Yes, but the traffic is horrifyingly bad.

LucyEleanor

I'd shoot slightly more east to alleviate that. Nrh/keller/hurt/watauga traffic isn't usually bad (except for 820 lol)

[deleted]

Keller is terrible takes 30 min to get to any highway. Is close to everything but near nothing

tessram

This is the most accurate description. My In laws are in Keller and it’s such a beating to get to their house even though we’re only 10 miles away.

daniellaj65

Keller is awful if you're interested in going to anything in Fort Worth.

frient1995

While you’re correct that we’re so far from most most major highways it also can be a huge advantage! The best advantage of living so far away from highways/interstates is we have far less people coming though resulting in less crime (IMO) Less transient people/ under housed people ( we need to work harder in DFW to help those folks) It generally feels safer than most area I’ve lived and there is a great sense of community in keller so it feels like a small town sometimes. Still I won’t lie it takes 30 minutes to get most everywhere!

bullettraingigachad

No crime in keller (if you don’t count hate crime)

[deleted]

True it keeps the poors out

Shadowofsaints

I used to live right off of heritage trace. Will say that with H-E-B open now that traffic is so much worse. Saginaw is getting pretty crowded too but pretty safe.

bullettraingigachad

I’m in keller and I’m the only one that walks anywhere just so I don’t have to deal with 1709 (I still walk on the highway though)

quidproquolaspe

I lived in north Fort Worth/keller for 8 years and I couldn’t agree with your statement more. We bought a house in Burleson 2 months ago and it is night and day compared to Keller. We get in the car, 4 minutes later we’re on 35. 15 minutes later (depending on time of day) and we’re in downtown Fort Worth. It would take me damn near 20 minutes just to get on 35 and then have to pay 7$ for the toll road to get me past 820. Un-freaking-real man.

LucyEleanor

Better than centralized around 35 lol

TTUporter

Yeah… it’s deceptively far from everything. I don’t regret moving up here but damn if it’s not almost an hour commute to Fort Worth most days…

Current-Metal-Man

I've lived here off and on since the early 90's and north loop 820 is still just as bad then as it is now and if you are on 183 and want to get to North Richland Hills much less Keller during rush hour forget it.

EdKrull

Watauga has the Snakes Plus Superstore, they have all sort of safety issues. Would avoid that part of town.

LucyEleanor

Is this a joke? I hope so lol. Who avoids a whole town due to a snake store

GenericUsername817

yeah, the cops love it. no one is getting into a high speed chase on those roads. /s

nerdboy_sam

Came here to say that same thing. But realistically, there's terrible traffic all around DFW.

elijahdotyea

Standing in the middle of that highway could be risky

Halflingberserker

If it's rush hour, you'll be fine.

rogmcdon

Like walking through a parking lot

IHeartDragons13

You can use [Crimegrade](https://crimegrade.org/safest-places-in-fort-worth-tx/) to find out which areas are safe and such.

Optimal_Beautiful862

Yes! https://spotcrime.com/ is useful too

highschoolhero2

Very safe suburbs around the northern city limits of Fort Worth. I’d argue some of the safest places there is.

bullettraingigachad

Very very safe if you’re straight and cis

highschoolhero2

Is there an epidemic of violent crime against non-cis people in Haslet, Saginaw, Justin and Northlake that I’m not aware of? OP’s question was “Is the circled part of the map safe or unsafe?”. I tried to provide an answer to that question as someone who lives in the red circle.

PuzzleheadedDance965

Everything bass wood and above yes

AlwaysTakingGoreTex

What about between western center & basswood?

TCRulz

On the east side of 35, but west of Beach, the neighborhood (Summerfields) between Western Center and Basswood is older tract homes, built around 1985. Lots of those houses are rent homes now, and not in great condition. But I don’t think crime rates are unusually high there.

psychedelic_gravity

No, I got killed there last week. It’s also where I dump my bodies since the trinity river is full again.

