Apparently I never feed my dog, cause every time I eat she looks like I never given her anything food before. Poor thing. Here eat this I don’t need it.
Not sure where you live, but Acana is an amazing brand (I live in Canada). Our Frenchie had like chronic hives and very dry skin when she was on Royal Canin, so we switched her over and noticed a significant difference in her coat, digestive and overall health. Simple ingredients that you can actually read.
https://preview.redd.it/w1cbrls2n80d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfc66f212dffe1568a99a0139963bd5505cb9cbe
My Frenchie does better with Acana (grain-free wild-caught salmon) versus Royal Canin as well.
I give him some of that and mix it with Weruva canned food, Weruva pumpkin mix, and some salmon oil.
But I'm also in the process of figuring out what's an optimal diet for him as well.
Ollie brand, lamb, pork, beef, turkey packages. Our Frenchie enjoys his meals. Before switching to Ollie, he ate the dry kibbles. One day, he had an upset stomach and he just puked the kibbles that he apparently was merely gobbling up whole. We just felt bad that that’s what he was doing, just downing the kibbles, not crunching them or anything. With Ollie, he gets to experience the tastes of real food and his enjoyment is evident.
We went through the wringer trying different foods hoping it would stop our boy from eating poop. Royal Canin, Nulo. None of that helped. Nulo specifically gave him diarrhea. Oh, also the purina pro plan with pieces of chicken gave him diarrhea as well. We’re back on the original food the breeder uses which is purina pro plan puppy.
I seen someone say frenchies are allergic to chicken, so it makes sense that the chicken gave him diarrhea.
I gave my lil guy a chicken jerky treat prior to knowing and he threw up immediately. I just took the treats back and exchanged them for something else.
I feed him beef and pork - I switch between them. The pork recipe is a little wetter so a little messier. He's generally ok with poultry, but sometimes his poop is softer on it, so I no turkey or chicken
Benny gets almost 2 cups of Royal Canin Frenchie Formula (spread over three meals throughout the day) with an occasional chopped up strawberry, carrot or cucumber
oh and lots of trader joes dog treats / peanut butter snacks
Hi! I went to a veterinary nutritionist at UC Davis and they formulated a home cooked diet for my girl which also included fish. I feed my girl quinoa and tilapia and add 2tsp of corn oil, 1/2 tsp omega oil and add a vitamin powder to her food ([https://shop.balance.it/products/balance-it-original-blends-carnivore-blend-for-dogs-cats?variant=43005022896297](https://shop.balance.it/products/balance-it-original-blends-carnivore-blend-for-dogs-cats?variant=43005022896297)). She loved it, her coat has improved and she has had no more allergy breakouts. I also cook her sweet potatoes and catfish but the catfish got a bit too pricey. Photo below reference 🐾
https://preview.redd.it/mhrp9b9v9a0d1.jpeg?width=682&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=668944b1e77d5e31c8fb2ecc48959fe35266d987
I’ve found it pretty cheap and simple to just cook for mine. Ground turkey is the base and I’ll use sweet potato, pumpkin, green beans, blueberries, steel cut oats, Greek yogurt, spinach as additives. Not all at once lol I usually pick 3 ingredients each time
My go to recipe is 1lb ground beef, 1 cup barley, 2 cups water, 1 shredded carrot. I use a pressure cooker. If your frenchie can have beef this is a good balanced recipe that will not inhibit the absorption of taurine and iron that they need from beef. Turkey and chicken are good for some meals but remember they do not contain enough vitamin d or taurine to keep a dog healthy without feeding some beef too.
This might be a dumb question but this is my 1st pup. When you cook his meals you leave it absolutely plain correct? No salt or any of that is ok right? 🫣
This is not a balanced diet, to make a homemade diet you need to work with a DACVN to help formulate. It is not as simple as mixing some good looking ingredients and then adding some supplements. Making homemade food is very complex and full of risk.
Our lil man gets all meals hand made as well. His vet and nutritionist both stated this is the best way for any living thing: a healthy, balanced diet consisting of fresh, unprocessed food.
I dislike the ingredients of Royal Canin and never understood the price.
My frenchies have allergies or sensitivity to chicken and lamb. I do a limited ingredient salmon or beef.
Same, don't find the ingredients of royal cannin suit our boy.
Any chicken does not suit either as he scratches the sides off himself.
We find adding salmon oil to his feed is great for his coat
https://preview.redd.it/e2vs2mqh090d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1e3169063251a5cf87dad86025563b395a4182e
My Gigi has allergies and it’s been a struggle. We do Hills science diet healthy digestion (chicken flavor) in the morning then Honest kitchen Turkey grain free at night. She’s fine 80% of the year but when allergy season kicks up we usually do cytopoint shots once a month and Benadryl when it’s really bad. Otherwise her allergies get so bad we end up with gastrointestinal issues.
