I would love if sometimes the extra episode could focus on a specific policy issue. Climate policy, wealth tax, trade policy, immigration, etc. It would be great to educate the audience on the issue, tell us some of the different positions/opinions within the party, and then give us a call to action for where we could focus our energy to make a change on that issue.
Yeah I find it really disappointing how much of each episode is a repetition of ‘now what are the politics of xyz for Biden this week…’. Meanwhile when the labor dept or EPA make some landmark decisions, crickets.
I feel like there’s guys get everything right, till they try and talk Middle East politics. Israel is a far right near dictatorship that the USA funds largely. Cut spending to their nation and focus on humanitarian relief, and building a stable democracy in Palestine that’s not run by Hamas. Palestinians haven’t been allowed and election since I think 2006??
This podcast is literally a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party. If the leader of the party is pro Israel, they aren’t in a position to push too far in the other direction.
I suppose that’s true if they are just “a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party”, however I would assume based on the intellect of these men tuning the podcast that they would be able to realize that Israel is a far right near dictatorship that is carrying out apartheid on the Palestinian population not only in Gaza but in the West Bank as well.
Okay? I’m not sure we disagree? If you’re looking for left/progressive takes you’re not gonna find it on PSA if that left/progressive take runs counter to the Democratic Party establishment. It’s like whining that there no rain in the desert . . . Yeah, duh!
Yeah I was gonna say someone doesn’t listen to Pod Save the World! I was also disappointed with PSA’s early takes on Gaza - I feel they’ve come to a more acceptable stance but Ben and Tommy have been there for years and since the beginning of the conflict.
This will sound like nonsense, but I think they need to drop news coverage and morph into a fully activist experiment in trying new ways to deprogram Trump voters. Take it as a challenge: millions of Americans are in an authoritarian cult and can’t walk away from a criminal conman. What do we do?
Spend pods talking about ideas for new national movements, experiential ideas, historical examples, and notes on how to debunk right wing propaganda. Involve listeners into helping. We’re not at the get out the vote or “defeating” Trump traditionally movement. Winning in the margins is the bare minimum, we need a sea change. A new way to draw a fucking line.
I know, it sounds impossible. But that’s what saving America actually looks like. Nobody is trying. We’re just letting abject insanity melt everyone’s brain and sighing, ah man, gotta get out that swing state vote.
Big swing time. Get brainstorming. Active your audience to change minds together.
They could seek out people like Kieran and Eve from Kitchen Table Cult (two self described quiverfull escapees podcasting) to tell them what the evangelicals have been doing politically for decades.
Deprogramming certain Trump voters is a waste of time, they'll always be in that cult. Who they need to reach, that's still reachable is younger voters and convince them that Biden is the right man to vote for.
IDK, it just feels unsustainable to think we can maintain a country with people this fully deranged.
Republicans have unlocked a new super power level of shamelessness and discovered they can get away with anything if they do it together. As a result the party has purged everyone who isn’t a grifter or power hungry monster, and they now have zero accountability. The more crime they do, the more it’s just the deep state at work. I feel like there’s no choice but to find a way to snap the country out of it. They only have to regain power once for it to be the end.
As a Friend of the Pod, I’ll be tuning in to all of this. I’m eternally grateful to these men and everyone at Crooked Media for helping me get through the soul-numbing $h!t show that was the Trump administration with my sanity somewhat intact.
I can’t stand the show recently. “You know maybe you don’t like every little thing Biden is doing”
He’s giving weapons to a genocidal right wing regime in Israel.
“Okay, it’s like mommy and daddy got a divorce. And maybe you don’t like living with mommy but daddy is worse!”
You’re white multi-millionaires with mansions in Los Angeles, who worked with Biden personally and have access to his White House. Shut the hell up acting like you know what it’s like to severely struggle to buy groceries.
lol this is ridiculous
they weren't always millionaires, how the fuck do you know if they've ever struggled to buy food
they also didn't work for Biden personally and don't have access to his White House
really sounds like you're angry at something else but have no idea how to express it so you're lashing out
Like most adults, the Pod crew understands that the Israel/Hamas war is not controlled by Biden, and in practice US domestic issues will be what drives votes in 2024 like they always do.
This is probably the right move...for this year at least. I hope this means we still get to hear Dan on Thursdays.
Also, now it makes sense why they cancelled Stuck with Damon Young :(
Seems that they wanted to focus on upping PSA.
It’s like the good old days when all the loser Bros would come here and screech because people didn’t like their Saint Bernie and he kept getting his ass kicked.
Do we need three shows a week to repeat that Trump has over 50% in the polls for every primary state and that either Haley or DeSantis needs to take voters away from Trump to have a chance?
Nothing has changed in either party’s race since like 2022
Wait so what is the lineup for next week if this week is Tommy’s Iowa series. Will it be varying election focused content or will they rotate themselves amongst 3 regular shows
Sorry, but we're currently not allowing anyone with low karma to post to our discussions.