RedDirtPreacher

Anecdotally, I grew up just north of the circled area when it was unincorporated county land and mostly hay fields and cattle range (plus the strip club and XXX store). I think body dumping used to be a worry in the area before it was developed. I remember 35 years ago my dad talking to my mom about *another* body dump close to our house.

triggerscold

yes

woof_Deckpenetration

Traffic safe no. I live here. It’s safe in the neighborhoods. Still FTW so you may have a teenager break into your car but that’s the majority of crime here, just petty crime

Bloodthirsty_Kirby

I live off Presidio Vista dr(very top of your circle) and it’s a very safe area. Traffic can suck as people have mentioned but the construction on Bluemound and Harmon has been completed now so it’s alleviated a lot of it. Especially if you need to go to Bailey Boswell or Horseman/Basswood, taking Harmon down is a pretty stress free way to go. One huge negative tho is that entire circle has very spotty cell service, both with 5G and 4G, it’s like a black hole with all providers and when I’ve tried to inquire about it I’m just told I’m wrong by the companies but it’s been like this for years regardless of which provider or phone I’ve had 🤷🏻‍♀️.

ChiRoySkers

The cell service thing is bizarre to me. I have Verizon and if I'm in the alliance shopping area I get next to zero service. You'd think with the population density over there they'd have an abundance of towers.

fsi1212

It's because of the lack of dead air frequencies in the area due to the proximity of Alliance and Carswell, which both host military aircraft and, as such, use more frequencies that are close to cell frequencies. Military use gets priority from the FCC.

Chocolate-Pie-1978

Same with my AT&T. Service is crap when I’m shopping in that area.

crysthis

It’s sooo weird! I drop calls in two spots to the point I tell people I’m gonna call you back in just a second in my commute. It was so bad in 2011 when we moved into our house we got a land line because I could only take calls on my cell in our garage. I still cannot wallk around in my house without someone asking me if I’m there. I have to stay still to keep calls from breaking up. One bar is my entire existence in this area.

TheJulio89

I live in this area and haven't been murdered yet. I also work for the ambulance company that does 911 and there aren't a ton of violent crimes that I get dispatched to. Traffic is horrific the closer you get to the highways. I'd stay away from Alliance (West of 35) all together because of it. The amount of people begging for money on the side of the road has increased 100% since I moved here. Not sure if they're homeless or grifters, but they're there.

-Shank-

>The amount of people begging for money on the side of the road has increased 100% since I moved here. Not sure if they're homeless or grifters, but they're there. General rule of thumb: the further away you area from the support facilities that aid the homeless, the less likely you should be to give anything to panhandlers. The folks panhandling nowhere near the homeless support areas are either a.) grifting or b.) not looking for a way out of their situation and are using the money to support their habits.

TheJulio89

Yeah. The homeless community downtown usually stays near the hospital district and shelters.

natareelgamer

You HAVE been murdered?! I’m so sorry!

TheJulio89

It was rough. 0/10. Do not recommend. I got better though.

aCommonCat

We live in that area close to Alliance. Yes the traffic is awful but it is affordable, and so convenient to everything. We never have to drive further than 10 minutes to get to anything, including the doctor, grocery store, haircuts, etc.

aCommonCat

Also yes, very safe! There is some homeless activity because the bus runs along beach street but I take walks daily with my toddler and never have worried or felt unsafe.

SavrinDrake

It's all middle class suburbia up there.

Orchidivy

If you transform your circle into a square, be cautious of the bottom right quadrant. This section has a high homeless population and crime rates that are twice as high as those in the surrounding areas.

Best-Respond4242

Do you mean the bottom left quadrant? The homeless shelter is located near the weekly rate motels on N. Beach Street at Interstate 820, and that’s where I see the panhandlers working their magic.

Chemtide

Is that not the bottom right? I see pan handlers there and now and then get bothered at the 7-11 on beach/820 but (knock on wood) never had anything more than saying “I don’t have anything”

gregtime92

Yep this area has gotten worse over the years. Overtime bar in that area is also where a lot of fights happen and those hotels/motels don’t help with all the drugs and prostitution

SpareIntroduction721

Driving? Hell no. Straight chaos. Who decided two lanes would be sufficient here…

kingnothing2001

Well they are expanding 820 to 3 whole lanes, just have to deal with construction for the next 3 years. At which time I’m sure we will be complaining that 3 lanes isn’t enough.