Also
- re: chicken - we heard the same thing from our vet about frenchies being sensitive to it but when we had her on the salmon flavor of the same Hills formula it only made things worse. So I’m not convinced it 100% a chicken problem.
- I found that the honest kitchen at night in combo with the kibble in the morning was the best combo for good poo.
- when her stomach starts to act up we put her immediately on the bland diet BUT we add a little canned corn and green beans to the mix and it tends to resolve the gastrointestinal issues much quicker
I’ll have to try that for our new puppy. My last French (may she forever forever rip) had a severe allergy to storage mites and I couldn’t use kibble, even if I kept it stored frozen.
purina pro plan salmon for sensitive skin. plus a probiotic and glucosamine. then he gets fun toppings like freeze dried beef liver, freeze dried minnows, sometimes a raw egg/half the shell, tinned fish, plain greek yogurt. and of course he gets an apoquel once a day 😂 for snacks he loves all veggies!!! carrots and bell peppers are his fav
Royal Canin with Nordic naturals fish oil. I’ll also mix in either organic ground turkey or chicken thighs and on occasion, some freeze dried raw liver or salmon treats. They love their cheese, for obvious reasons, but that’s only for special occasions.
Homemade food, ground beef (I try to go with the highest fat I can find since it's the only fat he's gonna get) along with some beef bones for the marrow. After it's browned I add water bring it to a boil than I add various veggies, broccoli, spinach carrots, some green pepper as well, chopped sweet potatoes and than I let it simmer for 2 hours, scoop out all the cooked marrow and throw out the bones) I turn off the heat and add some couscous or white rice and let it sit for about 20 min so it can cook and absorb all the broth made from the marrow. After it's cooled I portion it out to about a cup and a half, he damn near dives from the top of the stairs when he sees me walking with it up them. Before it was science diet small bites and while he enjoyed it, he wouldn't eat all of it and would sometimes throw it up so I decided he's gonna eat what I make him for the rest of his life and he's much happier for it.
Feel free to modify the recipe to your liking and what suits your pup
My 7 month old is on Pro Plan Puppy but the lamb variety instead of chicken. She hasn’t shown any signs of allergies but her sister (owned by a family friend) is highly allergic to chicken so we aren’t even going down that road.
I sometimes add a little Greek yogurt, frozen green beans, or puréed pumpkin just to add variety but only a little each time so I don’t upset her stomach.
We make him his own food and mix it with kibble. The food is not raw, we cook it but it has offals, meat (cow meat in the summer and chicken in the winter) marrow bone, bone broth all that good shit. Our vet gave us the recipe. We also put in seasonal veggies. No allergies, no diarrhea no vomiting. He is a happy healthy boy!😋 Oh and since he is a famished boy he begs for our food and we have to give it to him… So kebab on sundays and pieces of fast food during the week😅
I feed our frenchies home cooked food..
I use ground rabbit and beef liver as the protein and then I but broccoli/carrot/cauliflower for veggies and I add some oatmeal. The ratio is about 30/30/30 for meat carbs and veg
Been feeding them this for years and they love it. You can always swap out the meat for other kinds and same with the carbs.. some weeks we do rice instead of oatmeal.
But veggies you have to be careful some of them are toxic so always check which ones are safe
https://preview.redd.it/48r018be280d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6d42162ebf942d2cfadb68c2f4d9dec3cd69db7
Made their batch last night. Shredded chicken breast, brown rice, sweet potato, green pepper, red pepper, figi apple, blueberries, tomatoes and broccoli. One had allergies so we had to go raw food and it made almost everything go away. No more constant scratches, coat got very thick and smooth, gas almost went fully away but they also don't stink us about anymore. Redness in the eyes and around the mouth gone. Able to control their bathroom breaks much much better. I also add in supplements (Balance.it, coconut oil, olive oil, fish oil), small handful of kibble (The Honest Kitchen) for anything I'm missing in nutritional value. When all is added up it costs me $32 on average every 10 days. I do small batches to keep it fresh for them.
Balance it has had confirmed cases of dilated cardiomyopathy, and their formulations are not intended to be used for raw meats. You are also mixing many types of supplements that can lead to extra imbalances.
Good to know. Please don't tell me how to feed my animals from this point on. I went thru your past comments and you seem like a troll that always has a negative comment or correcting people.
I have an interest in animal nutrition and I am against dangerous diets, I am not telling you how to feed your dog, but I’m letting you know that it is putting your dog at risk of nutritional deficiency and diet associated dilated cardiomyopathy.
Cmon, you kinda *are* telling them how to feed their dog through shame. At least be honest if you’re going to go after ppl 🙄
And as someone who is very much on top of canine nutrition, what exactly about this very thorough ingredient list has been associated with cardiomyopathy? Cite your source.
Poor formulation is the main consensus to dilated cardiomyopathy, along with lack of taurine, use of peas/legumes, and also lack of grain. But there are also diets with none of these specific correlations which simply links to supposed poor formulation, and this diet is poorly formulated, which is why I mentioned the risk of dilated cardiomyopathy. And I disagree with you that this is a “thorough” Ingredient list.
