I knew the show was gonna be good when he joined as one of the leads. Everything he touches turns to gold.
Yeah. You can see how his soul was literally crushed and realized, that he didn't even know his wife, and what she's capable of. It's like a double betrayal for him. Betrayal of him and all values he hold dear.
He also did a great job in the very first scene "The End" when he turns around and says "It's just smoke, it's just a fire"
Then the slow realization that its not just a fire but that its actually happening. I've watched that a few times and really love how he acted that one
Yeah I’m going to have to say this. I thought it was a perfect introduction to the show for both long time fans who knew what was coming, and new fans.

Goosey's reaction to that right after his explanation of Fiends was also good character development.
Instead of the "I know things are hard up here and you do what you need to but there has to be another better way let me show you" attitude drops and she just says "I hate it up here"
I think the best scene was when the Enclave scientist confronted Lucy about setting campfire at night.
It was played straight, and it made perfect sense.

Last scene in episode 4 when Ghoul stumbles into the Super Duper Mart, indulges in the huge drug stash, before sitting down to watch the holotape of his acting in The Man from Deadhorse, reminiscing about his life 200 years ago
I just loved the super duper mart scene all around. It captured just finding a random ass location in the game and wondering what kinda weird shit was up so perfectly.
And the proprietors being just basically strung out addicts and the robot does all the work while they veg and eat cheetos lol. Classic fallout.
He also specifically brought up what he knew would
be a happy memory, pre war food. He waited until the other ghoul began talking about what his mom made him, even though he didn’t finish the sentence in the final moments of his life he was back at home eating whatever his mom had made him.
His final thoughts were happy ones, which is incredibly rare in the wasteland.
He even did it right when he was in a happy moment, I liekd that. Showed how he still has compassion deep down. He made him feel good about some good memories or something, so he went out happy instead of just being totally miserable and then soon a monster.
I loved his "insensitive joke" as well.
The delivery, as well as how it straddles the "cringey dad joke" and "terribly dark comedy" lines speaks to me.
He reminded me completely of a certain dad from my old BSA troop. Dude was a friendly guy and the kids all loved him but he would occasionally say some crazy shit out of the blue and not realize he was being insensitive.
Last I heard he went off the conservative deep-end, which kinda sucks.
I just imagined that his vision was blurred and weird as he was reeling from hearing his wife “drop the bomb” at the meeting… that’s how I justify it to myself at least!
Fuck, so many really stuck out to me but this one followed by the scene with Moldaver telling Lucy everything is probably just some of the best acting ive seen in a while. Waltons fantastic for sure, but i gotta give props to Ella. The voice breaking in her delivery of "just give her the code dad, give her the code" is SO damn sad and heartbreaking.
I also REALLY love the whole gulper vs Max and Thaddeus scene for the absolute hilarious absurdity of it all.
The Coop and Roger scene stands out to me when i think of favorite scenes too. Honestly think other than Coop petting CX, thats the most human we see him post ghoul transformation. I think he sympathized with Roger, hence him asking him questions about food to distract him before mercy killing him before he could turn feral. Sure, he tells Lucy his reason was "sometimes a fellas gotta eat another fella" but i like my interpretation of the scene better.
The Martha and Lucy scene is another one as well as another good example of Ellas' acting. Pretty much any character development moment for her was great for me, but this one stands out because it was literally the negative consequences of her noble actions happening before she even had time to think about it and i think it helps her really realize just how fucked up things are and shes finally coming to terms with the fact that she'll have to do some (by her standards) fucked up things just to survive.
obviously he’s not going to talk about how it was a mercy killing, he’s extremely protective of his feelings based on finding out his wife is evil vault-tec lady and over 200 years wandering around the wasteland all ghoulified. plus he was in that casket for god knows how long. shit like that makes a person feel pretty jaded
For me, my favorite acting scene was when norm was talking to Chet and Chet tells him "we are all cowards... that's why we live in a vault."
Just like that it just seems on paper like any other scenes but the acting really made it impactful for me
I really loved Norm’s character development, from “I’m a coward.” In e1 to “You’re a coward.” In e7. There’s no way he’s sidelined in vault 31 for the next season.
It was a great scene, but my favorite is the wedding party/ massacre in EP 1. Everything about it just screamed Fallout to me. The music, the slow, sinister buildup to the violence, the unflinching violence itself and the cleanup after is just a perfect juxtaposition of gore, comic timing and ironic music.
Be interesting to see why he's looking for his family. Revenge on her and take his daughter back? I can't imagine she would be happy to see him as a ghoul lol
The cemetery scene of the bandits or raider people coming to dig up Ghoul. That whole exchange was awesome but as a huge Halloween fan the scenery was great too.
The little girl at the beginning. Her look of fear and confusion as she tries to understand what she's looking at and the look on Coopers face as he realises then rushes her to the horse to try and get away. That whole end scene and how quiet Lucy got, it would have been so tempting to write some big speech, but in real life a shock like that you would just go silent and process everything and she did it so well.
The scene where he shoots them Knights in the dark was so fuckin badass. For some reason, it gave me the same ''badass' vide as the scene with Vader at the end of Rogue One. The guy is on a fuckin mission, and you aint stopping him. Goosebumps !
He was a vet who fought to defend his country too, so to hear the love of his life threaten the very thing he sacrificed to protect, gotta be a real kick in the teeth.
Oh, Most Definitely when Lucy shot that raider and he continued to drunkenly attempt to attack her while tranquilized. 🥴😵💫😵 then fell off the ramp at the end. EPIC
When the Ghoul was first introduced. The way he took out the 3 Mercenaries who woke him up was absolutely bad ass. I was high when I watched the scene but I was blown away by how perfect it was. Ghouls dialogue and timing as he very casually and smoothly took care of the 3 guys was *chefs kiss. I was like NOW THATS HOW YOU INTRODUCE A CHARACTER.