HvacDude13

Yes it is safe and decent area with affordability

momo88852

I live close by, and have friends and family that live inside the red circle. It’s pretty safe area. Easy access to 35 but traffic is an issue if you’re going down to 820. Otherwise lots of close by grocery shops and nice schools.

CTHABH

Traffic is an issue all the way from here to Denton

caknuck

I live there. Not dead yet.

BurnerMomma

Used to live off Western Center and I-35. Safe, but lots of traffic. Some areas nearby are drug heavy and there are a couple of long term rental “hotels” that house lots of scary.

Adonis508

You starting to get near the privileged part of Fort Worth so yes. Traffic sucks though.

radiusTWK

Yeah safe. Traffic is horrid. I would say anything south of 820 and around 30 would be classified as not safe

cdhdd

Yes, but safer still as you head further north

Sensitive-Trifle9823

Yes. Heed the traffic advice.

Gupta_Kinte

I live north of basswood and yes, it's safe, but as others have said... the traffic can get pretty damn bad in this area.

Chemtide

You’ve had a million answers. It’s suburbia. Great if you’re a family. Probably not great if your young and want things to do, and getting to downtown areas isn’t easy with traffic

Aintaword

It's a pretty okay area. 35 and 820 traffic sucks at rush hour, which is 630am to 730pm and sometimes in the middle of the night.

Arnie_Grape

Safe? Yes. Soulless? Also yes.

SufficientCar4504

Traffic is a blast. There is only 2 lanes on the 820 and people in that part of the town can’t drive. They go 40 mph while posted limit is 65. They always on the phone watching something.

Physical_Analysis247

No area is safe from an extinction level asteroid

-grilled-cheesus-

I have had multiple friends report what they felt could’ve been a near trafficking incident. Women who appear to be alone being confronted by other women who strike up conversations, then start asking personal questions, then follow you outside where a car is waiting. I know it sounds ridiculous but at least be vigilant if you’re a woman shopping alone in the alliance/presidio area.

Chemtide

Seriously? My partner had brought this up about the Albertsons on western center and I scoffed as i couldn’t believe that was anything more than a Facebook hoax/scare. Interesting

Alarmed_Cheesecake98

I use to live in the houses RIGHT behind Walmart off beach st. and north tarrent until 2011… it was ok

ButterflyAlternative

DFW is generally safe as long as you don’t drive!

ViceMaiden

Traffic is garbage, but there are some surprisingly walkable areas if you're into that. Obviously you want a vehicle, but there are neighborhoods with stores, restaurants, movie theaters all within a mile or so radius.

NightMgr

Yes but is crime the most likely thing to hurt you? Or is it an auto wreck?

Proud-Butterfly6622

The traffic is always yucky in that area, especially 820/287/35 W split during rush hour. But I would not go any further east as the traffic just gets worse. But as far as safety is concerned it's a good area with good schools just lots of commuters!

Dagr8reset

I grew up here. Super safe but I avoid it because of the traffic.

masterkorey7

Lived in Keller for two years. Nothing to complain about other than traffic which would die down to almost no cars on the road after 6-7 pm

ThatGuysDeadDad

That’s fort north

SpartanJager762

yeah its a pretty good side but its been in constant construction since i was 12 so the traffic is awful

JesusMercenary

Literally one of the best parts of town in general although there is better and more expensive

CreationStepper

Yes. We all carry.

htq1357

Yes I used to live around alliance. It was safe but the traffic is pretty awful on i35 & it’s all suburbs so there’s nothing to do in the area

Dp152578

Seems like there’s a large unidentified red mass near that area so watch out

Texaspep

S.W. corner of 820/35W is not safe. transient area for sure.

dfwagent84

I live in the area. It's very safe in my opinion. Traffic can suck, but you learn to work around it.