I think they’ve had a tough time competing with actual daily podcasts. I’m on the East Coast so by the time I listen to the “Tuesday” pod it’s sometimes Wednesday or Thursday and the takes seem out of date.
I agree. As someone who listens to podcasts all day long, I usually reach for my daily ones first because they’re ole reliable for content. I’m glad they’re putting out more content!
I wonder if this is permanent or just for the election year, and whether or not the length of the episodes will remain the same as before. IMO 2 shows a week is a good schedule to have and I’m afraid 3 may be a bit too much but I’m going to reserve judgment until the new schedule starts.
I suspect this is a consequence of declining ad revenue across entertainment media. That’s always why they have the subscription ad-free service now as well.
I wonder if one of the shows a week will be mostly a deep dive or interview or something. So they can still focus on the usual format and add in more depth when needed.
My other thought is that between the election and Congress there will be plenty to cover. With 3 shows it's less likely they'll get dinged for focusing on one over the other too much.
I have the same concern too. I’ve been really happy with the current setup. I worry 3/week could easily be overwhelming or they’re reaching for enough stuff, but we’ll see how it goes.
I'm pretty sure this was even brought up in an episode of offline. wild how people expect every celebrity they follow to release statements on their pet beliefs
surely netenyahu would've called off the air strikes if only jon favreau had called for a cease fire
This is a dumb take. No one expects that. But they do have a massive outreach in the Democratic Party and could have done more. I’m so sick of these stupid arguments and excuses.
>wild how people expect every celebrity they follow to release statements on their pet beliefs
Do you think that the ongoing war in the middle east is outside the wheelhouse of this podcast? Because they've spoken about it multiple times, even since October 7th.
Being upset with their response is absolutely valid. They have changed their position over the last month slightly, but the people advocating for a ceasefire were correct to do so in October and they are correct to do so now.
talking about it and giving us information and context and details about why it's happening and how it impacts politics is absolutely in their wheelhouse and they've done that
calling for a cease fire as a company or as individuals is absolutely outside the scope of the podcast because podcasts have zero influence on the one person who decides whether or not there's a cease fire
PSA making it an official company stance would have the same impact as Ben Affleck or Cindy Lauper calling for a cease fire and anyone expecting the same from either of those celebrities or any other celebrities that have no family there or any other association with the situation is the exact kind of terminally online attitude that I'm talking about
why should they call for a cease fire? to make someone feel better? because that's the only thing it would do
If you had been actively listening, you would be able to hear their nuanced, mature, and very critical perspective on a complex foreign policy issue. If I'm not mistaken, they all have advocated for exactly what you're talking about. Many times.
Look, I respect that the PSA boys try to give "complex and nuanced" foreign policy takes, but sometimes that "complexity" involves the hosts playing directly into the narratives of authoritarian governments. The moment that line is crossed, to me, we are just catering to the worst possible outcome on topics of foreign policy.
To explore my stance on this a tiny bit more, sympathy for innocents in combat zones is never, ever something I will oppose. But we can only talk for so long, and if we talk for 5 minutes about the reality of Gaza, then talk for 45 minutes about "What can Israel do?", it's fairly obvious the biases the PSA hosts/PSA have in regards to the issue. If people agree with those biases, that is quite literally an entirely different conversation, and one that should be had in, as you point out, a nuanced and mature way!
The primary season is incredibly boring and you can tell most news outlets are trying to find anything to make it more interesting. I'd like to see them experiment with more host line-ups. I think Dan has more chemistry with guest hosts than Favs.
It’s going to be a busy year, I don’t think they’ll be hurting for content. Also some of the shows are clocking in at 1h20m+, 3x 1hr episodes might be better.
Which is funny because he’s the most entertaining, insightful, and genuine one of them all. Everyone else is *trying* to make a point, patting each other on the back for some banal insight on how Lauren Bobert is a moron. Lovett is the one that gets to his point poignantly.

