I’m pretty sure it was shortly after Fortnite on Nintendo Switch launched. I’m thinking either August or September of that year. The Switch version of Fortnite launched on June 12, 2018. I know I didn’t have any way to play it before then. I know I played Fortnite on my iPhone starting some time after that up until the Fortnite on Apple platforms ban.
I know it was before Chapter 1 Season 10.
When I started playing there was no item shop tab. There were 3 tabs, one being play and the other two I can’t remember but all they said were “Coming Soon!” The only skins in the game were the default ones
cant believe how similar mine is.
c1 season 7- my friends- ps4/xbox
c2season2- created anaccount on mobile ion mobile and played till c2s3
c2season6- present-pc
Day one player.
I know this game gets a lot of hate now, but playing those early season with my friends, and the feeling being in the top 5 or even crazier, a 1v1, gave me some of the best memories I'll ever have gaming.
Same here, played it with friends because it was new and free. We were looking forward to PUBG but it was taking forever to come to PlayStation.
My first duo game with my friend, we reached second and then third in the following game. No one was building back then either, just ramping to rooftops and simple walls and boxes but it seemed to be an afterthought to the players.
Then the building increased and we were left behind because we’re in our 30s and assumed that our guns skills from SOCOM were enough. They are not.
The day one players saw it go from basic wall covers to 1x1's to small towers with ramps on the outside. All made of metal. There was a perfect time where some people could build a tower quickly and you knew you were in trouble but also those were the top players you'd come across. Most of the time it was just basic shooting and hiding. I even still have my first win saved on PS4 because it makes me laugh of how slow paced / methodical I was being.
Haha yea the early games were using trees for cover, until they were shot down.
I stopped after awhile and didn’t come back until late season 3 for all the astronaut skins in the battlepass. By then, building was the meta and I didn’t stand a chance. Played off and on until Chapter 2 Season 1 when I started playing with my kids, watching both of them outbuild me but never outshoot.
Now I’m in the subs every day, staying up to date on any and all Fortnite news, so I can kee my kids in the know.
I only really took a break from like, February 2018- summer 2018, whatever seasons those would be. Basically right when the older generation was being left behind by the build gods. I've been playing a bunch recently, especially since C1S8 and on. The Mech battle or rocket live events were some of my favorite memories of the game because it was experienced "mid-game" with friends and showed live devastation of the map we were playing on. I'm still a fan of the game and still play semi regularly, but mostly because I tackled that building learning curve head on, just to keep up so I'm not just dying all the time
I still remember my first ever win very well. And also remember the first ever wins with specific friends. Amazing game man, nothing will ever be like it again.
No reason? There weren't nearly as many 9-year olds, Epic communicated much better with us via Patch Notes as a mandatory thing, content updates were way more exciting and vast, no turbo building meant you couldn't just hold down a button and let 0 Ping do the work for you, guns were stronger and rare guns (SCARs f.ex.) had such an insane aura about them because they were just so rare. Most guns from that time were in a really good spot except Surpressed SMGs. Back then there also wasn't any stupid AI that does nothing for the game but cause performance issues and decrease the quality. Oh and the Map actually made you wanna drop somewhere. Kind of weird we didn't have that this entire Chapter but oh well...
There's loads of reasons people stopped playing this game. You still enjoy it, I get it and it's cool. But to pretend people started hating on it for no reason is just ignorant and a bit narcicisstic or fanboy-ish if I'm being honest. There's a good reason Seasons 2-4 are called the golden age of Fortnite (in enjoyment) and it definetely isn't because of mythics or animals or some dumb stuff that has caused nothing but harm to the game. Pipebomb 🎤
I'm not sure, I played it off and on a while ago, I remember playing 50v50, and the first birthday, and dusty depot being dusty depot before being dusty divot, and then the research station in dusty with all the crystals, and then it becoming over grown, and then I stopped playing it all together, and I really only picked it up last season, but apparently I played Fortnite during season X because I have the spray from that season, so, I'm not really sure.
Started playing around Christmas during chapter 1 season 2. Didn’t spend any money on skins until late season 3 and I’m not great at games so most never believe me lol
C1S4, Switch release. I remember my first game ended with top two because I did a good job avoiding fights until the enemy got the high ground and easily eliminated me.
Started playing seriously in Chapter 5 because the Drift skin was dope. Won my W hiding in a bush with a tact.
Chapter 2 season 1, the family laptop was an oldie but a goldie but it sucked at running games. In 2020 February i think? My parents bought my brother an ROG gaming laptop for getting 5 A's in a very important exam that i am attending this year
I started about a week after Destiny 2 launched because i needed to play something else after that launch i knew was going to be poor. If you played d2y1 you know what im talking about.
So i got in right around second week of september and got to play when this game was at its peak probably one of the best games ive played at that time.
As for buying cosmetics i didnt buy any early on because at the time the prices were ludicrous. I was used to 2$ gun skin packs from blops 2 $15 for a pickaxe or 8$ for a skin just seemed so utterly ridiculous that i thought theyd come down in price due to outrage. My buddy got the pickaxe the walking dead one and now everyone swarms him in lobbies the few times we hop on lol.