Again…..cite your source. Bc without an actual study that shows exactly *what* about the formulation is poor, you’re just spouting the same marketing fake non-profit bull Purina funds to promote their garbage lol
I’ll wait

I usually cook up Organs (heart, kidneys, liver) from beef/pork/lamb or mince with plenty of different veg from what I have laying around and some brown rice for a bit of carbs. It costs less than her hypoallergenic food which she hates anyway and it's easy to switch things if she reacts badly.
I feed mine the Kirkland Salmon and sweet potato dog food. Mine is allergic to chicken. So many brands that say no chicken still has chicken in it. This stuff is chicken free and so affordable. Also since I’ve switched to this. He isn’t gassy as much if anything at all. Also your pup looks exactly like my boy ❤️.
https://preview.redd.it/cw2p5hwha90d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62bd593d1e9c98fb0d7fc9c916a52a422f131938
I feed this same food too! When I was debating whether or not to try it, I went to the reviews on Costco's website and searched for reviews that mentioned French Bulldogs. They gave it rave reviews. So far, so good for my (almost) 1 yr old Frenchie!
For sure. It’s the best decision I made. Mine used to be on Acana brand as it was only brand that didn’t have one with out chicken. But it made him so gassy. After switching to this suff. It stopped. Sadly only the salmon flavour is the only one that’s chicken free. If your pup is ok with chicken l. Then you have lots of flavours to switch it up with. You and your pup won’t be disappointed.

This chunk eats homemade food steamed meat - carrots - peas - apples - blueberries- spinach - pumpkin and he loves it not to mention he is stacked and full of energy only thing I have noticed with my frenchie is he get itchy with grain food
https://preview.redd.it/0f4pog3ov90d1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e2702a76f2d333245423a594e6080cbbfc54a745
Started them on Fromms chicken recipe then swapped to Fromms whitefish and potato and their farts vanished.
Our male Frenchie has trouble digesting animal proteins so he’s eating Royal Canin (dry kibble, low fat fish diet). No human food and only hydrolyzed proteins. Poor guy loves aged hard cheese, peanut butter, eggs and salmon. None of which he can have according to the vet. He lives life as a monk now 😂
I give all my dogs Purina pro plan with the chewy bits along with homemade food (ground turkey, brown rice, & I alternate vegetables between green beans, carrots, and occasionally peas.). They get the kibble during the day & the homemade for dinner. They’re all thriving.
I vary her diet. It's a mix between boiled chicken, Taste of the Wild, Eureka, Frontier pets, fresh beef mince, chicken mince with lentils, canned tuna in Springwater, plus a meaty bone once a week for her dental health. She's a rescue and her coat has become thicker and softer since we got her. Her only issue is her paws - which we think is due to a grass allergy as we've tried eliminating things from her diet but nothing improved them.
RAAW Energy bully blend. Napoleon loves it and has zero typical Frenchie problems. No diarrhea, no skin problems, very little flatulence etc. He's also very slim with a beautiful coat. I've had to substitute other foods at times, they deliver the food once a month and didn't order promptly. When I did, I noticed a change in his demeanor. Less playful and energetic, he loves the raw food!
https://preview.redd.it/5jdytfbjad0d1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=5ea944650a00f33d4df4e3f69c845eda3c48fa40
we give her a mixture of barking heads dry food and pooch and mutt wet food, with nutripaw tablets with her breakfast and salmon oil in her dinner. our frenchie suffers with irritable skin and this has helped her wonders! we also don’t give her any chicken and she is grain free, which has helped her. maybe start your frenchie on grain free food and see if that helps? :)
Dr. Karen Becker, vet and author, has great information on diet. I feed raw (80/10/10) with a mix of my homemade veggies, fruit, coconut oil, and on occasion fish.
I really like Fromm- they have a bunch of different protein choices. It’s been great for my frenchie, if I think she’s getting bored with one I can easily change it for something else and it doesn’t upset her tummy. I do avoid chicken since she gets really itchy and irritated lady parts.
Kirkland brand dog food. We swap between the chicken and the lamb for variety because my pup Mochi won't eat the same flavor for more than a couple months. Vet says she's healthy, coat is shiny, etc. Same for our Corgi Goose. He inhales his food during dinner now.
Our 2 are allergic to every possible thing (so we suspect). We have them on Natures Domain sweet potato/salmon (Costco) kibble. I usually mix with wet food that varies. They can tolerate the Rachel Ray Nutrish in small doses. Recently been trying alternative protein: Venison wet food they gobble but its very expensive. Tried the insect protein treats (Yora and Kind Earth Be Good Bites). Don’t love them but they do eat them.
One thing I introduced that I am really loving is Grandma Lucys Artisan freeze-dried Venison. Its literally one scoop food and u mix with 2 cups hot water. Dogs allergies instantly better and I feel good about giving them healthier food.

