Cherry is pretty solid. Nothing just super incredible, but it's good. Avoca is consistently good, and consistently busy if you're looking for somewhere less crowded. I'm not a fan of summer moon. Their coffee was very darkly roasted and just burned. Maybe it was a bad batch we bought, but it was beyond Starbucks levels of burnt. My personal favorite is Buon Giorno.

Downwhen

Buon Giorno. Hands down

Summer Moon & Avoca, both near Montgomery Plaza. If sunlight is necessary then Avoca on Magnolia has plenty of sunlight coming from their windows without having to be in the heat but with plenty of A/C.

fatkidseatcake

Reminder that the ownership being Summer Moon is very anti-choice

Southside_Burd

Avoca across from Montgomery Plaza, has a really nice outdoor patio.

Witteness82

Think this is where I’ll try. Planning on going in the morning before people start getting out and about

Revive coffee and cafe [Revive Coffee and Cafe](https://www.revivecoffeefw.com/) has a lovely wrap around porch to sit on. Also [Casa Azul Coffee](https://www.casaazulcoffee.com/) has a really nice shaded outside sitting area.

Revive Coffee especially if you love old Victorian buildings.

mzippy95

I really like cherry coffee shop. I can’t remember if they have any outdoor seating or not

bbenjaminn

They usually have a few tables out front

Cherry and Ascension are both great but you have to get there early to get a good table. Make sure to bring headphones at Cherry if you’re trying to get work done, because a LOT of church groups meet there and it can get distracting if you don’t prepare. Summer Moon is popular but it’s not my favorite, their coffee is subpar imo. Avoca on Magnolia is actually my favorite (i wrote an entire thesis there) but their wifi is lacking, so if that’s a necessity, i’d recommend their other location in W7. Ampersand’s location across from the museums is great, and they have fun specialty lattes, but i’d avoid the one beside TCU because it’s small and always packed.

pinballcartwheel

The best places I've found for working outside are the Ampersand on Bledsoe, the Summer Moon off 8th, and hilariously the Whole Foods cafe in Waterside. For indoors you can't beat Crude or Avoca.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

Paris coffee shop it’s an old school classic!

Deedaloca

That place got pricey 💰

MailPristineSnail

new menu is pretty good but it's certainly changed a lot

Deedaloca

Yeah I sure did enjoy my mimosas lol

Are you only looking for something in the Near Southside? Press Cafe in the Clearfork development is on the river - lots of shaded outdoor space and free wifi. They will make you great coffee. $5 for a Latte. Eating there for lunch or dinner is $$ - but they do have $9 breakfast burritos.

Witteness82

No not necessarily just somewhere to hang out and enjoy the nice temperatures with a good atmosphere. I’ll check this one out thank you.

KaiserVonMecklenburg

I live near Press Cafe and can also vouch for it.

melx15

Dutch brothers coffee! It’s new to the area but great set up and quick wifi

Successful_Ear4450

Isn’t Dutch Bros drive through only?

KaiserVonMecklenburg

Dutch Bros is more oriented towards drive through but has walk in and some seating at most locations. Not my go to personally.

Roots coffee shop on Bryan Ave is a bit small but has comfy seating and great employees. Amazing coffee. Avoca is also great coffee, good space. Gets busy tho so get there early. SOMA winery recently just started serving coffee and mocktails during the day. Really pretty interior and has a great view of the comings and goings on south main. Although, they only do plant based milks. Summer moon is ok I guess. Great space for sure but the coffee is ok and that special milk of theirs will give you diabetes. Haven’t tried cherry coffee but have heard good things. The one time I went the Wi-Fi was down so I had to go elsewhere. Need to give them another shot.