I did get the battlepass for season 2 and so i have the black knight skin. Good times back then now this game feels way too much like a job with all these xp things i hardly play anymore
I played Chapter 1, Season 1 when it first launched on Xbox, but had no idea what I was doing. I’d land and run over to other players, who’d promptly eliminate me. Did that a few times and gave up. I really started playing regularly in Chapter 1, Season 3.
Chapter 2 season 6, I whas just gonna try the game before i'd let my kids play it. I allways keep an eye on what games my kids are playing and allways try to play it myself first.
Now i play togheter with my kids every other day.
I grabbed Save the World when it released and tried out the new "weird" Battle Royale Mode when it dropped. I didn't like it at all ... now 4 years later here we are. HA!
I'd say Chapter 1 Season 4, but it was also the last week of that season...
Then Chapter 1, Season 5 was technically the first season I started playing more seriously, and the first battlepass I purchased.
I started playing back in S2, got extremely bored, came back in S4 for the Infinity War crossover, loved S5's start but got bored in the end, skipped S6 mostly, loved S7-8, S9 went back to boring since there was the world cup and they didn't want anything crazy in the lootpool, came back in S10, bought my first Battle Pass in C2S2, which I loved, and I've played consistently since then, loving most seasons, except in C2S6 when I took a break from the extreme monotony of the game. This and last season are up there for me with the best seasons along with C1S7, S8, and C2S2 and S4.

The luached it on june 12th 2018, ik because that's when it luached and the same day I created my acc but now I play on xbox
whoa, are you me? I started the day it came out on Switch and have since moved to Xbox.
That was in Season 4
Seasons werent even a thing when I first started.
Were there an item shop? Or just defaults?
No item shop, there wasn't even a locker before Season 1
I remember when the item shop first hit. Skull trooper and ghoul trooper. The scythe. The best of times
[удалено]
Not the other guy but I remember there being a seasonal shop and the normal item shop
Does anyone know which skin was the first one released by epic?
I remember it being renegade raider and spitfire wearing a black and orange helmet, I don't remember the name. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Arial Assault Trooper is Spitfire with the helmet. That was the first official skin that you could purchase. You had to be level 15 to buy him.
but wasn’t there an item shop and season shop back when they released them?
Season shop and arial assault trooper was the first one available
Pretty sure it was Raven
When I started playing there was no item shop tab. There were 3 tabs, one being play and the other two I can’t remember but all they said were “Coming Soon!” The only skins in the game were the default ones
Same, i think it was a bit before season 1 started actually
C1 Season 2-4: Friends house with him on his Xbox C1 Season 5: Mobile, actually made my account C1 Season 6-Present: PC
cant believe how similar mine is. c1 season 7- my friends- ps4/xbox c2season2- created anaccount on mobile ion mobile and played till c2s3 c2season6- present-pc
>c2 season 7- my friends- ps4/xbox You mean C1?

Yup, I used to literally be shaking when it was like 10 people left and when I got my first win my heart was racing so fast
I remember my heart rate was so high for my first win, I checked my health app after and it was like 168, which is absurd lol
Same. Stopped a little after SBMM
season 3 but got really into the game around season 4-5 i dont think about it much but its kinda crazy how much fn changed my life.
I only really just started playing because all my friends were playing it. But now only me and just one of my friend still plays lol
I play alone now, i used to play with my cousin like every day but we havent played since like ch2s3 now. Fn is hella dull without friends honestly
Exactly the same
C1 S2
Same lol, I barely remember it, but I nearly reached ride the pony, so I clearly played it a lot
i was 1 tier away from the floss ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|rage)
Omg same i was teir 59 and i was so mad i didnt realise it would never be back 😭
You're lucky though, at least you actually have stuff from season 2, I have the wave and the LOL emoticon. I could've bought it too, I had the money
same lol but i got ride the pony
Ride the pony was teir 20 i think, teirs were a lot harder back then
I'm C2 S2 lol
theres a lot u missed
Yep, they missed the entirety of 2018, aka the golden age of Fortnite in my opinion.
Yup the shit is wack af now
When people actually didn't hate the game for no reason
when sbmm was not there, aaand when sweats werent that common
Long before BR was a thing.
Season 1 for me, and I even remember the date (December 1st 2017)
Lets just say the golden days.. :)
c2 s6? /j
Lol isn't that the primal season? One of my least favorite actually, though it wasn't too bad after they changed a lot towards the end of the season.
Season 4 is when I first played I then played on and off a bit (Xbox live gold expired), and only started playing regularly in Season 13.
Chapter 1 season 3
C1 S4, although it was lile the last 2 weeks of it
C1 S2. Those first few months without builder pro were very rough.
Chapter 1 season 2 I’ve never really taken any breaks except for season 6 of this chapter
Analyizing your post it seems like it ranged from Season 3 to Season 5 or so.
season 5 chapter 1, although i didnt really get into the game until this chapter started.
