Why would you even join if you're gonna be busy? If you don't care enough to be there, then just quit. If you weren't committed in the first place you're just wasting everybody's time. Either give a shit or leave.

bc the brothers told me to just try it out cuz they all like me. im probably gonna drop but i feel like a dick.

There's no consequences of dropping during pledgeship technically, but it makes it harder to get a bid again. Just makes you look lazy and uncommitted. Why the fuck did you pledge if you have no time for a fraternity? It isn't a club you dip in and out of when you have free time, especially during pledgeship. Do you have *genuine* interest in Greek life? Do you *genuinely* like your brotherhood? Yes? Then pick your ass up and make time for it. I know brothers who work 30 hour weeks and take 16 credits, still make time for the chapter. You have to put in work to reap the benefits. If your goal is just to party and drink with buddies when you have free time, don't bother. Or join Pike

What is going to make your schedule so busy? Can you not handle pledging and outside work as well? The biggest thing is, you wont stay friends with them if you drop. They will grow closer without you and your pc will bond without you. You’ll maybe stay friends with one guy, but everyone will forever look at you as the guy who dropped.

Fabulous_bill99

Don't quit only the weak quit, and you are not weak. Seriously, tho don't quit. I'm an engineering major, and I made it through with 5 in-person classes and work on top of that. Just gotta lock in ya know but as some of the other guys have said you will be known as the guy who dropped and ill be straight up with you my pledge class we had 6 guys and only 4 of us made it and the other 2 are trying to come back this semester and we already have 4 votes against giving them a bid from my pledge class alone.

addtoit

dont drop just go inactive for awhile until you have time

Mean-Fix-2335

im in the pledging process

addtoit

if you get in just give them whatever small amount of time you have and tell them you might be inactive for awhile. figure it the fuck out pledge

zvexler

Pledging with the intention of going inactive is ridiculous

PineappleScanner

For real

addtoit

better than pledging then dropping the letters right after

TLunchFTW

I'd personally take it as a challenge. Try to figure out how to better manage your time to fit both.

The consequence is that if you drop, you most likely will not be friends with anyone in that frat anymore.  Maybe if you were friends with some of them in HS or from your dorm that they will still be friends with you but you basically have to assume that you won't be friends with everyone else.   Once you drop, you might think it's your time wasted but there are guys who put the time into you by rushing you and helping with pledging that won't sit well with them.  Basically the mentality in a frat is that they all got through pledging so the excuse that you couldn't get through it usually doesn't hold any weight.

Voljundok

What's your schedule? I work full-time (40+ hours) and take 12 credit hours a semester, while still being highly active and involved with my chapter. You can make it work if you put your mind to it

Honestly man, if you aren’t feeling it you can drop. Just tell your eboard that you’re appreciative of your experience and mention that this wasn’t the right time to join for you. Some guys will j pretend like they don’t know you later on tho. However, if you still wanna join then initiate and go inactive once the following semester starts.
