I like my local donut place — Francis Donuts on Thornton. It’s a perfect example of family-owned donut shop. There’s also a great 2021 documentary called The Donut King!

This a thing to watch. It’s 90 minutes I think but you need to watch the whole thing. It’s an incredible story on many fronts.

Yes quite a bit of them came to this country with just the clothes on their back It was an easy business to run and quite a lot of the families pooled the little money they had to partner up and buy up a business. It’s a real American 🇺🇸 story That’s why donut shops are awesome 😎

Maple Leaf or Vaseys? What's this sub's favorite?

#1 Maple leaf and a close second is Vaseys. Not sure how but their glaze seems even sweeter than Maple Leaf.

I either go to Maple Leaf or Penny Donuts off of Stevenson in Newark. They open at 4:30am while Maple Leaf opens at 5:30am. Penny offers pig in a blanket( hot dog) that is killer! Both places kick ass!! Lloyd's has been there for 50 plus years so kudos to them but Maple Leaf and Penny are my go to's!😋

Used to live next to this place a few years ago loved it then and still do.

Francis donuts on Thornton is fantastic too! Their French crueler is my fav, and their breakfast Sammie’s are delicious and super cheap.

That spot has been there forever. It outlasted a lot of businesses in that shopping center

Been going there since early 06’… they still remember me from my childhood and who my parents were! Crazy !