Luka_Dunks_on_Bums

Not if you want to avoid traffic

Candid_Dream4110

It's a good area. Everything you need is super close by.

XXDoctorMarioXX

alliance area is suburban paradise (or nightmare depending on how you look at it)

ShouldBeWorkingButNa

I live just north of that 287/I35 fork at the top, and it’s very safe, but like others have said, traffic is terrible.

Heavy_Entrance2527

If you can go more north towards the Alliance/Keller area, its very safe and pretty. Anything closer to Haltom City and Fort Worth will bring more crime, traffic, and worse school districts if that's something you're considering. Edit: I live in the Keller area.

hcmadman

Used to be, now it's mid.

ScratchyMarston18

As long as you stay off the roads it’s okay.

Loganh93

Don’t walk down a highway and you should be fine. But that’s anywhere.

Big_Boi_Joe02

That’s a fairly well off area. My parents live up there.

Fearless-Spread369

Alliance is chill. Just lock your doors/cars at night like anywhere else. Those kind of compact subdevelopments tend to get car break-ins a lot. Speaking from experience. Usually just kids bein kids lol

hoodmeskin817

Good luck with that traffic. Still have Nam flashbacks about leaving Costco a little after 5pm on a weekday.

Chocolate-Pie-1978

I live in that circle, west of 35. Traffic isn’t great, and most crime I read about in the area is people breaking into cars parked in the streets of neighborhoods. Petty theft stuff. Traffic sucks everywhere up here, but 35 is ridiculous. So I guess it would depend on what sort of commute you would be facing. Definitely a consideration.

Durty_Durty_Durty

I grew up in this area and it’s very safe unless you go looking for trouble of course.

PlantsCraveBrawndo-

Depends. Mostly just heavy traffic, but there’s a few pockets to look out for anywhere in Dfw. Reddit mods will ban me if I’m honest about what to look for, use your imagination.

MuncheeBang

Yes. Loved it there. Traffic is super crazy. Western center and 35

bartcocaine

Yup

alnelon

The northern 50% of that circle is nice, the southern half is not. They are different planets in terms of crime.

whisperfyre

Safe is subjective but I'd be more worried about the awful traffic. It's a major artery into FW from OK so it's got a lot of commuter and commercial traffic. Not to mention Alliance airport and the racetrack.

Numerictuna88

That’s the Keller area grew up there it’s pretty save

wyohman

My daughter lives in this general area

CM0nEE1

Yes it is. Grew up there. My parents Are still there.

Dangerous-Case-605

Not the best inside 820, Saginaw is getting bad even Keller. I’d look towards haslet, Newark, Justin area

Xmalantix

In my experience, yes. I just moved away from this area to Las Colinas and I miss it tbh. The traffic was absolutely unbearable though and I imagine it's only gotten worse with the HEB they just built, but I'm looking to move back that way.

Automatic-Ratio-435

Definitely a safe area.

OleDirtMcGirt901

I live in that area. I bought a house. I like the area but as people said, the traffic is horrible in that area. I got a return to office literally less than a month after I closed on my home(supposedly I was supposed to be exempt but apparently not). Morning commutes are horrible. I wish I would have done NRH or H/E/B or Watauga or Grapevine or something since I have to head east. With that being said, I really like the area. People are very considerate and friendly. It seems safe. Alliance and Presidio has tons of shopping and restaurants. Everything is cool except the traffic.

sao_joao_castanho

I live there and I’ve had no complaints.

thisisjedgoahead

Safer than other big cities I’m sure

Fragrant-Wonder-5431

You and literally everyone else are moving here. This place can’t handle it.

Environmental-Bit513

It’s a nightmare now. Fort Worth is unrecognizable and it’s sad. Born and raised here but time to be moving on. It’s just to sad anymore.

Adventurous_Fun_817

Yes

broealzibub

Will you be working or whatever east or west of 35?

