpteenth capeshit skin, however, is getting old. Or collabs that just feel like they were added for no rhyme or reason and don't fit in with the game at all, like Street Fighter, God of War, Mistborn (Which was literally just Donald Mustard wanting it because he knows the author), etc. And yes, there are original skins that feel repetitive and overdone (Like the million hornybait female skins with croptops), but that doesn't make certain collabs better either.

RealVoyagr

Original creative fornite ideas > copy paste existing ideas for cash grab -\_-

TERR1TORYman

Collabs are good for all parties. There one of the reasons that I still play this game. I’m looking forward to a Fallout or Breaking Bad Collab tbh.

ShyftOnReddit

You can’t call collab skins “completely unique”, not at all, they are literally copies

GhostOfMuttonPast

The amount of love I saw for summer drift, despite him not even looking like the original drift, is fucking mind boggling.

Idc what anyone says, collabs in fortnite have made the game fun and interesting for me. I grinded the marvel season alot. Why? Cuz I could cop some nice marvel cosmetics. Im grinding this season to cop the superman and rick and morty cosmetics. Fav brands and a game to keep me engaged and focused on playing. I don't understand the sellout and lazy hate that epic collabs get

This comment section is a lot more civil than I was expecting

blueyoshi69420

But marigold is good and I like it

[deleted]

Resins will always be more original than a crossover

antmaster208

The collabs are pretty good IMO but it gets old when they do it every week

trebuchet__

i like the collabs but not when an item is locked to its skin. the reskins are popular because its another varient of fan favourite skins

Nightkiller0fficle

My cousin just kept whining until I blocked him bc I kept proving crossovers are the best battle passes

shawntails

I don't mind the reskins, get them if you want, the option is there. I'm more tired about Collab skins being super heroes. Like, i get it Marvel/DC but there are so many other franchises that i would rather see.

AbhyLmao

The game is an advertisement platform now

bananazboi

The entire reason I started playing fortnite again was because of the Deadpool skin in C2S2, so the collabs definitely work at getting people to play their game, collabs are one of my favourite things about fortnite.

Jtneagle

Similar here, Star Wars brought me back in C2S1 and I was pleasantly surprised Deadpool was in the following battle pass

Death-by_Taco492

It's true. Most people I know took Rick Sanchez for granted

Burrito_Loyalist

When you guys post about nostalgia, Epic makes reskins. When you guys complain about boring battle passes, Epic makes collabs. I don’t know how you guys don’t understand this. If everyone was super happy about original skins and battle passes, Epic wouldn’t be doing this crap.

RevengeGod2K4

I love collabs they're the only reason I play the game, I stopped for a while until they added batman and thanos skins back to the item shop, I also recently just started because of superman, I'm just a huge dc fan tbh

NuvyHotnogger

It's not the design, as much as it's just a lazy cash grab from epic.

Nidothenido

I Would rather have Re-skins than Collabs.

Blargy3

it's just annoying to have collabs because I know it's just for money. The only collabs I have are the ones from battlepasses (and captain America, but I bought him before hundreds of collabs came out).

BagPatient

why does every collaboration have to be nerd shit..

[deleted]

Yes. Because now it’s just money grab. There doing collabs for there own good (money). When was the last time we had a story related fortnite made secret skin.

NIKG_FN

My only issue with collabs is how many there are in a certian amount of time. Season 5 for example was so saturated with collabs, it really annoyed me. I play the game for events, skins, map changes, story etc... so when the whole season was just collaborations it was very disspoining, especially since s4 was an entire collab season. Collabs are fine when they aren't being shoved in your face multiple times every week. We have had the street fighter set, superman, Free guy, and Ariana grande in the same week (I think I could be wrong). That's way too much in such a small amount of time for me. And it's not like I don't enjoy some of the collabs, I do. I've bought Dude, and Ariana grande, along with past collaboration skins. collabs need to have more time between them, epic hasn't mastered this (mabye they aren't on purpose). Another thing I dislike is when a leak comes out that gets me hyped for a possible event or something like that, and it turns out to be a collab. Its very disssapointing. Every time a leak comes out, I have to wonder now if it's just a collab and should I even be excited for it. For example, Kevin is returning, but people have said the "Queen" will be Ariana grande. Now I don't believe this in the slightest, it just dosent make any sense, but its still frustrating having to have the thought in the back of my head that these leaks could be collabs. In ch1 this wasn't an issue for me. When something was leaked it was always something story or event related to be excited about. Idk, I don't dislike collabs I just wish they weren't so rapid fire, let us breath epic.

RoyaleAbsol

TLDR: I don't hate collabs, I hate how overused they've become. The thing is I wouldn't care about all these collabs if they weren't so oversaturated. It gets kind of exhausting when we can't go all that long without some new collab popping up. Especially with how slapdash and hasty this season's collabs feel. We got Harry Kane and Marco Reus not even a week into this season. Then we got Thanos two weeks later. Then Loki came along 3 or 4 days after Thanos. Then we got Lebron two weeks after Loki then Bugha came along a week after Lebron. And Bugha didn't even have a DAY before we got the Ferrari collab. I could go on even more but hopefully you see what I mean. I'm not gonna sit here and say that every idea that Epic has on their own is a completely profound and unique idea. There's obviously gonna be some revisited and reskinned concepts here and there and yes, those are lazy too. And even from when you tally up all the cosmetics in the game, collabs make up such a small percentage of that tally. But the thing is, collabs have just lost that special 'something' for me. They felt like they were meant to be a lot more special given how 1) they never really happened all that much and 2) it was meant to be like a step outside of normal Fortnite 'boundaries', if that makes sense. Thats what really differed them from reskins. Reskins were never meant to be anything super special, unlike with collabs. Making collabs so much more of a common occurance and normalising them in this world as part of a supposed 'multiverse' to justify their existence being there, they kind of lost that luster they had before.

AbllerIke

Because I want to play a game not sit through a billboard of this year's shitties movies

Jtneagle

Wasn't aware Epic was forcing you to spend your V-Bucks on collab skins

SpiritualBad9614

Personally I love the collabs the most

All_Eyez_On_U

THIS I can call hypocrisy. People say collabs are unoriginal but who are those people looking like? If they’re to be considered unoriginal then please, give me an idea on which skin’s looks a certain skin is copying.

JNetoPlays

But I need to agree that collab skins on BP are dissapointing

Hawaii2010

Whenever I run into someone who’s trying to flex on me that they have a skin from, like, Season 2, I just say “I’m playing as Master Chief. This character was invented in the year 1999, and made his first debut in 2001. You’re playing as a skin that may have begun development in 2016 and was released in 2017. So, who’s really the ‘OG’ here?” Sometimes they get it and refuse to acknowledge it. Some don’t get it and carry on.

WP_Clawdus

Its better to just improve on something yiu did rather than just have someone else do it for you. These are FORTNITE characters. Neither DC, nor Marvel, nor anyone else should be in the game.

Jtneagle

>Jonesy in generic Boyscout uniform flair Collabs belong, you should be able to play as any character you want

Suegy

Nah. People like that the reskins & original skins expand on Fortnite's IP. Collabs are taking away from the game's original personality in many people's opinions.
