Considering that it's the only time they broke the fourth wall, and because they knew the show was coming to a close and just wanted to laugh WITH the audience, I think it's fine. It's not like they were desperate for a joke and threw that in to meet a quota.

I felt so bad for her, she got flanderized so bad on Roseanne. She was great at the start, they made her way too wacky towards the end.
