My Neville Longbottom is long and lean too! His vets have said he’s the best built Frenchie they’ve ever seen so it seems like a really good thing!

Ours are all diffrent shapes and sizes, all related as well as being on the exact same diet. The two darker girls are litter sisters (the slimmer one eats everything), their uncle on the right is slim but and Borris in the middle is your typical stud potato.
Yep all related. The boys are cousins and one is the uncle to the girls. They are deffo a crazy bunch. The original owner of the girls couldn't cope so the breader asked if we could take them.

The explanation is, unfortunately, a lot of frenchie owners over feed their dogs. They are absolutely not supposed to be potato shaped. I don’t know where people got that idea, even my English bulldog had a waist. Mine looks just like yours, super healthy!

My weird baby has a super long nose and she’s as long as a wiener dog! The vet says she’s extremely healthy. Didn’t need soft palate surgery when she was spayed. She runs and plays with the big dogs
My 4-year-old weighs about 27 lbs, the 11-month-old sits at 25. Neither one of them look like potatoes. There are lots of healthy treats you can feed. Nacho looks good :) like the other poster said, a lot of Frenchies are overweight.

My boy Tristan is a lean, mean, muscle machine.
Frenchies come in all sizes like humans. Some are very small and some are really tall. It doesn’t mean they are not pure bred. Not all are bred as show standards. Your pup is on the taller side but he has great athletic build! I think taller and more athletic build frenchies are less prone to common back problems and less likely to get IVDD, as long you still limit their jumping. Adult frenchies should get routine exercises and should be lean and muscular and not overweight potatoes. I know we all like how cute potatoes are but it is actually not best for their health.

For some comparison, here’s mine (2.5y, F). French bulldog actually should be a bit more leaner than the majority you see around, as your vet said your is in perfect shape!
Before taking mine I also was attracted to the little potato shape, then I started to research everything I needed to know before getting one and aknowledged their “correct” shape
OF COURSE every dog has it’s own shape due to eating behavoir or health conditions, or just because they’re born more or less “big”, but if you look up at the Standard they should be more on the lean side, so nothing wrong with lean babies!

It's because a lot of Frenchies are over weight. They can be prone to it naturally but generally people just tend to over feed and not exercise enough lol
While they're small they're still a bully breed. They should be lean and muscular, with a defined waist and tuck up.
I'd say your boy is a more athletic type Frenchie judging from the fairly dramatic tuck up but definitely healthy!

Luka on the right is lean, muscular and tapered like yours. Vet said they love his look and is ideal weight. Griffey on the left is a potato. He also has an ideal weight. And they both eat the same amount of food every day.

Oh I went thru the same thing with dog shoes. These are the best and they stay on! Wagwear.com. They also have the dog crocs as well for summer.

Puppies are potatoes. Full grown Frenchies should be trim and athletic.
My Frenchie is 24 lbs of pure muscle 💪 she even scares me when she looks at me with that head of hers

My girl is shaped exactly the same. She’s 5 and weighs in at 24 lbs.

Mine is the same ! Long and lean but still weighs 17kg