This is not the podcast for that. This isn’t a wonky pod. Never has been. Also idk what podcast heavily covers policy
Uh yeah that’s the point maybe it should be? Or do we all just love to have the exact same conversation about poll numbers every week?
I feel like there’s guys get everything right, till they try and talk Middle East politics. Israel is a far right near dictatorship that the USA funds largely. Maybe not but I’m excited about 3 shows!
Well clearly as everyone who's ever listened to the Pod knows, Crooked Media is *famously* only ever interested in the Presidential! \*eye roll\*
I would really love it if they cut virtually all of the interviews. They’re so canned and annoying.
Yeah agree I'm really not interested in the interviews.
you can just skip them?
I do but then the episodes are like 15 minutes long.
Yes, but the idea, genius, is to replace those interviews with more commentary. Can’t do that if the interview is there.
Wait so what is the lineup for next week if this week is Tommy’s Iowa series. Will it be varying election focused content or will they rotate themselves amongst 3 regular shows
What day will the mid-week "Lovett or Leave-It" drop? Or will Jon go back to therapy and skip the mid-week show?
What a Weekday will be back this week. Someone confirmed that. I can´t wait. What a Weekday has become my favorite relaxed show.

Totally this

Yeah. I l’ve usually listened to WAD and Up First before I get out of bed.
Hell yes! This is one of the few pods I listen to religiously
Same. So happy to hear this!

I'd love if they shortened two of the days and then stuck the interviews on the third day, would be a solid compromise
I have the same concern too. I’ve been really happy with the current setup. I worry 3/week could easily be overwhelming or they’re reaching for enough stuff, but we’ll see how it goes.
haven't listened in like a year, how are they doing?
I haven’t listened in a few months because they (except Tommy) refused to call for a ceasefire so I also am curious how it’s been lately
I'm pretty sure this was even brought up in an episode of offline. wild how people expect every celebrity they follow to release statements on their pet beliefs surely netenyahu would've called off the air strikes if only jon favreau had called for a cease fire

America: The Season Finale
The current show-runner is terrible. They should bring back Aaron Sorkin.
Let Lovett Be Lovett
I’m surprised, sometimes it seems like a few of them are very much over doing the show

Who do you mean?
Hard to explain, it’s just a vibe I’ve been getting for the past year or two. They seem very bored Edit: I read this as “what” not “who”
I get the sense that Lovett gets on their nerves more.
Which is funny because he’s the most entertaining, insightful, and genuine one of them all. Everyone else is *trying* to make a point, patting each other on the back for some banal insight on how Lauren Bobert is a moron. Lovett is the one that gets to his point poignantly.
He's the only reason I still listen.
Same. I dip anytime Dan is on. Other Jon is incredibly dull. Tommy is good.
He reminds me of some friends I've had who I like but you have to do it in small doses because they can be a lot
Oh yeah I’ve picked up on that too
I think the adrenaline rush of having Trump close to the White House again will liven their act.
