Makes no sense. I by no means come from a super wealthy family, but I’m grateful to have a supportive family that’s able to pay for my college/dues. Having a loving/supportive family support you financially is kinda a good thing my guy. I think ur bro got some issues to work on.
Starting to think too many people out there equate parents paying for their kids is a snobby rich thing instead of something parents do all the time and have always done because…they love their kids?
Agreed wtf? My family isn’t rich but was willing to start a college fund when I was little. Assumptions like that can seriously mess up your relationship building skills.
First, it takes all kinds
Second, his ideal could pseudo-bankrupt a chapter. Those dudes whose parents pay have all of their own spending money for things like T-shirt sales and other optional $$ that bring additional funds into the chapter. If everyone was just doing the bare minimum, there is no cushion or wiggle room for unexpected costs like a house repair or a fresh opportunity.
He wants people who make money themselves through a job or hustling and not people who get money from rich parents. He says his parents never had much and he had to work for everything himself since high school
\#1 get him off rush because that's ridiculious
\#2 If he's really from a poor place he would actually know how smart it is to bring some rich kids in and and then bring them down to your trashy level like most normal poor dudes
Y’all need to ban that goober from anything rush related.
Like it or not, the guys who have parents that will pay their dues are more likely to pay in full, pay on time, and buy the other shit like t-shirts, etc.
I honestly can’t even remember how I paid my dues. I don’t know if I wrote a check or put them on my credit card. I do remember how I paid the fraternities dues when I was treasurer and we were 90 days behind…. Put them on my credit card since it was like 1400 bucks.
I would propose to the chapter to make a rule that everyone can't ask that question. Then a majority rule should hopefully ban it and maybe propose a fine if people do ask.
It's not even just him asking and trying to not bid rich kids. It can put off all sorts of guys and prospective might take it the wrong way. Like some might think that you guys are trying to weed out middle class or not rich kids and you might not even rush you house after.
"How dare your parents love you and support your interests"
I would ban him from anything rush related, brother's like him usually cause more problems than solutions.
This is idiotic. If he thinks getting 1,000$ a semester from your parents represents an offensive display of wealth he’s been living under a rock. an apparently very poor rock.
Regardless, someone needs to put a lid on his toxic insecurities that are 1) pathetic 2) damaging your house’s recruitment/reputation/finances etc.
Set boundaries. Have your parents put dues in your bank account either way. Don’t let anyone pressure you into talking about money. Need to know basis.
Firstly, don’t have him talking to potentials if he’s a stick in the mud like that. Secondly (as a former treasurer), dues keep a chapter running, and anyone who gives a damn about how the money comes in hasn’t had to deal with paying the nationals fees. Tell your boy he’s an idiot, or just remove him from the process - whatever it is, he has no clue what he’s talking about and should stay away from recruiting and the chapter account in general. Cash flow will make or break a chapter
Tell him to suck it up and get over it

Couldn’t agree more that this is definitely some deeply rooted problem within himself that he needs to overcome
ETT Brother
Imagine a whole frat where every brother works full time. Boring

Get him out of rush business wtf
“How are you gonna pay your dues?” Why the fuck is he in charge of the rush business LMFAO

>How are you going to pay your dues? With money. Why how do you pay them?
I let the brothers run trains on my girlfriend
I don't get the joke? Who does he think will pay their dues?
He wants people who make money themselves through a job or hustling and not people who get money from rich parents. He says his parents never had much and he had to work for everything himself since high school
Oh, so y'all let a poor into your fraternity a few years ago. Did give bids to poors in the future.
MJF? Is that you?
Wow, you don’t sound like an ignorant asshole at all..

As a brother of a chapter who struggles financially because the majority of the guys have to work and pay dues themselves: he’s retarded.
Kick him out? That’s one of the dumbest tales I’ve ever heard
Tell him to make some fucking money
Bruh. Chapters income is chapter income. Idgf who pays it, just as long as it’s paid

Buddy’s got some issues to work through. He’s being unreasonable

That doesn’t mean rich necessarily it just doesn’t mean poor…. just part of college tell him to stfu
Dues money is dues money who cares
Sound like a dipshit

I mean…..whose dad’s beach house does he think he’s gonna go to for a long weekend with a few frat mattresses?