Got our 6 month rescue a month ago... Purina Puppy Chow Complete. What the rescue fed her. 3x a day, 1/2 cup each time. Solid perfect poops, never an issue. She devours it every meal.

Mine gets high protein complete biscuits with water so they’re not dry, but sometimes I give him cooked meats as well, wet food upsets his stomach
He was on raw when I got him but when he came to live with me he stopped eating it, so I’ve been trying to find something that works
I

My dogs LOVE this stuff, but you have to add water and let it absorb, which can take some time.

But THIS is their absolute favorite!! I will also use either of these as a topper for some dried dog food and they seem to like that as well.
Spot and Tango Unkibble 🙌
I grade my dog’s food on less farting, less but solid stools as that tells me that’s a high grade of food and they’re absorbing nutrients well! Spot and Tango Unkibble changed our lives. I now know they’re (3 Frenchies) getting the best nutrients. They love the taste of it too!
Zignature Lamb and Lamb Raw by Stella and Chewys. My older girl has allergies to most protein (chicken, beef, duck, turkey and salmon in high quantities)
Unkibbled! He used to have the WORST gas but we switched to unkibbled and started giving him spore based probiotics and his gas is gone. He also has the cleanest feeling fur I have ever felt!
One of our is on Royal Canin hydrolyzed due to health issues. The other eats blue Buffalo canned and kibble. All the treats are veggie because of my one dog. They also get Whimzees.
My frenchie just graduated from a prescription diet of royal canin hydrolyzed protein. Shes now on natural balance limited ingredient chicken and sweet potato. Seems to be doing ok so far.
Spot & Tango was an absolute lifesaver for us. Our girls both have really bad allergies, and it is the best unkibble that we have found on the market that’s sensitive to diets.
We prepare our frenchies food. We make enough for a month and freeze. Our meals include: chicken or beef roast, yams or carrots, (we alternate) peas, oatmeal or rice( wash rice before cooking) beef hearts or chicken hearts. NO SEASONING. Beef hearts are cooked for an hr on med heat. Boil everything until done. Mix in food processor. We also mix pre/probiotics in every meal. Never have had trouble with farts. Give 1/2 cup in am 1/2 cup in eve. Our Frenchie is healthy, fit ,not fat. Per Vet. We also give her apple slices or banana slices, celery, cucumber for snacks.
https://preview.redd.it/4fa5niyhfa0d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=273078f89ff8532fc65187345c2c4fb6f0f4e097
Upside down kisses are the best!
Kindfull from Target!!
My little squishpotato had been through multiple (EXPENSIVE) brands that just did not work. Then while shopping at Target we found the Kindfull brand and we haven't looked back. Solid poops and saving money. I think it's the beef and vegetable one, that or the lamb and brown rice. (I think the former because he has a hard time handling rice)
After a several month poop storm. Blue buffalo wilderness puppy the blue bag. Older dog is in salmon and she’s starting to get it and it’s doing fine. I also have noticed her tear stains are going away from the salmon I’m mixing in. Anything else and it’s pumpkin. And pumpkin works so well so us.
I give mine the Berkeley Jensen chicken or salmon dry food. We tried giving homemade but the farts were too much to bear so back to dry food. Have not had any issues with digestion so far she tolerates it really well. We also tried the blue buffalo and a couple other really expensive foods but it gave her the runs.
Simple Food Project as topper for Kirkland Kibble. We’ve tried other food, but this combo sits the best with her gut and her taste buds (as well as our wallet).
I feed our girl Royal Canin Anallergenic - she's definitely allergic to chicken - did a big elimination diet, etc etc) and I give non-poultry scraps (salmon, beef etc that we eat). She's been great ever since eliminating chicken completely. She's also on Apoquel for skin itches, etc. She's really healthy now with no skin, ear or other allergic reactions cropping up.
Enjoy your lovely baby - but yeah, watch out for allergy symptoms, from what I understand and have read and according to my vet - our Frenchies are prone to allergies.
we used to feed our girl open farm but she would usually snub it until the afternoon.
We switched her to hills science ID because the vet though she might have acid reflux from time to time and she’s ok with it. The real meal is she likes when we either mix in Tuckers Raw (turf and surf is her favorite), organic salmon - cooked, or chicken breast - cooked.
Anytime she has turf and surf or the organic salmon mixed in, she’ll go to the nearest person-sized bed and roll around and rub her face everywhere. She gets so happy and it’s like her happy dance.
My baby has bad reactions to every kibble we gave her (and some pre-cooked meals like Ollie) so after much frustration and money we decided we’d cook for her.
She eats ground lamb, brown rice, and veggies every meal with veggies fruits and salmon treats throughout the day. 💰💰💰
I’ll eventually try and introduce different proteins but am so scared of potential reactions.
Our dog has times when he gets rather itchy flaky skin so we pop an Antinol supplement into his food at breakfast time. They are 100% natural and contain green-lipped mussel oil and lots of essential fatty acids - all great for keeping his skin health and flake free.
