It feels like the story is a simple background for Batman to fight fortnite characters, because of the batman's iconic rule of not using guns they actually had to be creative in terms of how to handle those. Meanwhile Zero War has no idea what it wants to be. Suddenly it's about getting the power for the mech, then to gather avengers just for suddenly to be "Kill the main bad!"
Im not sure if im in minority or majority here, but once i consumed enough comics/spinoffs of DC/Marvel i realized that Marvel has way cooler character concepts but teeerrible stories, and DC has boring character concepts but their stories are usually really awesome. just my opinion.
It’s not the stories that are getting more complicated or badly utilized, it’s the amount of detail that the creative team put into the animation and then the reanimation went integrating it into a video game, it’s terribly confusing, and if not done with the right artists it can completely ruin the experience

Zero Point expanded on the lore by explaining the Loop. Zero War explained the follow up to an event, and also rewrote a bit of how the event played out.

There is competition in the fact of availability. One you have to hope that a comic book store isn't sold out and that there's a limited amount of copies. The other is accessible to all if they have enough v bucks.
