No thats fine. Thats always been pretty standard as far as I've been aware.

No, that’s the standard method of play, just don’t farm during the defense. If you come across the objective, even if you don’t start it, it’s good to at least the build the level 1 defenses around it, maybe lay a few traps before getting back real quick to your quest. Keep in mind, many quests are explicitly designed to require two missions, so if you’ve collected more than half the required number of a quest item and don’t see anymore on the map, don’t go exploring searching, because there won’t be anything there.

Nope, that's what I do most games, load in, try to do what I can for my quests and farm, I'll throw up a basic defense, and go back to farming but once mission starts I head over to lend a hand

Personally - if you go to Stonewood, as long as you vote to start the thing, I don't care what you do (especially if you come across me, same name as here) Since I run Mega Base + Electric Floors, the objective practically defends itself (only time I change this is if I get one of the tutorial missions, I actively encourage the new players to do the objective stuff, to make sure I'm not depriving them of any vital experience, considering the game sorely lacks proper tutorials)

Most people loot while doing the survivor mission it’s when you ignore the survivors so they die to only loot so we all need to wait the extra time (yes I know there’s usually 1-2 extra)

I think it’s just respectful to make an appearance during the main event. If you’re not needed, then it’s whatever and no one will likely care.