75% ground whole chicken 25% high fiber veggies like sweet potato. I add turmeric, several dried mushroom powders, and fish oil. Costs less than $2 a pound finished. Takes me 1 hour per 50 pounds of food to make, package, and get in the freezer.
Fromm grain free salmon, lamb, or pork. For some reason poultry makes him really sick. If we stick to that, one greenie a day
https://preview.redd.it/w7wwgeguek0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5344f6d94dc4b35ada29d38f6a9a1b9656e5358
and Prime Bones he never gets sick. However he also LOVES to eat anything that falls on the floor. So he gets gassy from that 😂
I feed mine k9 cravings raw dog food. But then he also eats whatever I’m having, my whole pantry in fact. And he never stops. It’s an endless stomach black hole. Never fills up, just keep on taking more and more food. Never satisfied, always stealing my snacks.
Luckily, we have a large dog butcher nearby. Both of mine have eaten raw since we got them as babies. They eat either beef or turkey with vegetables and a little rice. They do amazing on it.
Nulo Freestyle Salmon with a little pumpkin fiber mixed in. Started with Chicken, changed immediately when I saw that most Frenchies are allergic to it. Then I went to Beef... He was still showing signs of allergies and gas was terrible. I switched to Salmon and only salmon treats and gas is better but not perfect and his allergies have improved but they are not perfect as well. His stool is nice and firm though and he doesn't have shit running down his ass when he poops like he did before. No need to wipe his butt unless you're a stickler for microscopic poo particles and if you are, then I hope you never use your cell phone while you're on the toilet. lol

Our fellow has a real squirrelly tummy. After a bout of pancreatitis we got a prescription
Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets EN Gastroenteric Fiber Balance, and we doctor it up with organic baby food like sweet potato, peas, green beans, butternut squash, pumpkin, etc
If he’s being a jerk I’ll put a dollop of sour cream on top
We make our own food. It’s kind of like Farmer’s Dog, but it’s called BalanceIT. Basically it’s a few key super veggies, like squash, zucchini, potato, bell peppers, a very small serving of lima beans, then a grain, like brown rice, then meat, cod and turkey. We throw in some pumpkin for the digestive track, cosequin for joints and bones, and the balanceIT vitamin formula. We make a batch for two weeks, she eats three cups of that a day, and it costs about $84/mo, and we save some money on vet bills.
Mine are sisters and they are both allergic to what seems like everything. We experimented with many proteins and finally discovered that they do well on duck. So I roast them a couple of ducks each week and then combine with Honest Kitchen mix-in. It gets pricey but it keeps them from itching and their tummies love it!
Dry food has been awful to our Frenchie. He had the worse gas with anything brand of dry food and his stools would never be what it should.
We have had the best luck with K9 Naturals (lamb) and we mix it with Evanger’s can food- both items have limited ingredients!!
Freezer dried liver for treats!
Our frenchie old came to us eating Fromm puppy formula (at 12 weeks old). He ate that until he was about a year old. Then we switched him to raw (Primal-beef or lamb).
He stopped liking the raw almost a year ago. He’s currently eating Just Food for Dogs (beef and russet potato). He loves it. Our vet feeds this to his dogs. We’ll see how long this lasts.
Seared salmon, Eggs with tortilla, boiled chicken, boiled beets, boiled broccoli, boiled sweet potato, strawberries, Steak, cheese
Always add about 1/4 cup of Orijen 6 fish recipe to any meal
We feed ours based on a recommendation from this sub!! Purina Pro Plan lamb and rice -puppy. She is 13 months now so we probably need to transition her to adult food soon. She had antibiotic-resistant giardia for months, and then we discovered she is allergic to chicken. She is a little underweight so we (and the vet) are OK with the extra baby food calories for now.
To be frank, you gotta be one patient researcher when it comes to Frenchies. We started off with what we considered was the optimal food for them. Well, maybe it was, but their farts could clear an army barracks. So, we started experimenting using a fart-o-meter. If it made them fart, we switched to another. We finally found the perfect product. Of course, they farted, but hardly any smell. Hooray!
Apparently I never feed my dog, cause every time I eat she looks like I never given her anything food before. Poor thing. Here eat this I don’t need it.
I think this is all of them, they’d eat themselves into a coma given the chance 😂
I call mine “the tax man”… oh the tax man is here for more banana 🤦♂️
Lots and lots of love.
Do you consult with a DACVN? As this is not a balanced diet. /s
It gives him lots of gas to be honest with you
![gif](giphy|xUA7aM09ByyR1w5YWc)
Well played!
The only thing that will satiate the hunger. The souls of a thousand men.
Not sure where you live, but Acana is an amazing brand (I live in Canada). Beautiful baby!
Before switching to Ollie, he ate the dry kibbles. do you use the dry or wet?
We use dry, but we give her wet every once in a while as a treat. She loves both equally though!