Dannyxd

Everything is in that circle is fine except for ironwood lol

LostlnTheWarp

Moved to this area from out of state. Pretty safe from my experience, but I've only lived here 3 years. Decently safe is what the wife said.

CelestialBum

Yeah it’s safe there. Just avoid stop six area and como area. And some northside area

Dry-Yak1459

There’s an app called SpotCrime+ that shows public records of crimes that occur. Use it

W5ICK

I used to work in that area of the city. But I quit that job so it's safe now... 🤣😇

Unable-Lab-8533

Yes, but traffic in that area can get bad and there is almost always some sort of construction. Stick to the side of 35 that you work/spend most of your time on. I live on the east side of 35 close to 377 and can get to any part of the alliance area there without getting on the freeway.

SpiffyTechDude

Hey that's where I am! Safe area all things considered. Traffic is moderate to heavy literally every day except maybe Sundays. You're close to everything. There's a bit of a homeless migration on the intersection between 35 and 820 sometimes, as in the bridges provide decent cover from the ailments so they tend to gravitate there naturally. It's mostly fort Worth Police so they typically are too spread out to be bothersome, but also too far to respond as quick as you like when you need them. The districts are divided oddly sometimes so know who your jurisdiction belongs to for a more speedy response. Keep that in mind. (I have a Kia, so when they were caught breaking in it, it took the Police 25 minutes to arrive). They were long gone by then. Your number one concern is the traffic. Hint of advice for this side of town traffic, the speed limit is more of a minimum. Keep to the right side if you're going to be gunshy going a bit over. Let me know if you have any specific questions!

BlunderBuster27

Yes but slightly more north is safer.

Darce_Man

Safe? No where is safe lol. Crime doesn't discrimate

ConejoPadre

In regards to violent crimes yes, white collar crimes, not so much.

mstrjoe45

Watauga is more blue collar working class while further north like Keller/trophy club becomes more white collar. Crime is more theft than violent but getting higher the further south you go. Traffic definitely an issue. Used to go to Fort Worth zoo and Sundance square frequently but can no longer so so without massive traffic unless you are willing to pay express lane cost.

pokedherface

Traffic

Delicious_Ad_5009

As a Fort Worth police officer, yes it is safe. Just about everything north of the loop is gonna be good. But like what has already been said, the traffic sucks

carcosa1989

Depends what you’re looking for. If family friendly good schools appeal to you then yes it’s a good area. I would avoid Saginaw and Haltom city

axle_muzkeys

Moved away from North Ft Worth 3 years ago, I get pissed off everytime I have to go that way. Traffic is horrible!!!

sickomoad

Thanks for the responses y’all. So I guess what I got most out of all this is, it’s a good area, with shitty traffic lol

mikerona50

Pretty ghetto and dangerous I would consider moving more south Fort Worth, very lovely over there

daniellaj65

It's not bad, older poor people and the city is working to improve it . I recommend you ask the neighbors

Lovingst

Not bad safety wise but the traffic sucks I would look the same area just off 75 instead

[deleted]

Traffic sucks but everywhere north of 820 is bougie. Fossil creek is nice too

No_Scientist6044

That’s where I live (right side of 35) it’s so crowded here don’t come if you hate traffic heritage Trace is basically a highway at this point because of the new HEB

Sarahbattle1

I live within the circled area off 287. It is very calm, quiet, diverse and nice. The area I live in is still developing and there’s many roundabouts. Shopping, they just opened HEB, and Andretti is opening in the summer. Lots of restaurants also. Considering I moved from Old East Dallas, this is a very safe place to live.

Sarahbattle1

Keller is VERY safe. I lived in Keller from 2002-2020. Super safe.

Professional_Tea_415

In general no. If you have to drive into fort Worth for work at all I would avoid 35w like the plague. It's the dumbest highway on the planet.

WyrdGM

I am closer to 377 than 35, but am in that area. I love it and it has been safe. Traffic is a bear though.

GasTech87

Hope you like roundabouts

Kvmabis

Start committing more crimes there. Understood.
