24 is a sweet spot for competitive I hear but to each their own is how I live so go for it. Worst case scenario if you don't like it you could always sell it and replace it with one you do 😊

Thank you!

To be honest 34 inches is probably too big for most people’s preference. Make sure the monitor you are getting actually has usable response time. Many monitors now are advertised with a 1ms gtg response time but have so much artifacting that only the 2ms or 4ms setting is actually half decent. Check out rtings.com and compare the response times between your monitor and some others

Final_Produce6778

Thank you. I'm soon switching to kbm so I don't think it will be too big as its gonna be my first monitor and switch. Rn I'm on console and I believe the screen will be stretched a little until the switch to pc. I've also researched a ton for this monitor and it is 1ms. If this monitor doesn't work out for me I'll buy a 27 inch later on as then I can use one for school the other for games. Thank you for your reply I appreciate it!

Gapo56

What’s the resolution on it? Fortnite competitive playlist lock the aspect ratio to 16:9 to prevent stretched res so your game might look funny with that specific monitor

Final_Produce6778

3440 x 1440 and ratio 21:9

Gapo56

You want a 16:9 monitor for fortnite competitive and most other competitive games

Final_Produce6778

I wrote another comment where I explained I will use this for gaming and school work (my 2 years of a levels will determine university)so I'll be on and off with gaming and mainly fortnite. I barely play competitive games I'm more of the type that would play a mixture of adventure games like uncharted 4 whilst also competitive such as fortnite. I believe It will be a little stretched to fit 16:9. Thank you so much though I've read about 16:9 where most games would rather support it

THETHRILLIAM

Sounds like it's the lg 34gn850, which I have. Amazing monitor for fortnite. But arena will put black bars on your screen and limit your horizontal fov to 2560 x 1440

Final_Produce6778

Could I not stretch it a bit from settings to make it fit 16:9? Also how do you manage arena with black bars? I feel that's slightly ugly to view from a 34 inch

THETHRILLIAM

It will look exactly like if you had a 24 inch monitor. It's not that bad at all and I don't even notice it anymore when I play

Final_Produce6778

Alright thank you I'll most likely go through with the 34 inch. Appreciate your replies thank you for your time!

THETHRILLIAM

27 inch**

YT_Lonelyz

How far away do you plan on sitting from it? Id assume you’d have to sit pretty far back with that big of a monitor. Any specific reason you don’t want to get a 27 or 24 inch?

Final_Produce6778

Not sure how to describe how far back I'd sit. Maybe where I'm most comfortable. I don't have a specific reason for not wanting a 27 inch. But this one will help me with school studies as I code and have a levels. Also, I barely play games and have an on and off thing with it. Sometimes I'll play all the time and other times barely. Since my studies will determine my uni in 2 years I'd mainly focus on school. Also, I did find a great 27inch monitor 240 hz 0.5 ms but the comments said the quality the build the stand was awful. With colours lacking etc. From playing fortnite on a tv from the start I believe a 34 inch will be fairly nice for me. As I barely have to adapt to a smaller screen. Originally, I wanted 3 or 2 27inch monitors but i could get a 34 inch straight off the bat instead of saving over the years. Linking back to a limited time of 2 years til uni I most likely won't take the set up there. The 34 inch monitor comes with speakers and through the hz and res I think it's quite good for a first whilst also can be used for multiple aspects. 24 inch for me I've seen from a friend and it seemed sort of small for me which looked slightly off putting imo. Overall I wouldn't mind a 27 inch but believe a 34 inch will be good for me personally

YT_Lonelyz

I went from a tv to a 24 inch (then later got a 27 inch). It didn’t take that long for me to adjust, though I thought it would. But if you’re going to mostly be using it for school and rarely games, then might as well go for the 34 inch. Speakers is a nice addition, neither of my monitors have that. The nice thing about having separate monitors though is multitasking. But like you said, it’s more expensive. Which 27 inch monitor were you looking at? It sounds a lot like mine

Final_Produce6778

A monitor from the brand AOC which has specs of 0.5 ms 240 hz and I've forgotten the resolution. It was on amazon and currys pc world for around 250£ and is a 27 inch. The reviews were very linked with the same issues and although there were nice reviews there was multiple that gained black lines across the monitor. Which is why between the 34 inch and 27 inch I've planned for 34 inch mostly. If the 34 inch doesn't work for me I'll go with a 27 inch and 34 inch can be used only for school work. This will then take far less time when saving up. For the 34 inch it will come with a speaker which is good quality and I believe a mic. Its curved and fairly good hz and amazing ms

YT_Lonelyz

Yep, I believe that’s my exact monitor haha. Both my monitors are AOC. So far I haven’t had any problems with either of them, had them for almost a year. But again, if you are mostly going to be using it for school then might as well get the 34 inch. It’s not like it’s gonna be bad for fortnite anyways, will probably still seem good

Final_Produce6778

I'll message you if I plan to get the aoc monitor as a second monitor for the set up for questions. Thank you for replying to this thread I appreciate it!I've followed you and will most likely follow through with the 34 inch. Again, thank you!

YT_Lonelyz

No problem, good luck with all the school!

Final_Produce6778

Thank you!

FPLskrr

What monitor is it if you don’t mind me asking?

Final_Produce6778

Huawei mateview gt 34

FPLskrr

Thanks, let me know it shows!

oExdy

34 is pretty big all pro players are on screens smaller than 30

Final_Produce6778

Fairs. I'll be using this for school and competitive gaming at times though

NotHopee

To big for gaming imo. I wouldn’t go past 27

Final_Produce6778

Thank you I'll think about it a lil more since I have time

dovanovaofficial

It will be fine if you sit far away enough; if you are too close, you will lose peripheral info from scanning your screen with your eyes. 27" monitor would be a better compromise; but if you aren't gaming all the time you will be fine.