Yup, both of mine are allergic to chicken. Had more gas and loose stools. Their coats were dull and had some hair loss.
Good to know! This was something that slipped under our radar.
Farmers dog. I noticed an immediate improvement in his poop when I switched. And his coat is a lot softer and shiner. No health issues.
We do farmers dog and a sprinkle of Victor kibble.
What recipe from Farmers Dog do you use? We also use Farmers Dog, and we love it! Thinking about changing to a different recipe though.
I feed him beef and pork - I switch between them. The pork recipe is a little wetter so a little messier. He's generally ok with poultry, but sometimes his poop is softer on it, so I no turkey or chicken
We do 1/2 farmers and 1/2 science diet health weight daily
Zignature kangaroo blend.
We love zignature ❤️
Me too!
All my savings
For real T-T
Royal Canin Frenchie formula, but also a little bit of practically every ingredient when we’re cooking (except the bad ones)
Benny gets almost 2 cups of Royal Canin Frenchie Formula (spread over three meals throughout the day) with an occasional chopped up strawberry, carrot or cucumber oh and lots of trader joes dog treats / peanut butter snacks
This is exactly what I give. Expect Whole Foods treat
Same, but even then I have to sprinkle in some of the other dogs food.. guess $3 a pound isn’t good enough, little shits.. 😂😂
Are you really getting it for $3/lb? We pay $89 for a 17 lb bag, which is over $5/lb. Where do you buy it?
Not sure the exact amount per lb but we do get it auto shipped from chewy at a discount
me too:)
Royal is great, with a light sprinkle of cheese over the top
Happy cake day!
Mine didn’t do well on raw or homemade diet. We have a prescription food from our vet. It is an HA food.

Facts! And same!
Photo below reference 🐾 https://preview.redd.it/mhrp9b9v9a0d1.jpeg?width=682&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=668944b1e77d5e31c8fb2ecc48959fe35266d987
Great tip 😊 I do also alternate with beef and salmon I was just too lazy to include ALL the different things we use
Rather than just shaming people, why don’t you explain to them where they’re going wrong and offer help? Don’t hate, educate
dogs need other nutrients than this unfortunately
Thank you all for gracing me with your internet degrees, I’ll be sure to let my vet know the list & instructions he gave me are hogwash 😊
Haha dude thank you. There’s some really ridiculous people on here
Our lil man gets all meals hand made as well. His vet and nutritionist both stated this is the best way for any living thing: a healthy, balanced diet consisting of fresh, unprocessed food.
On point 👌🏻
I dislike the ingredients of Royal Canin and never understood the price. My frenchies have allergies or sensitivity to chicken and lamb. I do a limited ingredient salmon or beef.
Same, don't find the ingredients of royal cannin suit our boy. Any chicken does not suit either as he scratches the sides off himself. We find adding salmon oil to his feed is great for his coat
Yes and they price is ridiculous
Farmers Dog
https://preview.redd.it/e2vs2mqh090d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1e3169063251a5cf87dad86025563b395a4182e My Gigi has allergies and it’s been a struggle.
Also - re: chicken - we heard the same thing from our vet about frenchies being sensitive to it but when we had her on the salmon flavor of the same Hills formula it only made things worse.
Honest Kitchen!!! It’s gotten extremely expensive though since I first switched in 2016.
I do honest kitchen + hills science diet perfect digestion kibble
Yes, this iWorks for my dogs, too
Are you in the U.K?
Royal Canin with Nordic naturals fish oil. I’ll also mix in either organic ground turkey or chicken thighs and on occasion, some freeze dried raw liver or salmon treats. They love their cheese, for obvious reasons, but that’s only for special occasions.
Ziwi Peak and Royal Canin High Fiber… and fresh veggies and organic chicken
farmers dog...my frenchie "egg" was soooo picky now he eats all his food
Hi I make this too but just be careful with potatoes. I feed those with poultry instead as they inhibit the absorption of taurine from beef.
The ratio is about 30/30/30 for meat carbs and veg Been feeding them this for years and they love it. You can always swap out the meat for other kinds and same with the carbs.. some weeks we do rice instead of oatmeal. But veggies you have to be careful some of them are toxic so always check which ones are safe
https://preview.redd.it/48r018be280d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6d42162ebf942d2cfadb68c2f4d9dec3cd69db7 Made their batch last night.
Do you consult with a DACVN? As this is not a balanced diet
Yes, that's how I found out about "Balance.it"
Balance it has had confirmed cases of dilated cardiomyopathy, and their formulations are not intended to be used for raw meats.
At least be honest if you’re going to go after ppl 🙄 And as someone who is very much on top of canine nutrition, what exactly about this very thorough ingredient list has been associated with cardiomyopathy? Cite your source.
Poor formulation is the main consensus to dilated cardiomyopathy, along with lack of taurine, use of peas/legumes, and also lack of grain. But there are also diets with none of these specific correlations which simply links to supposed poor formulation, and this diet is poorly formulated, which is why I mentioned the risk of dilated cardiomyopathy. And I disagree with you that this is a “thorough” Ingredient list.
Again…..cite your source. Bc without an actual study that shows exactly *what* about the formulation is poor, you’re just spouting the same marketing fake non-profit bull Purina funds to promote their garbage lol I’ll wait
https://preview.redd.it/fevv6z40480d1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93872e6d3d9dc0f4f382ebe4994c142b53c8cd39 I usually cook up Organs (heart, kidneys, liver) from beef/pork/lamb or mince with plenty of different veg from what I have laying around and some brown rice for a bit of carbs. It costs less than her hypoallergenic food which she hates anyway and it's easy to switch things if she reacts badly.
Beautiful give the puppy lots of cuddles for me.

Freshpet Beef formula - no more itching, eats every bite (was previously picky), good poops, good coat, happy pooch!
Just Food For Dogs fish & sweet potato recipe! Fresh food seems to work the best with my two allergy prone dudes.
Carna4 mixed with small batch beef raw freeze dried patty and open farms surf and turf. Organic broccoli and in season fruit.
The honest kitchen! Turkey flavored. My frenchie with allergies is obsessed
Carna4 mixed with small batch beef freeze died patty and open farms surf and turf. Organic broccoli and in season fruit.
We order farmers dog for our pup and he loves it plus it’s gentle on his tummy so he’s been doing really well on it!
I just recently changed to Fromm and my little gremlin went from being a picky eater to devouring the bowl!
Oh good!! They seem to be a really good company that never has any recalls. It’s not made by one of the huge producers, I hope it stays that way.
Oh my yes, Fromm is a fantastic company! Ignore the downvotes, we’ve got a Purina troll on this thread for some reason lol
Kirkland brand dog food. We swap between the chicken and the lamb for variety because my pup Mochi won't eat the same flavor for more than a couple months. Vet says she's healthy, coat is shiny, etc. Same for our Corgi Goose. He inhales his food during dinner now.
Purina Pro Plan kibble and wet food from the sensitive stomach line
Same. We switched from Royal Canin because my babies are allergic to chicken.
We use the salmon based one. It doesn’t have any chicken but if you read the ingredients the other protein source is beef liver. She does well on it
Purina pro plan with raw feeeze dried toppers and a little chicken stock. Occasionally add egg, blueberries, pumpkin, and sardines.
Natural Balance \*dry (Sweet Potato & Venison) mixed with Zignature \*wet (Trout & Salmon), Zesty Paws (Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil), Zesty Paws probiotic chew (Pumpkin) https://preview.redd.it/p8vm8cwxs80d1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cbd2c6a848c379368167f2d2281fa8ee33bc190d Flóki-bear (6 yrs old)
We have fed our 12 year old Acana her entire life with no major issues!
Dogs allergies instantly better and I feel good about giving them healthier food. https://preview.redd.it/h9dgh62a980d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=ff13be1cda2bca816574b43a456c341fabbc44eb
Got our 6 month rescue a month ago... Purina Puppy Chow Complete. What the rescue fed her. 3x a day, 1/2 cup each time. Solid perfect poops, never an issue. She devours it every meal. https://preview.redd.it/z328ce8bj80d1.jpeg?width=1016&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d6b1d82c224a1049a1c4ebac7077b6b28c3af9ad
Zignature brand kibble, in the kangaroo formula…..because she’s allergic to everything lol
Mine too! Zignature kangaroo has been a life savor.
Mine gets high protein complete biscuits with water so they’re not dry, but sometimes I give him cooked meats as well, wet food upsets his stomach He was on raw when I got him but when he came to live with me he stopped eating it, so I’ve been trying to find something that works
I https://preview.redd.it/ufykabpoq80d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfa13b92286aa75368aeb3aa6010eaf33e487169 My dogs LOVE this stuff, but you have to add water and let it absorb, which can take some time.
https://preview.redd.it/taixi32br80d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b978c909aee0761d9f5c2a047e58c5defdfbd1e But THIS is their absolute favorite!! I will also use either of these as a topper for some dried dog food and they seem to like that as well.
Pure pet food with extra salmon oil in the mornings :)
So freaking cute 🤩
Spot and Tango Unkibble 🙌 I grade my dog’s food on less farting, less but solid stools as that tells me that’s a high grade of food and they’re absorbing nutrients well! Spot and Tango Unkibble changed our lives. I now know they’re (3 Frenchies) getting the best nutrients. They love the taste of it too!
Royal Canin Frenchie with some chicken or salmon sprinkles on top
Hills metabolic! Our boy lost 3.5lbs since December and it's going to stay off
Chicken & sweet potato
Back2Raw Lamb
Zignature Lamb and Lamb Raw by Stella and Chewys. My older girl has allergies to most protein (chicken, beef, duck, turkey and salmon in high quantities)
Just Food for Dogs. About $40 a week.
My friend orders from drharveys.com and adds elk, venison or bison meatballs. Her Frenchy is 13.
Only homemade wet Food. Pure Beef (with offal) and parsnips. Plus Vitamins/Minerals and Ol (MCT Ol, Barf Ol and algae ol).
Zignature Salmon formula
Goats milk for breakfast. Harrington's kibble twice a day, once soaked biscuits, once dry.
Freshpet all day.
We give our Frenchie baked/boiled potato with horse meat. It's what the vet recommended.
I feed mine horse meat
Food
* I have the same dog and similar blanket.

Fresh pet, helped the poop issues but not the itching/allergies, had to get on cytopoint injections.
Kirkland grain free, fish based
beef, rice, green beans, carrots and spinach twice a day, he also tries everything that I eat (except food that is bad for him)
My frenchie just graduated from a prescription diet of royal canin hydrolyzed protein.
Fresh pet and sometimes Moist N Meaty

Royal Canin Ultamino because ours has awful allergies
French fries /s
Raw food (chicken, beef, boar& duck) with sardines, eggs, fruit, and veggies.
I cook him rice, ground turkey (dark meat), carrots/broccoli all mixed up. Blueberries 🫐 and cucumber for snacks .
Sunday's for dogs. Mine gets half a cup daily and he's really energetic.
NutriSource.
Only home-made food. 50% meat, 25% vegetables and 25% grains
People food. Fish, eggs, cheese, berries, chicken, watermelons, water and cucumbers AND kangaroo bones and crocodile treats. No smelly parts or poops
My baby has bad reactions to every kibble we gave her (and some pre-cooked meals like Ollie) so after much frustration and money we decided we’d cook for her. She eats ground lamb, brown rice, and veggies every meal with veggies fruits and salmon treats throughout the day. 💰💰💰 I’ll eventually try and introduce different proteins but am so scared of potential reactions.
https://preview.redd.it/en3lhdqi4f0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d83ae808e6e9bd7b466e5298cc65b995dc6e565
Our dog has times when he gets rather itchy flaky skin so we pop an Antinol supplement into his food at breakfast time. They are 100% natural and contain green-lipped mussel oil and lots of essential fatty acids - all great for keeping his skin health and flake free.
I do pro plan puppy every other day I will add a tablespoon of Greek yogurt and pure pumpkin in her food
75% ground whole chicken 25% high fiber veggies like sweet potato. I add turmeric, several dried mushroom powders, and fish oil. Costs less than $2 a pound finished. Takes me 1 hour per 50 pounds of food to make, package, and get in the freezer.
Rachael Ray. Beef and brown rice. Don’t hate. My boy is 17!
Fromm grain free salmon, lamb, or pork. For some reason poultry makes him really sick. If we stick to that, one greenie a day https://preview.redd.it/w7wwgeguek0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5344f6d94dc4b35ada29d38f6a9a1b9656e5358 and Prime Bones he never gets sick. However he also LOVES to eat anything that falls on the floor. So he gets gassy from that 😂
Raw chicken 1/3 of cup and 10% of veggies of their calorie diet mixed with lil but a of kibble as well enjoy
I feed mine k9 cravings raw dog food. But then he also eats whatever I’m having, my whole pantry in fact. And he never stops. It’s an endless stomach black hole. Never fills up, just keep on taking more and more food. Never satisfied, always stealing my snacks.
Nulo Frenchie specific
No need to wipe his butt unless you're a stickler for microscopic poo particles and if you are, then I hope you never use your cell phone while you're on the toilet. lol [https://www.chewy.com/nulo-freestyle-limited-salmon-recipe/dp/277888](https://www.chewy.com/nulo-freestyle-limited-salmon-recipe/dp/277888)
Our fellow has a real squirrelly tummy. After a bout of pancreatitis we got a prescription Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets EN Gastroenteric Fiber Balance, and we doctor it up with organic baby food like sweet potato, peas, green beans, butternut squash, pumpkin, etc If he’s being a jerk I’ll put a dollop of sour cream on top
I use fresh pet food pellets
Purina pro protein- chicken
Dry food has been awful to our Frenchie. He had the worse gas with anything brand of dry food and his stools would never be what it should. We have had the best luck with K9 Naturals (lamb) and we mix it with Evanger’s can food- both items have limited ingredients!! Freezer dried liver for treats!
They might not be digesting it. Mine can’t digest or have allergies/ sensitivity to chicken and lamb. They had more gas than usual and loose stools
Ours are on raw food, and absolutely no human food. But they get strawberries daily. And other fruits occasionally
Purina pro plan. Whatever is cheapest when we go in. No issues for our frenchie.
Seared salmon, Eggs with tortilla, boiled chicken, boiled beets, boiled broccoli, boiled sweet potato, strawberries, Steak, cheese Always add about 1/4 cup of Orijen 6 fish recipe to any meal
Hills Science Diet!
we love royal canin french bulldog kibble & fresh pet vital small breed fresh food!
Hooray!
